🔆Importance/Characteristics
Wat Khiriwihan was originally called Wat Tha Luean or Wat Phu Khao Yuan. Later, when the French came to rule Trat, they appointed the abbot as Phra Khru Ratthaphimuk and called this temple "Wat Phu Khao Yuan". When Thailand regained Trat from the French, the name of this temple was changed. His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch, Prince Vajirananavarorasa, granted 3 names to choose from: Khiri Weswihan, Weskiri Wikarn and Khiri Wihan. Located in Ban Tha Luean, it is an ancient temple that is more than 110 years old and is an important ancient temple in Trat Province. Built since 1887, this temple was built by the abbot. It took 27 years to build, but the entire temple has been renovated to look new. Situated on a mountain, you can see the view below of the forest, mountains, and the sea. The atmosphere is shady and peaceful. It is a small forest garden with teak trees planted in an orderly manner. The highlight of the temple is the beautiful architecture and the combination of modern art. Important religious places within the temple include the large chapel, the pagoda, the reception house of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, the Dharma Saran Uthit and Niramit Samakkhi kuti, the sermon hall, the Chinese temple enshrining the Buddha Udom, the Avalokiteshvara, and the Sangkachai, indicating that this temple may have been sponsored by the Chinese who came to trade along the eastern seaboard (Chinese traders immigrated by boat to Trat since the Ayutthaya period. Some immigrated from Ayutthaya, Bangkok, Vietnam, and some from Malaysia and Singapore). In addition, there are also interesting things to see within the temple, such as the small Thai-style kuti. Built in accordance with the Buddhist precepts, it is large enough for only one monk to stay. #Must try #100 ways to travel #Beautiful places to take pictures #Rainy season attractions #Thai temples #Old temples #Where to go today #Trat #Wat Khiriwihan Trat #Chedi #Natural attractions #Trat is worth visiting #Travel to Trat #TAT Trat #trip #thailandtravel #thailandtrip #thaiculture #temple #pagodaview #buddha #buddhist #culture #Worship and ask for blessings #Buddhist heritage #Buddhism
