After dropping off our luggage, we set off to wander the nearby streets, full of curiosity and hope. We strolled through Songjie, where traditional tea shops line the road like little treasures. We bought a cup of tea — served with a tiny teapot perched adorably on top — and walked slowly along the river, letting the views sink into us like poetry. But the peace didn’t last long. Within hours, the skies opened up. The rain fell heavy and fast, soaking us completely. We returned to the hotel drenched but strangely content, wrapped in the quiet rhythm of mountain rain. Day 2 We had hoped to hike in the Wuyi Mountain Forest Park, but the rain stayed with us. So we changed our plans and spent the day at a hot spring resort instead. And truly — what a memory that became. Sitting in steaming pools as cold raindrops kissed our faces felt like a strange, beautiful ritual. It was calm, surreal, and entirely unexpected. Day 3 At last, the weather cleared, and we made our way to the forest park. The towering rock formations were absolutely breathtaking — like scenes from an ancient painting. But alas, another small heartbreak awaited us: the bamboo rafting was closed, as it doesn’t run on Mondays. It was something we had looked forward to the most, so our spirits dipped. Still, we hiked up to Tianyou Peak, where the views restored a bit of magic. With time running short and our biggest wish unfulfilled, we decided to leave early and caught an earlier train home. We spent two unforgettable days on the beautiful island of Pingtan — a place where the sea breeze carries the scent of salt and adventure. We arrived around noon, and were immediately impressed by how convenient it was to get here thanks to the high-speed railway station on the island. After a simple but tasty lunch at one of the local restaurants, we headed straight to the beach. Longfeng Beach was spacious, clean, and peaceful. Facilities like toilets, showers, and foot-rinsing areas made our visit very comfortable. The beach is lined with a few cozy cafés, and we ended the evening with dinner in one of them, listening to the waves and watching the sun dip behind the horizon. Day 2 began with a warm Chinese breakfast at Pingtan Skyline Original Hotel. We then rented an electric scooter and set off to explore the island 🏝️ — a perfect way to enjoy the coastal breeze and open roads. Our first stop was Changjiang’ao Windmill Fields (长江澳风车田). The sight of dozens of wind turbines rising out of the sea was absolutely breathtaking — a surreal and majestic view that stays with you. Next, we visited Beigang Stone House Village (北港村石头厝). The scenery was pleasant, and the old stone houses had a rustic charm, though the area felt a bit quiet and less remarkable than we expected. Afterward, we made our way to the mysterious Xianren Well (仙人井). The spot has an unusual beauty, but we were slightly disappointed to find that the famous well was mostly hidden behind a fence and wild overgrowth, making it hard to take a good photo. The view from the water side seemed far more dramatic — though fleeting, as we only had a short time to enjoy it. As the day went on, we continued our little island road trip, passing through authentic villages where traditional stone houses stand quietly, each with heavy rocks on their rooftops to guard against the sea winds. Huangguoshu Grand Waterfall (大瀑布) The star of the show — standing 77.8 meters high and 101 meters wide, it’s truly breathtaking. One of the coolest features is the Water-Curtain Cave behind the falls, where you can walk through a natural tunnel and experience the waterfall from inside. 2. Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area (天星桥景区) Located downstream from the main falls, this area features karst rock formations, lush greenery, and hidden waterfalls.
