Tranquility by the Water: A Stroll Through Seoho Park
Tucked away in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, Seoho Park is a hidden gem that offers a quiet, soul-refreshing escape from the buzz of city life. I stumbled upon it during a spring weekend getaway, and what I found was more than just a scenic lake—it was a pocket of peace, a place that invited me to slow down, breathe deep, and reconnect with nature.
From the moment I arrived, the park’s calming vibe set the tone. The central feature of Seoho Park is its picturesque lake, which reflects the surrounding trees and sky like a painting. I visited in late April, and the cherry blossoms were still clinging delicately to the branches, fluttering in the breeze like soft confetti. The walking path that loops around the lake is well-maintained, dotted with benches where you can sit and soak in the views. It’s perfect for a casual stroll, jogging, or even just people-watching.
What mattered most to me, though, was the quiet serenity. Unlike larger, more crowded parks, Seoho has a local charm—families picnicking, elderly couples walking hand-in-hand, and kids giggling near the playground. There’s even a small outdoor gym area if you want to squeeze in some movement. But honestly, I just loved sitting on a bench near the water, sipping a coffee, and watching the reflection of the clouds drift lazily across the lake.
I highly recommend spring (late March to early May) for cherry blossoms or autumn (October to early November) when the leaves turn golden and crimson. Early morning or just before sunset is especially magical, with golden light shimmering across the water.
Getting there: Seoho Park is located in Suwon’s Jangan-gu district, easily accessible by local buses or a 10-minute taxi ride from Suwon Station. You’ll find ample parking nearby if you’re driving.
Bonus tip: Stop by the local cafes just across from the park—many have rooftop seating with perfect lake views!
