🍢 A Tasty Stroll Through Tsukiji Outer Market – Tamagoyaki, Ramen, Seafood & Soft Serve 🍦
Our visit to Tsukiji Outer Market was a memorable one — a lively, bustling haven filled with smells of grilled seafood, sweet egg rolls, and simmering broths. While the wholesale fish auctions have moved to Toyosu, the outer market retains its charm with countless food stalls and historic eateries.
Here’s a recap of the street food I tried:
1. Tamagoyaki – Marutake vs. Tsukiji Yamacho
Tamagoyaki is a signature food here. I sampled two of the most well-known shops:
• Marutake: Juicy, warm, and slightly sweet — my personal favorite. Even spotted sumo wrestlers queueing for it!
• Tsukiji Yamacho: Drier, more refined in flavor — like a well-aged sake compared to a fresh one. Still delicious, just different.
I’d suggest trying both to see which style you prefer.
2. Ramen – Wakaba Ramen
A humble bowl steeped in history — this shop was said to have served breakfast to the fishmongers of old Tsukiji. The ramen was simple and comforting, like wanton mee in Japan. Noodles were soft, broth was light but flavorful, and the char siu was tender and savory.
3. Seafood Stick – Kibun Foods Inc. (Tsukiji Head Office)
Couldn’t resist the aroma coming from Kibun Foods Inc., so I grabbed one of their seafood sticks. It was hot, springy, and flavorful — kind of like a gourmet fish cake on a stick. A satisfying and very “Tsukiji” bite that’s easy to eat while on the move.
4. Black Sesame Soft Serve – Marutama
To end the foodie stroll, I had the black sesame soft serve from Marutama. Creamy, earthy, and not overly sweet — a refreshing treat to cap off the experience.
If you’re planning a visit to Tokyo, make sure Tsukiji Outer Market is on your list. It’s more than just a place to eat — it’s a slice of Japan’s culinary culture.

Flavors of Tsukiji: A Street Food Adventure in Tokyo!
#foodiejourney
My trip to Tsukiji Market in Tokyo was a food lover’s paradise! The market was buzzing with energy, and I dove straight into the street food scene. First up: juicy grilled lobster with butter dripping down—absolutely delicious! Next, I tried giant scallops cooked to perfection, tender and bursting with flavor.
The fresh fruit stands were too tempting to pass up, so I grabbed a sweet, juicy strawberry skewer. Every bite was like tasting pure sunshine!
Tsukiji Market was a feast for the senses—every corner had new smells, sights, and flavors to explore. If you love food, this is the place to be!

Tsukiji Hongwan-ji
Large Buddhist Temple located right across the street from Tsukiji Fish Market. It takes about a 5 min walk. From the exterior, it definitely do not look like a temple, so it was pretty cool to see the different architecture of temples in central Tokyo. You can go inside for free and I recommend you stop by the cafe too if you are visiting the area. They serve lunch, dessert and tea too. #temple #japan #buddhism #tsukiji #tsukijimarket

🥚 Tamagoyaki Showdown at Tsukiji – Marutake Takes the Win!
While exploring the vibrant Tsukiji Outer Market, I decided to try two of the most popular tamagoyaki shops located just a few steps apart — and after tasting both, Marutake stood out as my personal favorite.
Their tamagoyaki was incredibly juicy and moist, with a soft, custard-like texture that melted in the mouth. It had just the right amount of sweetness, and every bite felt light yet satisfying. Compared to the other nearby shop, Marutake’s version was more “wet” and flavorful, and I found myself enjoying it more with each bite.
The queue outside the stall spoke for itself — even sumo wrestlers were patiently lining up to get their hands on it, which added a fun and unexpected moment to our visit. Despite the crowd, the staff kept things moving quickly and with a friendly attitude.
The price was very affordable, so I’d definitely recommend trying both tamagoyaki shops and deciding for yourself — but if you ask me, Marutake wins for its rich texture and bold flavor.

