Duck, Noodles & Nostalgia – My Visit to 銘記粥品 at SS2
#summervacay #銘記粥品 #SS2Eats #RoastDuckHeaven #WantonMeeLovers #MalaysiaFoodie #PJHiddenGem #SS2FoodHunt #DuckRiceMalaysia #WontonNoodles #KopitiamVibes
I dropped by 銘記粥品 in SS2 during lunch time, and it quickly became one of my favorite comfort food spots. Despite its name suggesting porridge, the real stars here are the roast duck and wanton mee. And yes, they live up to the hype.
I ordered the Char Siew Wanton mee, and the dish came out fast—fresh egg noodles with that perfect springy bite, tossed in savory dark sauce, topped with slices of glistening roast Char Siew. The wantons in the soup were smooth and flavorful too—no shortcuts here.
The kopitiam vibe added to the experience: simple tables, regulars chatting over hot drinks, and that unmistakable buzz of a good local eatery.
銘記粥品 isn’t just about porridge—it’s a true SS2 icon for roast meats and noodles that keep you coming back.

🍜 Qiao Di Kopitiam @ Eco Botanic – Classic Comfort, Done Right
Dropped by Qiao Di Kopitiam at Eco Botanic and was pleasantly surprised by how solid it was for a no-frills, traditional Malaysian Chinese meal.
I had the wanton mee, and it absolutely delivered. The noodles were cooked just right—springy, not mushy—and tossed in a flavorful sauce that struck a nice balance: not too oily, not too salty. The real highlight? The wantons. Both the crispy fried and smooth poached versions were generously filled and delicious. The fried wantons had a nice crunch, and the poached ones were soft and juicy.
Washed it all down with a cup of cham (coffee + tea blend), and it was everything you’d expect from a proper kopitiam brew—thick, frothy, and packed with flavor.
Prices were really reasonable considering the generous portions, especially compared to other cafés in the area. It’s simple, it’s satisfying, and it doesn’t try to be fancy—just delivers on good, honest food.

Dong Tai Kopitiam – A Breakfast Gem in Ipoh
#springitinerary #DongTaiKopitiam #IpohEats #IpohFoodie #KopitiamVibes #NasiNyonya #TurmericChicken #IpohBreakfast #KayaToast #WhiteCoffee #ClassicMalaysianBreakfast #IpohHiddenGem #MalaysiaFoodie #FoodTrailIpoh #IpohCafeHopping #LocalFlavours
The place is Dong Tai Kopitiam, and if you’re a fan of classic Malaysian breakfast done right, this spot in Ipoh is a must.
I went early in the morning (which I highly recommend because it gets crowded fast), and the vibe was already lively — full of locals, families, and groups of friends enjoying their morning kopi and toast. The interior is clean and modern, but still carries that nostalgic kopitiam charm.
Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying the kaya butter toast and a cup of their white coffee — both were spot-on. The toast was crispy on the outside, soft inside, and the kaya was rich and fragrant without being overly sweet. The coffee was strong, smooth, and had that signature Ipoh richness I absolutely love.
Service was fast despite the morning crowd, and the whole place had a warm, welcoming atmosphere. You can tell it’s a local favorite for a reason.
Whether you’re starting your food trail in Ipoh or just looking for a solid breakfast to fuel your day, Dong Tai Kopitiam is a fantastic choice. I’d go back in a heartbeat!
