Surin Beach was exactly the kind of escape I needed after the buzz of Patong. It’s quieter, cleaner, and has this laid-back elegance that sets it apart from the busier beaches in Phuket. The sand here is soft and golden, with fewer crowds and almost no beach vendors hassling you. The water was a clear turquoise—so inviting I couldn’t resist diving straight in. On the day I visited, the waves were calm enough for a relaxed swim, and I saw a few snorkelers further out near the rocks. What really stood out was how peaceful everything felt. No loud jet skis, no beach clubs blaring music—just the sound of waves and a few people stretched out on towels or reading under umbrellas. That said, there are still a few chilled cafés and restaurants tucked along the back of the beach where you can grab a coconut, smoothie, or lunch with a view. It’s a great beach for couples or anyone looking to wind down, take in the beauty of the Andaman Sea, and not be overwhelmed by noise or crowds. I spent a few hours just strolling, swimming, and soaking up the sun without feeling rushed or overstimulated. If you’re in Phuket and want a beach that feels more exclusive without actually being private, Surin hits the sweet spot. This place is located in Lapu-Lapu Cebu. The beach is called Hadsan. Mactan, Cebu is the nearest beach getaway from the City but because of the luxurious beach resorts, people would rather choose to go to the beaches in the north and south of Cebu. If you are looking for an affordable place to unwind, this is the place to be. the tent, cottages, tables and cabanas ranges from 250-2000 php. There is also a floating cottage which is 2000php rental for the whole day. However high tide starts from 8am onwards. The resort accepts booking reservations and walkin. We decided to venture to the quiet one, Ko Tarutao . Lourinhã has excellent beaches for kids and adults to enjoy. We stayed at the youth hostel Areia Branca which is literally on the beach and had a superb time here. The beach can be a little windy. Make sure you take a jacket and a windbreaker if possible. From here you can also visit the Dino Park in Lourinhã and the local museum is an excellent way to escape the heat. It was an informative museum of local customs. Try the local sweet bean pastry. We had some that came straight out of the oven and were to die for. Patong Beach is one of those places you either love for its energy or find a bit overwhelming—but either way, you won’t forget it. When I first stepped onto the beach, I was surprised by how long and wide the stretch of sand was. The water was a clear blue-green, the sand warm and soft underfoot, and the whole place had this constant buzz. It wasn’t the quiet, secluded beach vibe—this was lively, colorful, and unapologetically full-on. Sunbeds and umbrellas lined much of the beachfront, and vendors moved up and down offering drinks, fresh fruit, and souvenirs. There were jet skis flying across the waves, parasailers overhead, and the occasional game of beach football happening near the shore. It was busy, yes, but somehow all that activity felt like part of the scene. I took a long walk from one end to the other and found a few calmer pockets where it was easier to just sit and watch the tide. One of the best moments was catching the sunset—it was absolutely stunning. The sky turned gold and pink, and everything felt just a little slower, softer, and more magical. What makes Patong Beach so unique is that just across the road lies Bangla Road, where the beach day can quickly turn into a wild night. So it’s incredibly convenient—swim, chill, snack, and then head right into nightlife if that’s your thing. If you’re looking for quiet serenity, Patong might not be your beach. But if you want energy, convenience, people-watching, and a lively beach scene all wrapped into one, this is the spot.
