1. Jimmy Armers Beach
📍40, Fyffe Quay, Kaikoura Peninsula, Kaikoura 7300, New Zealand.
🪐 With minimal light pollution, the night sky here comes alive with countless stars, constellations, Milky Way and even the stunning Magellanic Clouds, two dwarf galaxies visible only in the Southern Hemisphere.
💫 We were lucky enough to catch many more of shooting stars by the beach side with background music provided by the ocean’s gentle waves.
2. Kaikoura beach (beach front motel)
📍Esplanade, Kaikoura 7300, New Zealand.
🌊 A breathtaking coastal town on New Zealand’s South Island, is a place where rugged mountains meet the vast Pacific Ocean, creating a scene of unmatched beauty.
There are many hotels and motels along the Kaikoura beach. 🌠 We spent a night in Kaikoura. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We get to witness the beautiful scenery every time when we step out of our motel room.
3. Kaikoura whale watch
📍Whaleway station road, Kaikoura 7340, New Zealand.
🐳 Booked our whale watch tickets on trip.com platform. Unfortunately, the captain couldn’t hear any sound underwater and she failed to locate the whale due to foggy morning. But we managed to see dolphins, fur seals and seagulls.
🎫 80% of the ticket payment will be refunded by the whale watch company as our tour didn’t managed to see the whale.

Hermanus Bay Whale Watching – Front-Row Seat to Ocean Giants 🐋
Hermanus is whale-watching heaven. I saw Southern Right whales breaching from the shoreline — it was wild!
#aprilblooms
June to November is peak season. They also hold an annual whale watching festival in September.
No need for a boat, though tours are available. Bear in mind that the waters are always rough, so if you’re prone to seasickness - medicine might be needed.
Tip: Visit the Whale Museum for context before spotting.
Fun fact: There’s an official “whale crier” walking on the shore who announces sightings!

Kaikoura:Heaven for whale-watching
Day 1: Arrival at The Lazy Shag
After a scenic Intercity bus ride from #laketekapo, I arrived in #kaikoura, a charming coastal town known for its marine life and stunning landscapes. I checked into #the lazy shag , a lively and budget-friendly hostel that cost 💰100 NZD per night. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff and fellow travelers. After settling in, I took a short walk to the waterfront to enjoy the sunset over the Pacific Ocean, with the Kaikoura mountain range in the background.
Day 2: 🐋#whalewatching in Kaikoura
The highlight of my trip was the whale-watching tour the next morning. I joined a boat tour and was thrilled to see two majestic #sperm whales ! Watching these incredible creatures surface and dive was an unforgettable experience. The tour also included sightings of playful dolphins and albatrosses, making it a perfect day out on the water. Back on land, I spent the evening relaxing at the hostel and sharing stories with other travelers about the day’s adventures.
Day 3: Kaikoura Seal Colony and Peninsula Walkway**
On my final day in Kaikoura, I visited the Kaikoura Seal Colony, where I saw dozens of New Zealand fur #seals lounging on the rocks. It was fascinating to watch them up close, especially the playful pups. Afterward, I hiked the Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway, a scenic trail that offered stunning views of the coastline, rugged cliffs, and the surrounding mountains. The walk was peaceful and rewarding, with plenty of opportunities to spot seabirds and enjoy the fresh ocean breeze.
Kaikoura was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. From the awe-inspiring whale-watching experience to the serene coastal walks, it was a destination that left me in awe of New Zealand’s natural beauty. With my time in Kaikoura coming to an end, I felt grateful for the incredible memories and looked forward to the next leg of my journey.
Whale watching in Hermanus!
One of things we had on our bucket list during our South African trip was to go whale watching. And there’s no better place in the country for this than at Hermanus! The tour guides were friendly and well educated and the boats we went out on were safe and comfortable. We were lucky to enough to see many whales out and about on our trip. The captain stopped close by so we could take pictures of these gentle giants. Definitely a must do if you’re visiting the Western Cape.

