A quick stop at the Sapporo Clock Tower gave me a glimpse into the city’s history—and it looks especially charming in winter. For lunch, I headed to Suage, a local favorite for soup curry. The broth was rich, the toppings were hearty, and I highly recommend adding cheese to your rice. Game changer! Later on, I browsed gifts at Rokkatei, a famous sweets shop near the station. Their packaging is as beautiful as the treats inside—perfect for souvenirs (and for snacking on the train). To end the day, I had sushi at Nemuro Hanamaru inside the station building. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly affordable. It’s the kind of place where you want to try “just one more plate”… five times. I was originally planning to try the nearby Happy Pancakes, but it felt a bit uncreative to eat the same thing every time I visit Japan, so I looked for other recommendations. Sapporo Pancake & Parfait Last Mint is one of the filming locations for the Japanese drama FIRST LOVE. Although I haven't watched the drama, I came here because I thought the decoration looked very unique! Although it was the weekend, we entered the store half an hour before closing time, so there were not many customers in the store and we didn't need to queue, but we couldn't sit there for too long. As soon as you enter the store, a clerk wearing a cute light green uniform comes to show you to your seat. The different levels of green furniture and colorful tiles in the store create a retro atmosphere, and there are many delicate decorations suitable for taking beautiful photos for the Internet. The English songs played in the store also follow an old-school style, although they remind you of Fallout (otaku). Although the store name is Parfait on Google map, I don’t see any sundae on the menu. There is a sundae shop with a similar style on the first floor. I guess they sell different items separately. When half an apple is cut open, it is filled with cream, which makes the taste more layered. I feel very satisfied after eating the whole portion. Opening January 2024, the 15th-floor city view rooms are 17 square meters. As soon as I saw the January opening, I booked it right away! Located above the new department store connected to Exit 5 of Susukino Station, it's super convenient for dining and shopping. Plus, the supermarket downstairs stays open late, making it great for late-night purchases. There are also plenty of excellent restaurants nearby for dining. Unfortunately, the bathhouse is only available for higher-tier room types. However, there's an observation deck upstairs where you can enjoy the night views! You can see two Ferris wheels, creating a dazzling nightscape—definitely worth checking out. We stayed in the '+' Superior Double Room this time, which is on a higher floor than the standard rooms. The room's decor is simple yet elegant, and it even features a Marshall speaker, which is super trendy 😎. At night, you absolutely must sit by the floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy the night view while having a late-night snack. It's truly a worthwhile stay 💗. The highlight is that we snagged a discounted rate on Trip, including breakfast, for two nights at just $5276! The breakfast options are diverse and delicious, with slight variations over the two days, making it so satisfying that you won't even need lunch 🤣

Day 5 Leave Niseko and drive through #toyalake even though it was raining and the weather was not good. Then drive back to Sapporo to return the car. This time, I booked #vessel inn, a convenient hotel near the shopping mall and St. Nakajima koen near Susukino area. You can walk there. After returning the car, I walked around the city to #sapporo clock tower and went to find Izagaya. There were a lot of them. You can find them everywhere. Then take the train to #sapporobeermuseum. I tried the beer tasting set. I got 3 types. They were smooth and delicious. They were all soft to bitter. In the evening, I went back to walk around #susukino. Day 6 In the morning, there was a sashimi buffet from the hotel. But I was afraid of getting too rich, so I booked without food. But I bought one more meal to try. It depends on the person. For me, it was worth it. But if you ask about the taste, it was still okay. Today, I walked around Sapporo city. I stopped by #Nijo Market, a fish market with fresh seafood and big crabs. Then I walked to #clocktower, which is a bit like a museum. Then go try the matcha at the shop #dmatchaKyotoSapporo The shop owner is very cute. There are green tea and snacks as a welcome drink for you to try. The green tea is not bitter. This shop has a little bit of seaweed. It is a premium grade. Otaru Canal, a small town in Hokkaido that looks like it came out of a postcard. But today, I won't be sweet. I want to review it spicy like a person who loves cold weather! Because I went when it was snowing in the daytime — I must say that it was like being transported to a Japanese movie where the hero would stop in front of me (but in reality, the snow was so deep in my face that I almost forgot to breathe!) 