It would be better if the weather is clear, you will get to enjoy the spectacular view of Matterhorn. Gornergrat is surrounded by almost 29 peaks. Gornergrat Bahn is reachable with the Gornergrat Railway. The pricing of the railway is vary depending on the route and season. With a Swiss Travel Pass, you will get to enjoy a 50% discount. It is recommended to wear water proof shoes. They also offer plenty of activities such as hiking, sledding, skiing, mountain biking and more. You may check their website for more information. ⛰️Hiking is absolutely essential in Zermatt. For the "Five Lakes Hiking Route" we chose the most famous Gornergrat. In order to make it easier to go down the mountain from 3100 kulmhotel, I only brought a simple backpack when I checked in, and my large luggage was stored at the hotel at the foot of the mountain. But even so, we almost cried when we were in our prime. ⛰️I woke up early to watch the sunrise, watching the Matterhorn peak gradually turn into egg yolk red. With an altitude of 3,089m, Gornergrat offers the majestic and breathtaking view of Matterhorn! We were very lucky to have a clear day with great visibility and the views were just out of the world! Switzerland is literally heaven on earth! While Matterhorn is the main attraction, the glaciers surrounding Gornergrat were mesmerising too! We took the train ride from Zermatt to the peak of Gornergrat, smooth and scenic ride, we love it! The top station has a café, gift shop, a small church, a few view points of the peak and for pictures! We spent around 2-3hours at the peak taking photos, taking in the views and had our lunch at the café! Went up to Gornergrat Bahn with CHF88 since we have the Swiss Pass. The view was definitely breathtaking. We were amazed by Switzerland nature. We spent about 4 hours just to appreciate the scenery. Yes, it’s very cold so be prepared to wear thick clothes, heat-tech and gloves. Best if you have a pair of snow shoes to prevent you from falling. When staying in Zermatt, you must choose a hotel room with a view of the Matterhorn (Figures 1-2 are the views taken from the hotel room), because it is so beautiful! The hotel I booked is on the mountain. Although it is a bit far, the price-performance ratio is really high. You can ask the hotel to arrange a taxi. Remember to pay attention to the sunrise time and see the golden mountain of the Matterhorn in the sun🌄 (Figure 1). The small town of Zermatt is also very comfortable! The town is not big but it is recommended to walk around. Opposite the Zermatt train station there is another train that takes you to the Gornergrat observation deck. Chf55/person (with Swiss pass), it takes about 40 minutes to reach the top, and the scenery along the way is also very beautiful. You can also get off the car and take photos when going down the mountain.
