Holy Monastery of Daphni 🇬🇷
#summerdestinations
During my summer vacation, I visited the Holy Monastery of Daphni, just outside Athens, and it was truly a highlight of my trip. This Byzantine gem, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is renowned for its stunning mosaics that date back to the 11th century. The entrance fee was only €6, making it an affordable treasure. The intricate mosaics depicting biblical scenes are mesmerizing, and the serenity of the monastery added to the experience. 🏛️🌟
Nearby, the site is well-connected to Athens, so you can easily explore the bustling city. I also made a stop at the nearby Eleusis archaeological site, which was just a short drive away. Both places provided a rich historical context and complemented my visit perfectly. If you’re ever in the area, the Holy Monastery of Daphni is a must-see for its art and peaceful atmosphere.
