History and identity • Wukang Road was originally called Route Ferguson, a street established during the period of Westernization. • The buildings on both sides of the street were designed by French, British and Chinese architects who were influenced by Europe. • Prominent buildings such as Wukang Mansion, built in 1924, are French Renaissance style with beautiful curves similar to New York's Flatiron. 🌳 2. The charm of this street • Full of Platanus trees (similar to the ebony tree) providing shade all year round • Very quiet area compared to the city center • A popular place for locals, senior citizens, artists, and international students to relax — ☕️ 3. Highlights & Lifestyle in this area 📸 Must-see photo spots – Wukang Mansion (taken from the opposite side, morning or evening light is great) – Street corner with light filtering through the trees – Wooden doors, old windows Old street signs that still remain – Glass cafe front, clean vintage, every corner looks soft 🧁 Cute cafes and shops – RAC – A very chill Western-style cafe, beautiful shop, good menu – Gathering Cafe – Wooden tones, quiet, suitable for working or reading – Cotton’s Bar – European atmosphere in the garden – Roots – Craft & creative cafe – There are also many Japanese-style bakery, tea, chocolate shops and postcard shops 🎨 Art & Home Decor – There are small art spaces & galleries to walk around – Minimal home decor shops – Handcraft ceramic shops made in Shanghai — 💵 4. Budget • Walking around: Free, no entrance fee • Cafe: Average 40–80 yuan/menu • Subway fare: 3–5 yuan • Total budget for a half-day trip: About 100–150 yuan/person — 💡 5.
