Tracing Alhambra’s soul in Kuala Lumpur – a hidden gem for history lovers
#summervacay #june2025 #must-visit #VisitKl
Tucked away in Kuala Lumpur’s tranquil corner, the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC-IIUM) surprised me as one of the most visually and intellectually enriching stops on my summer itinerary. Modelled after the iconic Alhambra, its elegant arches, ornate calligraphy, and inner courtyards feel like stepping into Andalusia—without leaving Malaysia.
What stood out was its curated collection of Malay artifacts: a 19th-century Keris Melayu Semenanjung, its craftsmanship preserved in time, and a copy of Hikayat Binatang—the first printed Malay book on natural history, quietly housed among other antique manuscripts. For those intrigued by the intersection of faith, culture, and intellectual tradition, this place is a treasure.
Travel tip: Best accessed by car or e-hailing services—ISTAC is not directly served by public transit. Check for opening hours in advance, and come during daylight for the most dramatic play of light across its arched walkways.
A must-visit if you love Islamic art, historical depth, and serene architecture.
Ice cream and icons at GUM – Moscow’s most glamorous detour
#summervacay #June2025 #europetrip #moscowlandmarks #must-visit
Every capital has its gathering ground. In Moscow, it’s GUM, a luxurious mosaic of eras. I arrived expecting a high-end mall; I left with a deeper appreciation for Russia’s layered narrative. Between the aroma of fresh pastries, echoes of Russian chatter, and the charm of Soviet-costumed staff serving ice cream, GUM pulses with both elegance and emotion.
Travel tip: Try the classic plombir ice cream while walking the upper galleries—each step offers new angles of this architectural gem. If you’re lucky, you might stumble upon one of their rotating exhibits featuring Soviet posters, Tsarist relics, or modern Russian art.
Time Travel in Zhengzhou: Unlocking 8,000 Years at Henan Museum
#summervacay #discoverchina #musuem #must-visit
In the heart of Zhengzhou, Henan Museum stands as one of China’s finest windows into ancient civilization. Its imposing modern architecture echoes the gravity of its contents—over 170,000 artifacts spanning 8,000 years of Central Plains culture. A visit here isn’t just sightseeing; it’s cultural immersion at its richest.
The museum’s true treasures lie in its unparalleled collection of bronze ware from the Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties, exquisite ceramics, and hauntingly beautiful oracle bones. Each gallery is meticulously curated, weaving history with storytelling and smart digital exhibits that engage without overwhelming. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of Chinese civilization—its roots, rituals, and resilience.
Travel Tips:
• Admission: Free (bring ID or passport for entry).
• Getting There: Easily reached by metro (Line 1, Nongye Road Station) or local taxi.
• Don’t Miss: The immersive theater and the famous Fuhao bronze artifacts.
Street Art, Souvenirs & Sips — Haji Lane Uncovered
#springitinerary #visitsingapore #must-visit #citywalk
Tucked between heritage and hipster, Haji Lane is one of Singapore’s most photogenic spots—and a vibe all its own.
This vibrant alley is a kaleidoscope of color, packed with indie boutiques, buzzing cafés, and curated souvenir shops. Whether you’re hunting for vintage finds, sipping on artisan cold brews, or just window-shopping quirky storefronts, there’s always something new around the corner.
