🚤 Crossing the Mekong: A Glimpse of Laos from Thailand
We had the chance to cross over from Thailand into Laos via boat, boarding at the ท่าเรือเอ็นจอย ริเวอร์ (Enjoy River Pier). It was a short but memorable ride across the legendary Mekong River—gentle ripples under the boat, views of lush greenery on both banks, and the feeling that we were truly crossing into another world.
Our boat brought us to Donxao Island (ສວນວັດທະນະທຳບໍ່ແກ້ວ), a small spot on the Laos side that’s part market, part cultural curiosity. We didn’t wander far—mostly loitered around the pier for about an hour—but even that short time was eye-opening.
The place felt raw and rustic. The shops were wooden stalls with zinc roofs, looking like they were assembled with whatever materials were at hand. The merchandise was… unexpected, to say the least. There were jars of snake wine, strange herbal liquors, and preserved animals in bottles. It was fascinating but also unsettling—a true culture shock.
It became immediately clear that we were in a far less developed environment. The infrastructure was rudimentary. Facilities were basic, and cleanliness standards weren’t exactly high. Still, this made the experience feel raw and real—like stepping decades back in time.
Though we didn’t venture far inland, the brief taste of Laos left a lasting impression. It was more of a glimpse than a full visit—but one that highlighted just how much things can change with just one river crossing.

Sabaidee Valley, a resort surrounded by nature in southern Laos
#TravelSouthernLaos
For this trip to Southern Laos, we chose to stay at Paksong because we would have time to ride a motorbike to Tad Fane and Tad Yeung, which were not too far away. We did not have to drive from Pakse city. We chose to stay at ‘Sabaidee Valley Resort’, which is a resort surrounded by nature. It is very relaxing and refreshing to look at.
The room we booked was a Superior Twin Room, which is located in a 2-story building. Inside the room, there are 2 single beds. The room is quite spacious. There is a balcony at the back of the room. There is a sofa bed for sitting and watching TV. The bathroom has complete amenities, including a hair dryer.
⛰️🍃🌿 The atmosphere inside the resort is very refreshing and shady. There are also VIP rooms suitable for guests who want privacy. They are single houses separated from each other in each zone. There is a bar area and a swimming pool, which are areas with beautiful views. The infinity pool contrasts with the natural view. It is very beautiful. The atmosphere is good both day and night.
🍽️ In terms of food, the resort also has a restaurant and a cafe. Dinner If you do not go out to eat at Chang Nok, you can eat at the resort's restaurant. And the price is not expensive. As for breakfast, it is a buffet, which is included in the room rate. It is very worthwhile because there are many types of food to choose from, both international food and local Lao food, which are delicious in many dishes.

Easy Hike, Amazing Views✨
Phousi Hill is a great place to visit during your trip to Luang Prabang. The walk to the top is easy, and along the way, you can enjoy many Buddhas, temples, and beautiful views.
Once you reach the top, you will see stunning views of the rivers and the city. Watching the sunset from Phousi Hill is a nice plan, but be aware that it can get crowded, and the area is quite small. If you want to catch the sunset, I recommend arriving at least an hour before the golden hour to find a good spot.
I highly recommend this spot in Luang Prabang!

Horkham Viewpoint 🌿
Vang Vieng has multiple viewpoints to enjoy the breathtaking scenery, and one of them is Horkham Viewpoint. The hike to the top isn’t too challenging, it only took me about 20 minutes to reach the summit.
Once I arrived, the panoramic views were absolutely spectacular, and the atmosphere was so peaceful. I went around lunchtime and only saw three other people there, which made it even nicer.
At the top, there’s also an airplane and a unicorn decoration, where you can take nice pictures.
If you’re visiting Vang Vieng and enjoy hiking, I highly recommend Horkham Viewpoint!

A hidden gem in nature
A nice plan in Vang Vieng is to visit one of the blue lagoons. Since I prefer places that aren’t crowded, I chose to go to Blue Lagoon 3. I had a peaceful and relaxing experience there. The area is stunning, surrounded by nature, and is the perfect spot for swimming and having fun.
There’s also a small restaurant where you can enjoy lunch or snacks, making it easy to spend the day without needing to leave.
If you’re visiting Vang Vieng, I highly recommend Blue Lagoon 3. It’s a bit further than the other lagoons but less crowded, which makes the experience much more enjoyable and pleasant.

Rose' Cafe, a minimalist cafe in Pakse, South Laos.
#GetDiscountsWithoutLuck
Rose’ Cafe and Bar is a minimalist cafe in white tones, contrasting with the color of the wood, giving a simple but warm feel with soft orange lighting decorations. The shop is located in Pakse city. There is an entrance, but if you come for the first time, you have to walk to find it because the shop has made it an entrance for parking motorcycles. Because if you drive to find it, you may pass the shop many times. But it is easy to find the shop because it is all white. Because from the map of the shop, it is not quite the same as the shop. You have to walk and look for it again.
The shop has many menus of drinks and bakery. And from what I ordered, it was delicious and refreshing. I like it very much. Traveling in the heat, drinking delicious menus is very cool. There is also a corner for taking pictures and checking in in a minimalist style. 💖