🍢 Trying Tamagoyaki at Tsukiji Yamacho – A Tasty Comparison Stop
While exploring the lively Tsukiji Outer Market, we noticed something interesting—there were quite a number of tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) shops scattered around, which stood out among all the seafood stalls. We made it a mission to try the two most well-known tamagoyaki shops there, and Tsukiji Yamacho was one of them.
The service was quick and friendly, and we each got a stick of their signature tamagoyaki. The texture was soft yet firm enough to hold shape, and the flavor was pleasant—mildly sweet with a gentle umami. Personally though, I found this version slightly drier and more “refined” in taste, almost like how a dry wine would compare to a fruitier one.
It was still a good and satisfying bite, and worth trying if you’re doing a little tamagoyaki taste tour like we did. Between the two, I preferred the other one we tried (felt juicier and more layered in taste), but Tsukiji Yamacho still delivered a quality skewer.

🐟 A Taste of Tradition – Exploring Tsukiji Outer Market
I’ve always wanted to visit Tsukiji Outer Market, and this trip to Tokyo finally gave me the chance. The moment we stepped into the area, I was instantly immersed in the energy of a traditional Japanese morning market. The narrow streets were bustling with locals and tourists, and the scent of grilled seafood and sweet tamagoyaki filled the air.
There were countless eateries and small food stalls lining both sides of the market. Tamagoyaki seemed to be the star of the show—many stalls were offering it freshly made, and I couldn’t resist trying a skewer. Sweet, warm, and fluffy—it definitely lived up to the hype. There were also many stalls serving fresh sashimi, grilled scallops, sea urchin, and more. I was tempted by the sight of flame-torched seafood being served up on the spot.
Even though the wholesale market has moved to Toyosu, Tsukiji’s outer market still retains that old-school charm and vibrant street food culture. It’s a great spot to just stroll, snack, and soak in the atmosphere. I’d say it’s a must-visit if you want to experience the soul of Tokyo’s food scene in its most authentic form.

Tsukiji Fish Market (ตลาดปลาซึกิจิ)
Tsukiji Fish Market is the most famous fish market in Tokyo, Japan. Inside the market, there are 2 zones: the outer zone and the inner zone. But today, we will take everyone to follow the famous restaurants in the outer zone. Since the day we went was a national holiday in Japan, the inner zone was closed. We couldn't go in. 🥲
After a little introduction, let's see what we ate. 🍴🇯🇵
🥩 Grilled Wagyu Beef is skewered Wagyu beef. There are many restaurants to choose from. I have to say that the fragrant meat is best when dipped in wasabi. It's soft and delicious. You'll understand the word "light comes out of your mouth" when you try it. 🤩
🍣 There are many restaurants selling raw fish rice bowls. There are many prices and toppings to choose from. And most importantly, the fish is very fresh. My friend who didn't like to eat raw fish tried it here and could eat it. He really liked it. ❤️
🦪 Giant Oyster Fresh oysters, there are many grades and many sources that import. Eat it with a little bit of lemon juice. It's so delicious. Full mouthful. 🤤
🍵 Matcha Stand Maruni is a famous green tea shop. It's not hard to find because there are a lot of people queuing up. We can choose the strength we want. Single shot or Double shot. The tea is fragrant and tastes good. So delicious. 🍃
🥔 Sweet Potato Chips The shop is on the corner of the alley of the matcha shop. Personally, I feel that it's a bit greasy. It might be because the chips have been left out for a long time until they're cold. In conclusion, it's not that great. 😅
🥚 Tamakoyaki from the famous shop Yamacho (Yellow Tent Sweet Egg Shop). There were a lot of people queuing up, but I didn't have to wait long. I personally feel that the taste is a bit too sweet. It might be suitable for those who like sweet things. 👍🏻
All of these that we ate are very few. There are still many shops to try. I hope this post will help guide you to get to know the shops in the fish market. 😍
📍 Tsukiji Outer Fish Market: Get off at Tsukiji station on the Hibiya line, exit 1, walk straight for about 450 meters.

Tsukiji Fish Market, my favorite place 🎌🐟🍣🍺⛩️
If you go to Tokyo, Japan, one place you definitely have to go is Tsukiji Fish Market. After waking up, I recommend having breakfast here. The earlier in the morning, the less crowded it is. Around 7-7.30 am or no later than 8 am is the best time. The food is fresh, especially the sashimi, tuna, uni, oh my, so fresh and sweet. The price may be a bit high because it focuses on selling to tourists, but I guarantee that if it's fresher than this, you have to go down to eat it in the ocean. #tsukijimarket #japan
