📮 Leave a Note, Sip Some Joy – A Visit to The Note Coffee, Hanoi
After seeing countless glowing reviews and vlogs about The Note Coffee, we decided to drop by and see what the buzz was all about. Tucked away in the heart of the Old Quarter and right beside Hoàn Kiếm Lake, this charming little café offers more than just coffee — it’s a feel-good experience.
We visited in the late morning and were lucky to grab a top-floor window seat, which offered beautiful views of the lake and the streets below. Be aware though — the café is not air-conditioned, so it can get quite warm, especially midday. That said, the warm atmosphere also seemed to keep the table turnover relatively quick.
I ordered a freshly baked croissant, which came warm and crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside — exactly how it should be. Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying their egg coffee, a Vietnamese must-have. It was smooth, sweet, and velvety — a delightful take on the local classic.
What sets this café apart is its signature concept: walls covered in colorful sticky notes, handwritten by visitors from around the world. The notes add a personal, heartwarming touch to the experience, making it feel like you’re part of a global community, all sharing good vibes over coffee.

✅ Final Verdict:
A great stop for a break in the Old Quarter — come for the egg coffee, stay for the view and leave a little note behind. It’s one of those places that’s touristy for a reason.

🥚☕ Hanoi’s Hidden Gem – Discovering the Original Egg Coffee at Café Giảng
When in Hanoi, a visit to Café Giảng is practically a rite of passage—this place is a beloved local institution and a tourist favorite, known widely for its iconic egg coffee. After watching several travel vlogs featuring it, we knew we had to experience it for ourselves.
📍 Tucked away in the heart of the Old Quarter, finding the café adds to the adventure. You’ll need to walk into a narrow alley before the unassuming entrance reveals itself. Once inside, you’ll discover a surprisingly spacious seating area upstairs with plenty of low stools and tables—a truly authentic Vietnamese café setting that immediately transports you to another era.
🖼️ The nostalgic charm of the café is undeniable. The walls are adorned with vintage photos, giving off an old-world vibe that blends perfectly with the simple yet cozy surroundings.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the egg coffee. I couldn’t decide between hot or iced, so I did the only sensible thing—ordered both.
• The hot egg coffee had a velvety, smooth texture and a rich but balanced flavor—creamy with just the right amount of sweetness.
• The iced version had a more distinct, slightly gamy egg note—likely from the raw egg component standing out more when chilled. Personally, I much preferred the hot version for its milder and more harmonious taste.

💬 Final Verdict:
Café Giảng is a must-visit in Hanoi for anyone looking to dive into the city’s unique coffee culture. The experience is local, authentic, and full of character. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just curious, trying egg coffee here is an essential part of the Hanoi journey.
