Exploring the Wonders of Indonesia
Indonesia, you’ve left me speechless! 🌏✨ Just returned from an incredible 10-day adventure, and I’m still dreaming about the vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality. Here’s a snapshot of my unforgettable journey:
My trip began in Bali, where I stayed in Ubud, surrounded by lush rice terraces and serene vibes. I spent my days exploring the Sacred Monkey Forest, wandering through art markets, and indulging in local dishes like Babi Guling and Nasi Goreng. One highlight was the sunrise hike at Mount Batur – the view from the summit as the sun peeked over the clouds was absolutely magical.
Next, I hopped over to Nusa Penida, a paradise of rugged cliffs and turquoise waters. Kelingking Beach took my breath away – it’s no wonder it’s called the “T-Rex Beach”! Snorkeling at Crystal Bay and Manta Point was surreal, swimming alongside manta rays and vibrant coral reefs.
From there, I flew to Labuan Bajo to visit Komodo Island. Seeing the Komodo dragons in their natural habitat was both thrilling and humbling. The pink sand beaches and crystal-clear waters made it feel like a dream.
My cultural immersion continued in Yogyakarta, where I marveled at the ancient temples of Borobudur and Prambanan. Watching the sunrise over Borobudur, with mist rising over the surrounding mountains, was a spiritual experience I’ll never forget.
Finally, I ended my trip in the Gili Islands, where time seemed to stand still. Cycling around Gili Trawangan, snorkeling with sea turtles, and lounging on white sandy beaches was the perfect way to unwind. The sunsets here are unlike anything I’ve ever seen – pure magic.
Indonesia, you’ve captured my heart with your beauty and diversity. From the bustling streets of Bali to the serene beaches of the Gilis, every moment was a treasure. Can’t wait to return!

Ratu Boko Castle: Sunset with a View
#getgoing2025
Ratu Boko Castle was a place where history and nature collided beautifully. The ancient ruins, perched on a hill, offered sweeping views of the surrounding landscapes. As the sun set, the golden light bathed the site, creating a magical atmosphere. Exploring the castle’s stone pathways and imagining its storied past was a highlight of my journey in Yogyakarta.

high quality food
It was amazing. The ingredients are so fresh and the combinations of flavours were so wonderful. We got the roasted pumpkin scrambled eggs, which were incredibly good. We got it both days.
We also had the Complicated Avocado which was great, the grilled salmon & dill Salad which was amazing - the salmon was perfectly cooked and the Tomato Herbs cheese salad which is essentially a caprese salad but elevated.

brilliant
Wonderful breakfast / brunch spot. Taste of all food items was on point and very flavourful. Not really a fruits person, but hey! Even the açai bowl was wonderful. Of course you got to save space for the nice coffee too.
This is at the same standard as Wild Honey but at a fraction of the price. The ambience is nice and the owner is an interesting person. I think the quality of ingredients is superior too. There is a sense of fresh in everything you eat here. Highly recommended

Work cafe
While the main purpose was to find a comfortable work cafe. I ended up liking their food a lot and so repeated them. I really liked this place. Felt very welcome. Staff is friendly and service was also very good and fast. They come and fill up your water regularly.
Laptop friendly. I came early and say downstairs. There’s a big table in the back, and apparently also seating upstairs. Would come back to work. It's got a nice ambience too.

Best place to eat
This place has great concept of design and healthy food choices combined with wonderful coffee and juices. We love the cured salmon open faced sandwich and Omega 3 menu. Their Shashuka was also a recommended menu.
Açaí bowl here tasted a bit sweet because of the granola toppings which were coated with coconut sugar. But to enjoy once in a while is super. They serve great fresh coffee with plant based milk too. Staff are awesome and kids friendly. You can’t ask for more.

