Galway felt like a living poem—colorful, chaotic in the best way, and deeply soulful. This bohemian heart of Ireland’s west coast pulled me in with its infectious energy, street music, and unfiltered charm.
I started in Eyre Square, the bustling gateway to Galway’s old town. From there, I wandered through the Latin Quarter, where medieval lanes are flanked by vibrant shopfronts, traditional pubs, and cafés brimming with chatter. Every corner sang a melody—literally. Live music poured from open doors and echoed down cobblestone streets. It was impossible not to stop and sway.
One afternoon, I followed the Salthill Promenade all the way to the edge of Galway Bay. The ocean breeze was brisk, the views magnificent, and I did as the locals do—kicked the wall at the end for luck. It’s tradition.
Galway Cathedral, with its striking mix of Renaissance and Romanesque styles, gave me a moment of serenity amid the bustle. Later, I stepped into Tig Coili, a pub famed for traditional music sessions. The room pulsed with fiddles, laughter, and storytelling—it felt timeless.
A highlight? A day trip to Connemara. Wild mountains, mirrored lakes, and stone walls stretching to the horizon—it was raw, breathtaking, and unforgettable.
