Guyin Waterfall is located in Huangtong Town, Lingao County. It’s about an hour’s drive from Haikou and offers a peaceful escape from the busy city. The waterfall is beautiful, with cool mist and quiet trails, perfect for relaxing and enjoying nature. The trail is very easy and suitable for everyone. If you drive, there’s a parking area nearby, plus a few shops where you can grab drinks or snacks before heading in. We took bus and chose ancient hence it costs us 90 yuan 📍Flaming Mountain - 40 yuan if I'm not mistaken. Famous because of Journey to the West. Kumtag Desert quite far, instead of taking the train back from Turpan station, we were told to board the train from Shanshanbei as it much more nearer to the desert. From Hangzhou, it’s about a 2-hour drive to Yiwu’s Lizhu Village, also known as the so-called “Little Dali”. Honestly? It looks great in photos, but in reality, it’s a bit underwhelming. The village is small — a simple local spot that’s been lightly renovated for tourism. There are a few typical photo spots and some small, trendy shops, which make it Instagram-friendly, but that’s about it. If you’re visiting with kids, there are a few DIY activities like tie-dye workshops, pottery, or a little garden farm — nice for families, but not a major highlight. To be fair, some of the cafés here are lovely. It’s larger, quieter, and more modernized than Dongzha. The entire area is crisscrossed with canals, stone bridges, and old-style residences. Many traditional houses are now boutique hotels, cafés, bookstores, and tea houses, but still keep their old-world style. Just got back from Shanghai, I have to review Ji Hotel (Fuzhou Road). In short, it was better than expected! The bed was soft, the room had a heater, the bathroom was clean, and the toilet and shower areas were separated. 🍜 The hotel is surrounded by delicious restaurants, the dessert shop next to the hotel is delicious, there is mala, and plenty of street food. 🚇 It is close to the BTS, so you can walk there easily. Good price: Compared to the location and quality, this price is very good value. Just spent a day exploring Yiwu, and it’s so much more than just a business city! I started my trip at Yiwu Railway Station, super convenient and well-connected. From there, first stop — food, of course! Yiwu is surprisingly known for its Middle Eastern cuisine, thanks to its huge international trade scene. We grabbed lunch at a local Middle Eastern restaurant — kebabs, hummus, and freshly baked bread — honestly, better than I expected. Don’t miss Lei Feng Fruit Juice, a popular spot nearby for fresh, made-to-order juices. Perfect for cooling down before diving into shopping. Next up was the famous Yiwu International Trade Market, specifically the District 1 East Expansion Area. If you’ve never been, imagine a shopping mall the size of a small town — endless rows of shops selling everything from accessories to electronics. It’s overwhelming, but fascinating. Even if you’re not buying wholesale, it’s worth walking around to see the scale of global trade in action. Standing on the observation deck of the Ping An Finance Centre, you’re literally on top of one of the tallest buildings in the world — and the views are breathtaking. From up here, you can see all of Shenzhen, the mountains in the distance, and even into Hong Kong on a clear day! What made the experience even cooler was seeing the mass tuned damper — a massive piece of engineering that helps stabilize the tower against wind and earthquakes. It’s not something you get to see every day, and it added an unexpected educational twist to the visit. There were certain times that people were allowed into see the damper, but it went pretty smoothly. The elevators are super fast (your ears will pop!), and everything is clean and well-organized. Most people will drop by this village after their visit to Yulong Mountains. Unexpectedly, there are several interesting F&B options and shopping to be explored. If it was not raining, I would have like to try the horse riding path to the lake, alas, mayhaps next time. Tip: Take the buggy ride into and out of the village from the visitor center. #yunnanguide this is such an amazing place packed full with culture and experiences, I went to so many places and here are just some - 1. Yila Grassland - a huge expanse of grassland and sky where you can wear a traditional outfit and ride a horse around to explore and take pictures with cultural backdrops 2. Dukezong - world’s largest prayer wheel in Shangri-La, “Little Tibet”, spin it a complete round for your wishes to come true 3. Songzanlin Monastery - an ancient building complex with intricate and traditional Tibetan architecture and culture 4. Pudaco National Park - a really huge park with lots of forests and lakes 5. Tiger Leaping Gorge - legend has it a tiger leaped across these raging waters and that’s how this place got its name 6. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Lijiang Impressions and Blue Moon Valley - this is such a majestic and beautiful place, make sure you save some time to see the valley, the blue waters are a sight to behold in person (we spent too much time at the mountain and had barely any left for this) 7. Lijiang Old Town - vibrant place to explore shops and eats but if you have a weak stomach maybe avoid some of the spicier or crazier stuff 8. Shaxi Ancient Town - idyllic small ancient town with pretty streets and chill vibes 9. Dali Old Town - lots of pretty old towns and this is one of them 10. Stone Forest - a little underwhelming at first but some parts with the natural rock formations are really quite cool, you just have to venture deeper to find them There’s lots more but it’s hard to cover in one post… there are some other forests (like Cangshan) and lake areas (like Erhai) that are worth checking out too if you like nature! #yunnan #lijiang #dali #kunming #travel #china