great food
This was a bit of a surprise. I mean such high quality food. The menu proved to be a culinary adventure, offering a diverse range of delectable dishes that catered to every palate.
Our taste buds were treated to a burst of flavors as we savored the Chicken and Cheese Sandwich, a harmonious blend of tender chicken and melted cheese, and the Buttermilk Chicken Fried Sandwich, which provided a delightful crispy crunch.

excellent
The coffee is very good. We tried the kombucha too. Thumbs up for the chic n cheese club sandwiches! It’s so good at 60k Indonesian. In general, the portion is quite big. My favorite dish is Salmon Open Face Toast.
The combination between Egg Benedict and Salmon with extra homemade hot sauce are perfect. The most impressive thing for this place is the service. They all are having well trained even they may only speak English but I feel their service-mind for every language you speak.

Speciality coffee options
Amazing place, hidden in yogyakarta. It turned out to be one the best coffee experiences in south east Asia. The owner is very knowledgeable about coffee and passionately does his work. I was impressed when they asked me to choose the origin and type of the beans for my coffee and then when the breakfast was served I was thrilled.
The egg was perfect and very well presented. The staff is extremely friendly and kind. The pricing is affordable as well, making this a fantastic option. Highly recommend this place.

excellent coffee
A wide selection of coffee roasts and even interested in educating the guests about different types of coffee. I like their food and dessert menus. It’s tasty and the price is reasonable. Their coffees are great.
The service staff came right away and were friendly and helpful. You can get brunch here all day! Loved the toast with cheese and pepperoni - roasted tomatoes were full of flavor. The atmosphere is a chill outdoor space or a cushy wood-decorated interior.

Good food
Really great coffee and food. It's surprising to have such a fine cafe located in yogyakarta. More often even the nice cafes do dishes and coffee Indonesian style. But here both coffee and food felt a bit more authentic.
I would say the best western food and coffee in town. Also, the setting itself is cosy, intimate and perfect for a prolonged chat with a friend or two. The staff are super nice as well. This place is pretty popular so you would be lucky to find seats during peak hours.

Interesting
The decor is rustic with quaint decor and music in the 90’s. There are nice window seatings that offer good sunlight in the morning for photos. There is also outdoor seating but I personally find it too close to the road despite a fenced separation.
The overall atmosphere and vibe is relaxing.Menus are a tad overwhelming with options, listing and illustrations. Might take you a while to think what you want to order if it’s your first time but so far it’s all been pleasant.

speciality coffee
This place has surprisingly very good quality of coffee. They have washed, natural, and pulp processed beans giving you a nice variety to choose from. I wasn't expecting such a place in yogyakarta.
The coffee here is very high level smooth delicious and done to perfection. The baristas here are very talented. I ordered four total lattes trying the different regions they had available all were exceptional. Each coffee comes with a description card so you know what to expect.
#indonesiatrip #yogyakarta #thingstodo
good food
Cosy and good service here! A lot of Brunch menu and drinks here. There are 2 areas in the cafe which are indoor (with aircon) and outdoor. They're featuring varieties from around the world including Ethiopian, Guatemala, and Brazil. They had some in-country beans from the north available also.
The staff are always helpful and service-minded. The food’s waiting time is quite long (approx 40 mins for food) due to the crowded during 12PM. The prices are above average to high. You can park along the street.
#indonesiatrip #yogyakarta #localfood
wonderful cafe
This was one of my fave brunch places in jogja. They offer great specialties of coffee and many choices of brunch meals to die for. It’s a bit far from the city center and it’s quite tricky to find a parking spot but the calm breeze in the café really pay it off.
It’s a perfect place to spend a few hours in the morning to afternoon. The prices are surprisingly affordable..While it seems like a cafe catering to tourist only. But plenty of local people too hangout. I think that is a good sign.

Prambanan Temple: A Symphony of Stone
#chillandthrill
Visiting Prambanan Temple was like stepping into an ancient storybook. This massive Hindu temple complex is a masterpiece of intricate carvings and towering spires. I spent hours wandering around, admiring the detailed depictions of gods and epic tales from the Ramayana. The sunset here is pure magic—the way the light hits the stone makes it glow in this warm, golden hue. It’s one of those places that leaves you in awe of the skill and devotion that went into creating it.