It’s more than a tourist stop—it’s a visual feast. Bold murals, some playful, some provocative, cover almost every wall. Grab your camera and let your feet wander beyond the lane itself—Arab Street and the nearby Sultan Mosque add spiritual charm and architectural beauty to the experience.
By day, the area is a laid-back haven of hidden courtyards and sunlit coffee stops. By night, bars and bistros spill out onto the sidewalk, humming with live music and clinking glasses.
Travel Tip: Go early in the morning for quiet shots of the murals, or visit around sunset for that golden hour glow when the vibe shifts from artsy calm to lively cool.
Haji Lane isn’t just a destination—it’s a story told in color, coffee, and creativity. If you’re in Singapore and crave a different kind of energy, this is where the city’s soul paints outside the lines.
Spring in the City—A Solo Stroll Through KLCC’s Leafy Escape
#springitinerary #klccpark #tourism_malaysia #visitmalaysia2026 #greenary #must-visit
It was a weekday afternoon, the kind when the city buzz fades just slightly. I wandered into KLCC Park alone, camera in hand and no agenda. The sun filtered through towering angsana trees, and fountains sparkled near the jogging track.
I took my time on the footpaths, passed by the vibrant children’s playground—alive with laughter—and then followed the trail toward the mosque’s silhouette.
The air carried a warm breeze, filled with scent of grass and street food from nearby. I paused at the iconic bridge over Symphony Lake for a panoramic view of the Petronas Towers, their reflection rippling across the water. In the heart of modern KL, KLCC Park is spring without sakura—green, graceful, and unexpectedly poetic.
One Day in Pudacuo: Into the Heart of a Highland Dream
#springitinerary #discoverchina #spring #must-visit
I came for the views, but stayed for the stillness that stirred something ancient in me.
In a single spring day, Pudacuo unfolds like a forgotten fairytale. Arriving early, I hiked the wooden paths around Shudu Lake, each step cushioned by the soft chorus of morning dew and distant hooves. Clouds draped over distant peaks like silk, casting shadows that danced on the grassland. I lunched on yak meat and tsampa at a Tibetan-style eco-village, then drifted towards Bita Lake—its turquoise waters a breath of calm against my city-worn soul. Sunset brought golden fire to the trees, and the scent of pine followed me all the way back to the entrance. I didn’t cover every trail. I didn’t need to. Pudacuo is the kind of place where even an hour lingers in your mind like incense—slow, sacred, unforgettable.
A day of magic, memories, and Mickey — Hong Kong Disneyland, you made my heart smile! 🫧
📍Address: Hong Kong Disneyland
[A Whimsical Day at Hong Kong Disneyland]
There’s something magical about stepping into Hong Kong Disneyland — it’s like hitting pause on the real world and diving headfirst into a land of joy.
One of my favorite discoveries? A hidden photo spot right behind the castle! While most people flock to the front, the back offers a quieter, more picturesque view — perfect for that dreamy Disney shot.
I also went on a little hunt for the cutest character hairbands, and trust me, it’s impossible to choose just one. Every shop has something irresistibly adorable.
The Toy Story Land was a burst of color and nostalgia — giant building blocks, spinning rides, and so many fun photo ops. It felt like stepping into Andy’s backyard!
For lunch, I stumbled upon a gem: the Seafood Laksa at Tahitian Terrace. Spicy, creamy, and packed with flavor — it’s a must-try, especially if you’re craving something hearty.
All in all, Hong Kong Disneyland is exactly what you’d hope for — a happy, carefree place where everyone’s inner child comes out to play.

