Cardiff castle is a grade 1 listed building in the heart of downtown Cardiff, one of the fastest growing cities in Europe. The castle is set in the grounds of Bute Park which offers a a peaceful break from the city, with the historical castle offering a beautiful contrast to the modern developments around it. The original castle was built in the 11th century on top of an old Roman fort, however the castle gained its fame after the work done under the eye of the Marquess of Bute. The castle has impressive ground with stunning interiors, the high vantage points give amazing views of Cardiff and enable you to see the coast all the way to the mountains. There is an entrance fee for the Castle grounds, museum and interiors but they are worth it.