Tenerife whales watching
If you in Tenerife and wish to enjoy sea and sun, you must visit whales watching trip
The ship was very big and fully packed with tourists. You could pick to stay in sun bed and pay 20€ additional or sit on the bench. of course I would recommend you bed for a 6 hours tour
We went from the sea shore and in an hour came to the place with whales. Do not expect much! Canarian whales are tiny, I thought it was dolphins, but no
Then you’ll have tasty lunch with no alcohol drinks. And then we enjoyed some more hours sea trip near beautiful shore#newyearadventure #tenerife #whalewatching
I have never been that close to a seal.
Arriving from Picton to Kaikoura by Intercity bus about 2 hours journey.
As usual a small quiet town but the sea view is pretty soothing.
Day 1. Reached 4pm and decide to take it easy for the day. Went to the city centre for stroll and shop. And head to New World to stock up on fruits, milk, yogurt and breakfast.
Had fish and chip for tonight at Sunny’s Kitchen.
I chose the Blue Cod as the owner cum cook said it’s a better quality fish than Hoki. Chip was $5 and Blue Cod is $14.99.
Fish was flesh, sweet and tender. Portion of fish was small thou.
Day 2 Book whale watching by boat via web Whale Watch Kaikoura. NZD175 for an adult . Instant confirmation. Set off at 10am and back by around 1pm. Same 2 whales and lot of dolphins thou. Felt not worth the money spent. Crews were great.
Went on for a 2.5 hours walk to Kaikoura Peninsula Walkway.
Was surprise to see a colony of seals and baby seals at close proximity. Beauty of which it is FREE!
Back to city centre and took dinner at Strawberry Tree.
Ordered the starter whitebait omelette nzd24 and catch of the day which is a Blue COD nzd36. Dinner was ok nothing to shout out for. Staffs were nice and polite.
Accommodation. The Lazy Shag. Stayed in single room ensuite bathroom. Queensize bed with heater, towels and bath soap. Very nice lady owner . Bed and pillows clean and comfortable. Common area with fridge and fully equipped kitchen.Strongly recommend for no frills stay.
I strongly encourage visitors to NZ to drop by Kaikoura and stay for a night or two.#solotrip #whalewatching #naturalwonders #kaikoura
Caught a glimpse of the whale!
We did a whale watching trip off Gold Coast. It was the first whale watching trip for the season. We set off early in the morning. The water was very rough with strong waves and it made spotting whales more difficult. An hour or so into the journey and soon more and more people had sea-sickness. Some vomited while others laid down on benches, being uncomfortable and detracted from the experience. We saw some operator with small boats in the open ocean---some people had seasick too while others just found it exhilarating. On the other hand, the tour group operators coordinated with one another, radioing each other, giving each other the heads-up so that everyone had a chance to see in the area.
Shortly after, the captain announced their first sighting. Everyone moved close to the lookout points, pointing all directions across the Pacific . Every one of us took out our cameras and started videoing . We managed to mainly just see the backs and the spouts of the whales from a distance - the boys were hoping they were humpback as they could be very active and most likely to breach. It evoked a sense of awe and wonder among the boys and others, as the sheer scale of the whales highlighted the vastness of the natural world. It also created a sense of humility among them as they connected with nature.
The captain moved his yacht nearer and cut the engine until the whales left - to avoid bringing harm and stress to the animals, and also so that we could have a clearer view and more visual taking opportunities.
It was definitely catching a smile while catching a glimpse of the whale experience. ##whalewatching
The Great
The Great Barrier Reef was amazing, #travel #australia and it’s beautiful destinations.

Whale watching at Monterey!
I went to watch whales at Monterey bay. The weather is nice and cold. We took a boat about 2 hours to the whale spots. It was stunning and great experiences!
Around the bay, there are so many shops and restaurants. We got a yummy ice cream. #whalewatching #trip #monterey #california
Whale Watching In Summer
Ever thought of Whale Watching while in the United States? You can if you are in Monterry California where whales can be seen thru out the entire year.
There are packages offered by several Whale Watching company, where we chose Chris Whale Watching due to its really affordable and competitive rates, where they will bring you out to sea for a 4hour ride for approx 60USD per person. And for those who have sea sickness, I do recommend not to go as the waters can get quite choppy especially when the boat stops while waiting for the whales to surface and dive back down. Honestly, we waited for quite abit to see the tail end of these humpback whales.
If you are lucky, you can see a whole lot of them as mentioned by the tour guide himself, but this your is mainly also for educational purposes, knowing about the whales environment and how people are hunting whales which are prohibited.
