Zaanse Schans Windmill Village, a tourist attraction in Zaanse Schans, is divided into 2 parts. The first part is the windmill section. The windmills are lined up along the river. You can go up there (the price depends on the one). The second part is like a small Open Museum. Each house demonstrates the life of the Dutch people. You can choose to visit according to your interests, such as making wooden shoes, weaving, cheese houses. *** History of each windmill
1 The Houseman spice mill was built in 1786 (229 years ago). The first location was not here. When the city developed, it was moved to a new location here in 1955 (60 years ago).
2 The Crowned Poelenburg is a saw mill. This windmill is high-tech. The bottom of the base rotates to turn the blades to find the best wind direction when the wind changes. It is easy to notice this one. Because it is the only bright green one
3 The Cat, an old cat and a local because it was originally located here, not moved from another place like the others that expanded along with the city's growth. Built in 1646, 368 years ago, this windmill, The Cat, is a sawmill.

*** How to get there: Take the train from Zaandam for another 2 stops, get off at Koog-Zaandijk Zaanse Schans station, then walk another 1 km, it takes about 27 minutes, or take the bus, take line 65 or 392 from the bus station at Zaandam, take 6 stops, get off at Zaandam, Morgensterstraat. Then cross the road to the bus no. 391 to Zaanse Schans. It's a shorter walk but takes about 38 minutes.
