Located on the outskirts of Tainan City, the Ten Drum Cultural Village was once a sugar factory that was left desolate after World War II. It was rebuilt and renovated by the local drumming troupe called Ten Drum Art Percussion Group in 2005, becoming a creative park that comprises both art and entertainment. The park is about 7 hectares, with 22 old warehouses built during the Japanese colonial period. It is the first drum-themed international art village in Asia! If you travel to Tainan and visit this creative park, you must not miss out on the Ten Drums’ performance. The drum techniques combined with the unique Taiwanese drum and flute music are remarkable! The performance I watched was performed by 8 young members. I admired how strong the muscles of their arms and body were, enabling them to beat the drums rapidly and steadily. With their good teamwork, the troupe skilfully imitated the sound of winds, waves, thunderstorms, mountains, horses, and the phoenix! A gentle reminder for you is that there are only two shows every day so grab the time to watch it! Hope you enjoy it as I did! P.S.
