Kawasaki – Japan’s Urban Pulse with a Cultural Soul
#cityplaybook
#familytrip #localguides
Kawasaki, nestled between Tokyo and Yokohama, is often overshadowed by its larger neighbors—but what I discovered here was a vibrant blend of industrial strength, cultural richness, and unexpected charm.
My journey began at Kawasaki Daishi, one of the most important temples in the Tokyo area. As I strolled through the Nakamise shopping street leading to the temple, the scent of incense mingled with the aroma of fresh daruma-shaped snacks and traditional Japanese sweets. It was spiritual and festive at once. The temple’s grandeur and tranquil atmosphere made it the perfect place to start the day with reflection.
Next, I explored the Toshiba Science Museum—a hidden gem that surprised me with its interactive exhibits showcasing Japan’s role in shaping the future of technology. It’s perfect for curious minds and families traveling with kids.
But what truly set Kawasaki apart for me was the Kawasaki Warehouse Arcade, once a cyberpunk dream inspired by Kowloon Walled City (sadly closed in 2019, but still legendary). That edgy spirit still lives on in local nightlife, themed bars, and innovative art spaces.
For nature and culture, Ikuta Ryokuchi Park offered peaceful walking trails and the Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum, where I wandered through traditional farmhouses relocated from across the country—an immersive way to experience history.
Best Time to Visit:
Spring (March–May) for cherry blossoms at local parks
Autumn (October–November) for mild weather and colorful foliage
Helpful Tips:
Easily accessible via JR or Keikyu lines from Tokyo or Yokohama
Try local specialties like kawasaki-style dango and fresh sushi near the port
The Kawasaki Halloween Parade in October is one of Japan’s best—and most eccentric—costume events!
Location: Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan

Kawasaki surprised me. It’s not just a city between two giants—it’s a destination with its own beat, a place where history, innovation, and everyday life pulse together.
NARA, JAPAN: MY UNFORGETTABLE DAY AMONG DEERS AND TEMPLES
#getgoing2025
Nara, Japan, is like stepping into a dream where ancient history, breathtaking nature, and charming culture come together in the most magical way. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted by the city’s famous free-roaming deer—adorable, mischievous, and surprisingly polite as they bow for treats. Feeding them in the sprawling Nara Park, surrounded by lush greenery and centuries-old temples, feels like something out of a storybook.
But Nara is so much more than its friendly deer! The awe-inspiring Todai-ji Temple, home to the colossal Great Buddha, is a jaw-dropping sight you simply can’t miss. Walking through its massive wooden gates, you’re instantly transported to a time when emperors and monks shaped Japan’s history. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, the lantern-lit pathways of Kasuga Taisha Shrine create an atmosphere so serene and otherworldly, it’s like stepping into a different realm.
Beyond the temples, Nara offers an irresistible charm with its quaint streets, cozy teahouses, and delightful local treats like freshly pounded mochi that melts in your mouth. Whether you’re exploring hidden alleyways, indulging in delicious kakinoha-zushi, or simply soaking in the peaceful ambiance, every moment in Nara feels like a treasure waiting to be discovered.
If you’re looking for a place that combines Japan’s rich heritage with natural beauty and a touch of whimsy, Nara is an absolute must-visit. Nara is definitely more than just a destination—it’s an experience that stays with you forever.

Fall Colors at Seiryo-ji Temple, Kyoto 🍁
#fallcolors
Seiryo-ji Temple in Kyoto is a hidden gem during the fall season when the temple grounds come alive with vibrant autumn colors. The striking red, orange, and yellow hues of the maple trees contrast beautifully against the traditional temple structures, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere.
Located in the quiet Saga area, near Arashiyama, it’s less crowded than some of Kyoto’s more famous temples, making it a peaceful spot to enjoy the beauty of fall.
