We visited a small park near the islet of Vila Franca, located in Vila Franca do Campo, a charming town in the southern part of São Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal. The islet, less than 1 km from the park, is uninhabited and primarily composed of basalt. It serves as a popular spot for recreational activities such as cliff diving and snorkeling during the summer. The islet features an almost perfectly circular bay with a diameter of 150 meters and is one of the nature reserves in the Azores. During our visit, the weather was cloudy and rainy. #citywalk Foz do Douro is a district in Porto located at the mouth of the Douro River facing the Atlantic Ocean. We took tram no. 1 from the first stop at Infante (next to Church of Saint Francis) to the last stop at Passeio Alegre (next to Jardim do Passeio Alegre). From there we walked leisurely along the picturesque coastline until Avenida Brasil. We passed by Farol de Felgueiras lighthouse and Fortaleza de São João da Foz, a 16th-century fort, before reaching the beaches. The Atlantic coastline in Foz comprises of small sandy beaches nestled between granite outcrops. We enjoyed watching the huge Atlantic waves break onto the magnificent outcrops. The outcrops are ancient rocks about 300 million years old formed due to erosion of sea waves. My journey began with a leisurely walk past #Riazorbeach, where a couple locals were out for a swim braving the frigid #atlantic ocean. As I continued, I passed the tranquil #orzan Beach, a haven for beachgoers basking in the warmth of the day. Ascending the gentle incline towards the iconic #torredehercules, the world’s oldest functioning lighthouse, the panoramic view expanded, revealing a breathtaking vista of the endless horizon.
