☕️ Review: Hock Kee Kopitiam 福气安康 (Eco Botanic)
I recently visited Hock Kee Kopitiam at Eco Botanic, a new Malaysian-themed café that’s been getting some buzz. The place has a cozy, nostalgic charm with a modern twist—think rattan chairs, retro tiles, and warm lighting. It’s a lovely space to unwind, and definitely one of those “Instagram-worthy” spots.
I tried a few of their signature dishes, including the nasi lemak and curry laksa. Both were tasty and comforting, with flavors that were familiar and satisfying, though they didn’t quite hit the level of some more established Malaysian eateries. Still, for a café setting, they were more than decent.
What really stood out for me was the coffee and tea. Both were rich, aromatic, and brewed just right. If you’re a fan of classic Malaysian-style drinks, you’ll enjoy them here. I also gave the egg tarts a shot—flaky crust and creamy filling, quite good, though I’ve had better.
The kaya toast, on the other hand, was a bit underwhelming. The bread wasn’t as crisp as I’d like, and the kaya itself lacked that bold, fragrant hit of pandan and coconut. Service-wise, the staff were polite, but the overall attentiveness could use some improvement.
All in all, Hock Kee is a nice place for a casual meal or a relaxing coffee break. I wouldn’t say it’s a destination for top-tier Malaysian food, but I’d return for the drinks and the atmosphere.