Bean to bar brilliance — indulge in Vietnam’s finest chocolate experience at Maison Marou Saigon! 🍫
📍Address: 167–169 Calmette Street, Nguyen Thai Binh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
[Maison Marou – A Cacao Lover’s Dream in the Heart of Saigon]
Tucked away in the bustling streets of District 1, Maison Marou isn’t just a chocolate shop — it’s a full sensory experience. Even before you step through the doors, the deep, earthy aroma of roasted cacao beans hits you — a scent that instantly pulls you in.
Inside, it’s chocolate heaven. From single-origin bars to delicate bonbons and pastries, everything is beautifully presented and made from Vietnamese cacao. You can even catch a glimpse of the chocolate-making process through their open kitchen — a rare treat for true food lovers.
The highlight of my visit?
The Bánh Tiramisu✨
This local twist on the classic dessert is a must-try — soft, creamy, rich, and just the right touch of sweetness.
If you’re in Ho Chi Minh City and love chocolate (or just great food), don’t skip this place. It’s more than a café — it’s a destination.

Scrolls, Jade, and Stillness: A Quiet Power at the National Palace Museum
#discoverchina #taipei #china #musuem #must-visit
Some treasures don’t sparkle—they whisper.
Tucked in the lush hills of Taipei’s Shilin District, the National Palace Museum feels like a temple to time itself. Housing over 700,000 artifacts spanning thousands of years of Chinese history, it’s not just a museum—it’s a vault of civilization. I walked through halls of jade, silk scrolls, calligraphy, bronze, and ancient ceramics, each piece more than just beautiful—each one a witness.
Of course, the Jadeite Cabbage and the Meat-Shaped Stone draw the crowds, but the real magic is found in the quiet corners: ink paintings with brushstrokes lighter than breath, bronze vessels etched with forgotten rituals, and a timeline that humbles everything outside its walls.
Outside, mist clung to the curved rooftops. Inside, I wandered slowly, as if walking through the memory of an empire.
Getting there: Take MRT Tamsui-Xinyi Line to Shilin Station, then hop on Bus R30 or 255 to the museum entrance.
Archways and Ink Lines: A Day at Guangzhou Cultural Center
#guangzhoutrip #must-visit #myitinerary #citywalk #china #thingstodo #artandculture
Sometimes, culture doesn’t shout—it welcomes you in with carved beams and hidden courtyards.
At Guangzhou Cultural Center, expected to admire traditional architecture. What I didn’t expect was how seamlessly the past and present dance here. Nestled among city buzz, the center is a pocket of calm where southern Chinese design—arched rooftops, red pillars, and wooden lattice windows—stands proud and dignified.
Wandering its halls felt like stepping into a calligraphy scroll. Yet, it wasn’t stuck in the past. The space breathes with life: workshops, exhibitions, quiet reading corners, and on some days—like the one I stumbled into—even a surprise celebration of modern pop culture.
This place doesn’t just preserve history. It invites it to evolve.
Getting there: Take Metro Line 1 to Ximenkou Station-Exit B. Walk about 5 minutes toward the cultural center.
Where Generals Whisper and Pagodas Stand Still: A Day at Tonghuai Guan Yue Temple
#discoverchina #must-visit #quanzhou #ancienttemple
There’s something inexplicably grounding about standing beneath a thousand-year-old rooftop where the echoes of generals still hum in the breeze.
Located at Tumen Street, Quanzhou, Tonghuai Guan Yue Temple is the largest surviving martial temple in Fujian. Built originally in the Song Dynasty and rebuilt in 1927, it stands today as a proud sanctuary devoted to Guan Yu—with Yue Fei added in 1914, earning it the dual dedication and legendary name: Guan-Yue Temple.
The daylight reveals its elegance: a sweeping Minnan-style roof with intricate “swallowtail” ridges and mythical beasts—dragons, phoenixes, lions, and tigers—carved into the architecture, wishing visitors peace and protection. Its wooden frame follows the traditional chuandou construction method, beautifully detailed with stone, wood, and clay carvings.

Where Concrete Speaks in Color — My Afternoon in 798 Art District
#discoverchina #beijing #must-visit #thingstodo
Graffiti on old factory walls. A rusted pipe jutting like sculpture. Even the shadows felt curated.
Beijing’s 798 Art District wasn’t built for tourists—it was born for rebels, thinkers, and dreamers. I wandered through the maze of Bauhaus-style industrial buildings, once a state-run factory complex, now transformed into China’s most avant-garde art space.
Every corner surprised me. Neon Mao portraits. Sculptures made of wires and bones. Cafés with gallery walls and baristas who talk about abstract realism. It wasn’t sterile like a museum—it pulsed with imperfection and rebellion.
798 didn’t just show art; it challenged me. To question beauty, progress, politics. To feel uncomfortable, then inspired. In that moment, I wasn’t just a traveler. I was part of a living canvas.
A Glimpse of Arabia in Quanzhou: Qingjing Mosque
#discoverchina #quanzhou #must-visit #history
While exploring Quanzhou, I stumbled upon a place that felt both ancient and unexpectedly calming — the Qingjing Mosque. Built over a thousand years ago, this humble yet beautiful mosque still stands with graceful arches, a domed prayer hall, and walls etched with Islamic scripture.
The standout for me? A stele from the Ming Dynasty — a royal decree from Emperor Yongle protecting the mosque and its worshippers. It’s a powerful reminder of how China once embraced diversity with open arms.
Entry’s just RMB 3, and it’s only a short walk from the Guandi Temple area. Don’t skip it — even a brief visit offers a meaningful pause and connection to a lesser-known piece of world heritage.
⚠️Reminder: Dress modestly as it’s still a sacred space

Serene Gem in Lijiang’s Jade Dragon Snow Mountain: Blue Moon Lake
#chinatrip #naturalwonders #must-visit #yunnan
Nestled at the foot of the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Blue Moon Lake (Lan Yue Gu) is a breathtaking natural wonder that feels like a scene from a dream. Known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, which reflect the surrounding peaks like a mirror, this alpine lake is a must-visit destination in Lijiang, Yunnan.
During my visit, I was mesmerized by the lake’s ethereal beauty. The water’s vibrant blue hue, caused by mineral deposits, changes with the light, creating a magical effect. Strolling along the wooden walkways, I felt a deep sense of peace as I took in the panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains and lush forests. The gentle sound of the flowing streams added to the tranquil ambiance.

The temple’s dual Hindu and Buddhist influences add a layer of intrigue, making it a fascinating site for history buffs and spiritual seekers alike. While many come for the sunset, I find the temple equally captivating during the quieter hours of the day. The early morning light casts a soft glow on the ruins, and the peaceful atmosphere allows for a deeper connection with the site’s history.