Tamansari Water Castle: A Royal Retreat
#getgoing2025
Exploring Tamansari Water Castle felt like stepping into a royal dream. The pools, once used by sultans and their families, shimmered under the sunlight, surrounded by intricate architecture. Wandering through the underground tunnels and hidden chambers, I felt the echoes of history all around me. It was a peaceful oasis in the heart of the bustling city.

ArtJog: Where Creativity Knows No Bounds
#getgoing2025
ArtJog was an explosion of creativity and expression. The annual exhibition showcased contemporary works from local and international artists, each piece sparking thought and conversation. Interactive installations, vibrant paintings, and thought-provoking sculptures filled the space. It wasn’t just an art exhibition—it was a celebration of imagination and Yogyakarta’s thriving artistic spirit.

Borobudur: The Ancient Wonder
#Borobudur is a must-see, but get ready for an adventure! This place is massive, so brace yourself for lots of walking and climbing. Since you’re a foreign tourist, you’ll need to get a special tour ticket, which will come with a cool little package (straw flip-flops included). They’re comfy, but you might still want to wear comfortable shoes for all the steps you’ll be taking around the park.
Here’s a tip: Borobudur gets hot. It’s better to go early to avoid the midday heat, but if you’re going later, load up on sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water.
The climb up to the top is worth it, but those steps are quite something indeed —be prepared for a mini workout! And keep an eye out for the local photographers who’ll try to sell you photos. If you’re not interested, just smile and say “no” politely, or they’ll keep after you with endless offers.
When you’re ready to leave, getting out can feel like a maze. There are loads of souvenir stalls on the way to the exit, and it’s super easy to lose track of where you’re going. Stick with your group or follow the signs closely, or you might find yourself accidentally looping back!
Borobudur is a blast, though, and the views and history make every step worth it. So, get your camera ready, enjoy the ancient vibes, and have fun exploring one of Indonesia’s wonders! #borobudurtemple #travel #yogyakarta #100waysoftravel

Came to this epic attraction
It's hard to describe the shock in words.
Probably amazing
There are a lot of people, but everyone is very quiet
It seemed that everyone was shocked and whispered.
I think this is the charm of historical sites.
-
Fortunately, we can reach the summit this year.
It would be such a pity if I couldn't go up.
Seeing it from below is completely different from seeing it from inside
Although it was hard to walk in the sandals they prescribed
I'm so afraid of kicking stones 😂
-
I'm glad I made it here.
The setbacks during the journey made me want to give up
Now I want to thank myself for my persistence and perseverance
It’s great to be here 😊

