Hidden Gems of Northern Italy: a short trip to Susa & Ivrea
💞Reasons to Recommend:
Piedmont is famous for its breathtaking landscapes. During my week-long journey through this region, I discovered two tiny towns: Susa and Ivrea. Here, you won’t find crowds of tourists, allowing you to peacefully enjoy the stunning scenery.
Susa is located in northwestern Piedmont, about 40 minutes by train from Turin. Stroll through its medieval streets, visit the stunning Susa Cathedral, and soak in the mountain views. Here you will also find ancient Roman ruins! Exploring the entire town takes no more than two hours.
Ivrea, situated in the northeastern part of the region, is just a 30-minute ride from Turin. This town is famous for its festival, also known as “Battle of the oranges,” which takes place every year. Don’t miss the Olivetti legacy and a walk along the Dora Baltea River.
Ideal for a day trip, Susa and Ivrea promise an authentic Italian experience away from the crowds!

A wondefrul place 🇮🇹
#summerdestinations
I just returned from an unforgettable summer vacation in Piedmont, Italy, and I'm still in awe of this beautiful region. Nestled in the northwest, Piedmont is a hidden gem that offers a perfect blend of culture, history, and, of course, incredible food and wine. My journey began in Turin, where I explored the magnificent Palazzo Reale. The entrance fee was around €15, but seeing the opulent rooms and stunning gardens was worth every cent.
From there, I ventured to the Langhe region, famous for its vineyards and rolling hills. I visited a local winery for a tasting, which cost about €30 and included a tour of the cellar and a generous sampling of Barolo and Barbaresco wines. The views of the vineyards stretched out as far as the eye could see—truly breathtaking! Nearby, I also stopped by Alba, known for its white truffles and charming medieval streets.
Piedmont is a paradise for foodies and wine lovers, but it also offers so much more. Whether you're hiking in the Alps or exploring historical towns, there's something for everyone. And don’t forget to indulge in the local hazelnut chocolate! 🍫🍷 #trip #Piedmont #WineCountry #ItalyAdventures #CulinaryDelights #HiddenGems
