Bodia Spa stands out as one of Phnom Penh’s premier wellness destinations, offering a thoughtfully curated experience. Unlike standard massage parlors, Bodia prides itself on using self-formulated ingredients—custom-crafted soaps, oils, and scrubs that add a unique, artisanal touch to the session.
The massage itself was excellent. With skilled therapists who cater to individual preferences, I was able to specify focus areas, ensuring a truly tailored relaxation experience. The Khmer massage, deeply rooted in traditional techniques, provided both therapeutic relief and rejuvenation.
Of course, such refinement comes at a premium. At USD 35 for a 60-minute Khmer massage, Bodia is noticeably pricier than other local massage spots. But the combination of expertise, ambiance, and high-quality ingredients made it a worthwhile indulgence—a moment of tranquility in the heart of the bustling city.

At Kiri Thai, I found myself savoring a fusion of flavors—a Thai cuisine subtly touched by Khmer influences. The meal was a satisfying spread: Tom Yum, its broth rich with tangy citrus and a slow-building heat; curry, fragrant and hearty, enveloping each bite with warm spices; and fried mixed basil, a delightful balance of crisp texture and herbal freshness. A chilled beer accompanied it all, rounding off the experience with a refreshing contrast to the bold flavors.
The interplay of Thai techniques and Khmer nuances in the dishes was unmistakable, making the meal more than just another Thai lunch—it was a cross-cultural culinary experience. The depth of spice, the balance of sweetness, and the comforting familiarity of basil left an impression that lingered long after the last sip of beer.

During my visit to Phnom Penh, I had the opportunity to explore the National Museum of Cambodia. With an entrance fee of USD 10, I stepped into a space that housed centuries of Khmer history, primarily featuring artifacts from Buddhism and Hinduism.
The museum’s collection consisted largely of statues—silent sentinels of the past—each bearing the artistic and spiritual imprint of a bygone era. Among them were pieces originating from Angkor Wat, their intricate carvings whispering stories of an empire that once flourished.
The experience was brief, lasting only about 30 minutes before the tour concluded. While the museum’s treasures were undeniably rich in cultural significance, I found myself wishing for more context, perhaps a deeper dive into the narratives behind each artifact. Nonetheless, it was a worthwhile stop, offering a glimpse into Cambodia’s artistic and spiritual heritage within a condensed timeframe.

My Journey to Ta Som
As mentioned earlier, while traveling from Tosom to Cambodia, I stayed at the Mad Monkey Hotel in Phnom Penh and planned to visit as many temples as possible in Cambodia. Ta Som Temple was one of the places I was excited to see.
I took a bus from the capital to Siem Reap, and after arriving, I rented a tuk-tuk to get to the temple. The journey was enjoyable, with roads surrounded by trees and charming nature. Upon arrival, the tranquility of the place caught my attention, making it different from the busiest temples.
My journey began by entering through a stone gate adorned with ancient carvings, then wandering through corridors between walls covered by the roots of giant trees. The place was filled with amazing historical details, and I spent time exploring hidden corners and taking photos.
Before leaving, I sat for a while to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, then returned to Siem Reap with a unique experience of this ancient place.

I visited Cambodia as part of my Southeast Asia travel plan. After arriving at the capital city, Phnom Penh, I stayed at the Mad Monkey Hotel with an interesting atmosphere. It was a really great place to stay, and I had various experiences during my one month stay in Cambodia.
Today, I'm going to talk about my trip to Angkor Wat.
I left Siem Reap early in the morning, before the sun rose, by Tuk Tuk.
In the quiet morning air, there were huge trees lining the road. Haha, the scenery was so beautiful that it was a really enjoyable trip.
After arriving at the entrance, I bought a ticket and crossed the bridge to enter the temple.

And when we reached the top floor, the view was truly spectacular.
After touring the main temple, we also visited nearby temples such as Bayon and Ta Prohm.
There, we could see the mystical landscape of giant trees and old stones.
Before returning, we sat in a quiet place and admired the grandeur of this historic site.
And we returned with this wonderful experience in our hearts.

Positioned at the center of the city's bustling night market, the hotel’s location brought both energy and challenges. On weekends, the streets became particularly congested, making entry difficult. Fortunately, the use of tuk-tuks allowed for easier navigation through the crowded roads, weaving through the congestion with ease.
Once inside, the hotel provided a quiet and comfortable retreat from the market’s lively atmosphere. The room was simple but well-maintained, offering a clean and cozy space to unwind. Despite its modest design, the atmosphere was welcoming and provided everything needed for a pleasant stay.

Stepping into the largest AEON Mall in Phnom Penh is like entering a microcosm of modern Cambodia—an immense, vibrant space where international brands and local delights collide. The scale alone impresses, but it’s the curated blend of experiences that leaves a lasting mark.
During my visit, I couldn’t resist picking up two iconic Cambodian treats: Kampot pepper, renowned globally for its depth and aroma, and crispy local jackfruit cookies that burst with tropical sweetness. While prices for many items lean toward the premium side—especially when displayed in dual currency (USD and riels)—the mall reflects a growing appetite for quality and choice.
The selection is vast: from luxury fashion and global franchises to more functional outlets like D.I.Y, which pleasantly surprised me with its variety. A Stroll Through Phnom Penh’s Beating Heart: The Independence Monument & Park
#summervacay #cambodianheritage #phnom_penh #monument
walked toward the Independence Monument, rising proudly from the center of a buzzing traffic junction—its reddish spire cutting through the cityscape like a sentinel of Cambodia’s resilience. Encircled by motorbikes and honking cars, the monument stood still, timeless, as if untouched by the city’s modern rush.
Crossing carefully to the other side, I found something unexpected: a wide, open park in the median of the road—a calm within the chaos. Cambodians of all ages were jogging, walking, laughing. Some shared quiet moments on benches, others trained in groups under the fading sun. The energy was unforced, the scene authentic.
This space felt more than just a landmark—it was a pulse point. A place where history and everyday life met in motion. The monument told a story of struggle and freedom; the park told a story of endurance and community.
It’s a place not just to visit, but to observe, reflect, and breathe—right in the middle of Phnom Penh’s heartbeat.
Touching Down in Phnom Penh: A First Glimpse into Cambodia’s Capital
#summervacay #phnom_penh #cambodia #phnompenhitinerary
Stepping off the plane, I took my first breath of Phnom Penh’s warm, humid air—welcoming yet unfamiliar. The airport, modest yet efficient, bustled with travelers navigating their arrivals and departures. My first mission: securing a local SIM card. A quick exchange, $5 handed over, and I was officially connected, ready to explore without the tether of unreliable WiFi.
Next, I summoned a Grab to my downtown hotel. As I rode through the streets, the city slowly unraveled before me—motorbikes weaving through traffic, roadside stalls selling fragrant dishes, and a blend of colonial and modern architecture telling tales of Phnom Penh’s evolving identity. The ride itself was smooth, yet every turn revealed something new, a preview of the experiences waiting just beyond the hotel doors.
Landing in a new city always carries a mix of excitement and uncertainty. But with my SIM card set, my ride completed, and the city stretching before me, Phnom Penh had just opened its first chapter in my story.