A must-visit Royal Palace in Yogyakarta
THE ROYAL PALACE OF YOGYAKARTA — or the Keraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat in Javanese — is a grand complex that serves as the royal residence of the Sultan of Yogyakarta, the governor of the Yogyakarta Special Region in Indonesia. This royal complex is not only a residence but also a center of Javanese culture and tradition.
Thrilled to explore this historic place here in Yogyakarta. 🇮🇩❤️ #indonesia #yogyakarta
A sweet place with sweet everything
Not only the food is sweet in Yogyakarta but the people too and everything about it. One of my favourite cultural parts of Indonesia. Yogyakarta or Jogja as it is called by locals is a blend of so many things.
You have the 2 most important ancient temple complexes here, the vibe and evenings at malioboro street is amazing. The food, albeit a little sweet still makes for a fun experience. So many warungs located all across the town with a young crowd. The charcoal coffee too is not to be missed!#indoensa #historicallandmarks #yogyakarta #familytrip #localguides #instatravel
Lesser known but worth the stop!
Candi Mendut is one of the oldest Buddhist temple in outskirts of Yogyakarta. Overshadowed by the bigger Candi Borobudur, Mendut is a place that you’ll pass by along the way and I would strongly recommend for a stop here and immense yourself in the serenity of the surrounding area. Take a shade under the magnificent tree right next to Candi Mendut and enjoy the view of the temple.#travel #yogyakarta #indonesia
FANCY. THAT'S THE IMPRESSION WHEN YOU FIRST ENTER
FANCY. That's the impression when you first enter. It's really luxurious, like not a local coffee shop. It's pretty cool, like a bistro concept. But you know, when I was in Klaten and tried to buy drinks and pastries there, I didn't realize if there were any food menus, hahaha.
Two floors, seating area wherever you like, plenty of them! There are like a million sockets. The Wi-Fi is pretty fast, although yesterday it was occasionally acting up.
My favorite spot is actually upstairs, but because it's often used for TikTok shooting, it's noisy, so I prefer downstairs, it's quieter. #yogyakarta #yogyakartahits #yogyakartacity #yogyakartaexplore #kopi #kopihitam #foodphotography #localguides
ALREADY FULL BUT INVITED TO EAT YAMMIE KETANDAN
Already full but invited to eat Yammie Ketandan? Of course, I wouldn't refuse.. Oh, just in time, when I entered and ordered, the stock ran out immediately. Truly, it's the blessings of a righteous child.
I'm so happy to eat here, the vintage details of the items are just amazing, even down to the music they play. I really like it. Besides that, the Yammie is obviously delicious.
Ordered the super complicated one and upgraded to jumbo size, oh my, it's really huge.. sweet soy sauce, salty soy sauce, spicy sambal, delicious! Had it with ice fermented cassava, oh, perfect. It only cost 57k for 2 portions, wow.#yogyakarta #yogyakartahits #yogyakartacity #yogyakartaexplore #goodfoods #foodphotography #localguides
Prambanan, most beautiful hindu temple in the world, and Borobudur, the biggest buddhist monument.
From Yogyakarta in Central Java we went to both Prambanan and Borobodur in one day.
Prambanan is the biggest hindu temple in the island of java and is often dubbed as the most beautiful Hindu temple in the world. The temple consists of three main temples, one for each of the Hindu gods, Brahma, Wisnu, and Shiva.
Around the complex there is also opportunity for various activities such as tandem biking, mini atvs, archery and animal garden.
Borobudur is the biggest single Buddhist monument in the world, and arguably the biggest tourist attraction in all of Central Java. It is made up of 10 levels and takes form of a giant mandala. It is still a very important place of Buddhist worship, and is visited by Buddhist pilgrim monks from all over the world once a year.

Yogyakarta Airport Kulonprogo
#weekendgetaways in #indonesia , #yogyakarta ! I went on Sunday and it was an impromptu trip to the newest Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) located at Kulonprogo. It's my first time in this city and I have to do some research on it. This place is super far from city, so we have to take express train towards city.
Welcomed by many artistic things and decoration, I can feel this city rich tradition. From its andong display, to the signboard which is still in sanskrit that bring me back towards historical story of old kingdom.
The airport is connected with train station which we can just walk around it. Ticket cost Rp 20,000 or Rp 50,000; the difference is just about 1 stop, cheaper price will stop at Wates station for a while while the expensive one will go directly towards city.
Do note that you have to book faster before its out of stock! Otherwise, travel by taxi will be longer and way more expensive!
Grand Mercure Yogyakarta
#hotelreview for one of strategic 5 star hotel in Yogyakarta. Planning to go around city? This is the best accommodation choice, provided if you have the budget. It's near Tugu, Malioboro, Yogyakarta station (walking distance). Also, quite near from Adi Sucipto airport.
I was lucky to get an upgrade from Ibis hotel to this hotel due to maintenance. They are just side by side. The facilities are kind of outdated, like blurry television screen and shower head malfunction. Other than that, it was great! Bed is very comfie.
As accor Silver member, you will receive welcome drink and snacks at their 8th floor restaurant.I feel pampered by the server called Rara.
