A Wild Day Out with the Kids: Taronga Zoo’s Best Views and Creatures
#springitinerary #TarongaZoo #FamilyAdventure #SydneyWithKids #WildRopes #ZooDayOut #AnimalEncounters #HarbourViews #KidFriendlySydney #EducationalFun #TarongaExperience
Our visit to Taronga Zoo was one of the most kid-friendly and memorable stops during our Sydney trip. This isn’t just any zoo — it’s a place where giraffes graze with Sydney Harbour in the background, and where little ones can see majestic tigers, curious owls, and countless other animals up close.
From the moment we arrived via ferry, it felt like an adventure. The giraffe enclosure was a clear highlight — both for the stunning animals and the iconic views. The tiger trail offered just the right amount of thrill, and the kids were fascinated by the quiet intensity of the owl encounter, which felt straight out of a storybook.
Plenty of shaded areas, cafés, and rest spots made it easy to spend the whole day here without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
Travel Tips and How to Get There:
• Best time to visit: Morning — animals are more active and there’s plenty to see before lunch.
• What to bring: Sunscreen, hats, water bottles, snacks for kids, stroller (if needed), and a good camera.
• Recommended experiences:
• Stop at the giraffe viewing platform — best photos guaranteed.
• Walk through the Asian Rainforest and see the Sumatran tiger.
• Visit the Australian Nightlife zone to spot owls and nocturnal creatures.
• Ride the Sky Safari cable car — kids love it, and so will you.
• Take breaks at play zones and picnic spots — perfect for recharging.
• Good for: Families, young children, animal lovers, first-time Sydney visitors.
• Vibe: Fun, educational, scenic, engaging for all ages.
How to Get There:
• By ferry: Take a scenic ferry from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo Wharf — an exciting start to the day for kids.
• By bus: Direct buses run from the city or North Shore areas to the zoo entrance.
• By car: On-site parking is available, but it’s best to arrive early on weekends.
• Combine with: A walk at nearby Bradleys Head for views and more nature.
Beautiful Animals in Taronga Zoo!
The animals in the zoo are all well taken care of. Even the park is clean with complete signs, restrooms, benches and gates.
The lions, tigers, elephant, giraffe were beautiful. But my favorites are kangaroo, koala and the cute little penguins swimming around nonstop.
The zoo is not only for kids but for adults as well!
They have also made stunning views of the Sydney skyline. We went there on a weekend so the sailboats are all out.
Love Sydney! We’ll be back next time with the kids for sure? #tarongazoo #sydneytrip #sydney
Taronga Zoo🐨 @Sydney🇦🇺
The most worth visiting Zoo✔️
💰Tickets AUD45.9 (Adult)
Not to mention the map inside, I mainly want to share why I think it's most worth it🤪
I went to other Zoo in Australia (bad to share), we are most looking forward to actually see Koala🐨 and Kangaroo, but in fact Koala's rest time is longer, other zoos mainly see koala but other animals are more hea / no sight (entry fee is the same price 😅)
In contrast Taronga Zoo animals are more diverse d
From tropical climates 🦒🦍🦧🦓🐘 to marine life 🐧🐦🦭, cold-blooded animals 🕸️🕷️🦂🐍 are all here, and of course 🐨
It feels more thoughtful and worth the time to ✔️✔️
Departure on the day is to take the ferry from Circular Quay to the zoo pier
In fact, you can also choose to take the bus directly to the zoo, but you can enjoy the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge by boat~
🔅tips: The park closes at 5pm, you can arrive a little early and then watch slowly 😉

the best zoo ever
honestly hands down the best zoo I’ve ever been to. there was so much to see and do and it was a fun filled day out.
they have some incredible animals that you wouldn’t see in other zoos in the UK like kangaroos, pelicans, camels and even elephants. it was definitely worth going they put on some shows like the free flight show which was some exotic birds flying over the crowds and doing a routine and they also had a show with the seals they are such clever animals memorising a routine and executing the stunts perfectly. they also had some 5-10 minutes shows where they would feed the animals and tell us some facts it was very interesting
cannot Recommend Taronga Zoo enough

Hands down the best sunset spot in Sydney 😍 #tarongazoo
Get real close to mother nature at Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo
Over 1,000 animals from all around the world at Australia’s greatest open-range zoo. 300 hectares with the option to drive your own car around, hire bike/carts or walk around the zoo (though I don’t recommend walking it as it’s a real big zoo). You can hire the bikes and carts at the entrance of the zoo.
The zoo also offers lodges and camps for overnight stays and private tours around the zoo.
Easy to get to if catching the countrylink (regional) trains from Sydney CBD central station to Dubbo (around 5.5hrs train ride) which passes through the Aussie outback and regional areas. Comfortable seating with plenty of leg room even on economy class, and a buffet car for you to buy food/drinks (we all do like to snack when we are bored hahaha).

First time seeing Koala at Taronga zoo in Sydney
Getting There - ferry from Circular Quay Directly to the zoo.
There will be a zoo free bus wait for you but however I don’t know why getting back to the pier again cost money🤷🏻♀️
Attractions - Koala 🐨 of course. Don’t miss out to get a seat to see seal show at 2pm! 🦭
Hotels - I stayed at the very near Central station hostel. It’s was alright. But if you not in the budget, staying at Peninsula hotel might be a dream for me.
Food & Restaurants - there is Mc Donald in the zoo if you hungry. But I tried the Aussie healthy burger names grill’d back in town and it is also not too bad to be hungry waiting to come back here
Shopping - there is two souvenirs shop as I believe at the zoo. They sell load of cute stuff there. But back to town, QVB queen victoria building! On the lower ground floor has a lot of stuff on discount 🤌🏼

The Most Gorgeous Zoo I’ve Ever Visited
#summerdestinations on our third day in Sydney, we took the ferry from circular quay across the bay to Taronga zoo. The first thing I’ll say is that the view from the ferry is spectacular. You get to see the whole harbor with the harbor bridge the Sydney, opera house and the skyline behind it, great spot for a photo op such a beautiful place! from the ferry stop you take the bus up to the top of the hill where the zoo entrance is. You can enter from the bottom, but if you start at the top, you’re walking downhill through the animal exhibits the whole time. It’s perfect! The zoo is fantastic. They have an amazing conservation project and the animals are so well taken care of. we noticed a few sick animals, but the zookeeper explained to us that they rehabilitate, injured and sick wildlife, and then release them back into the wild. Such a cool program! They had an incredible diversity of animals from all over the world, but their collection of Australian animals was my favorite! You could walk through the section with the kangaroos and emus! So many cool animals such a great viewing experience, and absolutely amazing to see the work that the zoo is doing to care for endangered wildlife, and the environment of Australia! Definitely recommend visiting!#100waysoftravel #mytravelhacks #familytrip #Taronga #tarongazoo
Taronga zoo Sydney
We spent approximately 2 hours here, leisurely walking around and observing most, if not all, of the animals. The park is well-equipped with plenty of trees and seating areas, which was particularly appreciated given the 25-degree Celsius temperature and sunny weather.
Instead of taking the bus, we opted for the short 4-minute walk up the hill to the south entrance. Upon arrival, we found steps and escalators to the right for easy access.
The entrance fee is around AU$50, which may seem steep, but considering the vast array of attractions, it's justified. Families with children shouldn't miss the petting zoo, where they can interact with adorable alpacas and goats.#tarongazoo #Sydney #Australia
