One of my favorite spots was Plaka Beach, a long stretch of golden sand and clear, turquoise waters. Best part? No entrance fees for most beaches! You can just pick a spot, relax, and enjoy the views. If you’re into history, don’t miss the Portara, the ancient temple ruins right by the port—it’s free and the sunset views from there are unforgettable 🌅. The island is also full of charming villages like Halki, where I wandered through narrow streets and tasted local Kitron (a citrus liqueur). Don’t skip a visit to the Temple of Demeter—only a few euros to enter, and the site is surrounded by peaceful countryside. There is historic importance of windmills in Santorini. Today just a few have been restored and some others have been transformed into inhabited houses or hotels while others still needs renovations. Around 70 historic Windmills in Santorini, some long time ago abandoned in the island as well as the capital of Thira (Fira) In our knowledge, the windmills were in use on Santorini as early as the 14th-century, however due to turbulent history (earthquakes and volcanic activity) none of these early settlement of structures remain standing to this day. Although you’ll still find handful of windmills remain on the island-as I mentioned above the most of them since has been converted into hotels, accommodations and holiday rental homes. We booked a ferry from Santorini, it’s also easily reach from Mykonos and Paros. A spot is for relaxing, Naxos island has a long, sandy beaches, while middle of island’s surrounded by farms, olive groves, mountains, charming traditional villages, ancient temple ruins, and many Byzantine churches. Spent a good lunch overlooking the Caldera in Fira centre in a Greek restaurant. Went for fried calamari and a traditional Gemista (stuffed bell peppers with rice) Had a short walk and had a break for a natural frozen yogurt (Chill Box) at the heart of Fira centre. Went for x2 drinks ( a glass of wine + cocktail) after sunset at the lovely Paliakameni Cocktail Bar overlooking Caldera (PK cocktail bar ) Spent a total of 50€ in a day Well spent and good value for a perfect Saturday!#cyclades #passionpassport #foodie

Start a good walk from Fira centre towards direction of Pyrgos, begin slowly at 17:00 hrs. Enjoy the open caldera view by the national road. It’s an open view so you can find a good spot at an angle of your preference and get a spot to sit, get comfy. Watch as the sun slowly descends, creating a beautiful sunset colour on the Aegean Sea. Visiting Sarakiniko is spectacular/ breathtaking BOTH in sunset hours or during the day! The experience being surrounded by the white volcanic rocks caused by the salt from the sea water evokes memories of my Grand Canyon tour. (only this is smaller compared to Arizona) I’m equally amazed and speechless as i stood in front of this beach surrounded by the unique shapes of the rocks… Been wanting to visit for a longgggg time, glad i managed to get a ferry from Santorini and did a 4 days stay in Milos island.