🤣🤣🤣 ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️The atmosphere was amazing! Soft, fluffy snow fell gently covering the roof of an old red brick warehouse by the canal. The water in the canal was still and calm, reflecting the buildings and snowflakes in a way that was so pleasing to the eye. Anyone who loves taking pictures must bring a power bank because the angles are beautiful every 5 steps. But the spiciness is... the temperature is -3 degrees, strong winds, and snow hitting my face like I was being visited by sin, but it couldn't stop me from walking and taking pictures like a heroine in a music video! I recommend that anyone who goes there bring a hot pack and a heart that is ready to be icy premium. My hands were frozen! For those who like a romantic and heart-stoppingly cold, Otaru with snow falling in the daytime is the answer. But if you like something warm...just turn on the heater at home! Mount Moiwa, a check-in spot that makes the term “million-dollar view” look down on! If Sapporo is the heart of Hokkaido, Mount Moiwa is the spot that makes your heart beat ten times faster! Take the cable car through the clouds to the top of Mount Moiwa. Just seeing the 360-degree panoramic view of Sapporo City will make you forget to breathe! During the day, it’s so amazing, seeing the white snow covering it. Every year in the beginning of February Sapporo festival is held around Odori park. Pros: - every year there are new snow sculptures to see - international competition of snow sculptures and even snowboard tournaments. ( depending on the year.) - street food ( sometimes they offer free food like ramen ) - free beer. Yes thats right! ( the line moves quickly too ) - entertainment ( singing events, competition etc) - chocolate rum and other interesting alcohol mix. Cons - weekend is so busy… unless you dont mid the crowd i suggest to visit during the weekdays or go to otaru. - thousands of people walk on the same snowy floor and some areas can be veryy slippery from all the people stepping on the same ground. On New Year’s Eve, we headed to a popular ramen spot in Susukino called Keyaki. We enjoyed bowls of miso ramen, warming us up as we rang in the new year. It was the perfect way to celebrate the occasion—savoring rich, flavorful ramen in the heart of Sapporo. One thing to note is that many shops are closed on New Year's Day, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead. But, we still managed to enjoy some amazing sushi at Triton, where we didn’t mind waiting in line for the incredibly fresh and delicious sushi—it was definitely worth it! We stayed for three nights at Sapporo Excel Hotel Tokyu, and it was fantastic. Our room had a massage chair, which made for a super comfortable and relaxing stay after a day of exploring. What I loved most about our Sapporo trip was that it wasn’t overrun with tourists. The atmosphere was laid-back, and we really got to enjoy the local culture without the crowds. #favouriteitinerary Travelling from Sapporo station to the Hill of the Buddha. We took the train Namboku Line from Sapporo station to the last station, Makomanai station. Once exit from Makomanai station we headed to the bus station on the left of the exit to take bus 106/ 108. Bus 106 will alight at 滝野峠 which is the outside of the Hill of the Buddha, you will need to walk pass the stonehenge before entry to Hill of the Buddha. If taking bus 108 it will alight at 管理事务所前, which is the inner part of the Hill of the Buddha. Do take note of the bus timing on Google map as the bus frequency is hourly. We just missed the bus when we reached the train station thus we took a taxi which cost about $3500 Yen about 9-10 km. As we visiting during the winter there is all snow but it is very nice as well. As per the official website July will have lavender field. The Hill of the Buddha (Buddha Hill) is a stunning architectural and spiritual site. The stone statue of the Great Buddha is a beloved symbol of Makomanai Takino Cemetery. Looking from outside we are able to see the Buddha head in the middle of the snow dome as per picture No 2. In order to go in we have to pay an entrance ticket that costs $300 Yen/pax. Once we entered our left there was a washroom for visitors and Rotunda Cafe which served some coffee, tea and dessert. We tried their Croffles, it was very delicious. After our tea break we walked through a 40m tunnel to reach the Buddha statue. The Buddha statue was encircled by a concrete dome which makes it different from other Buddha statues. The body of Buddha was covered by some snow as these few days Hokkaido snows a lot. There are some wooden votive tablets if you would like to make a wish which cost $800 Yen and there are some votive lanterns if you would like to write a wish and light the lantern which cost $500 Yen. Hill of the Buddha is a very nice place to visit as you will be able to feel the sense of zen over here. It will be great to come in July as there supposed to be a Water Garden but due to winter it was frozen and there isn't any lavender field.
