Melaka was fun!
We took a coach from JB to Melaka and stayed 2 nights. Melaka has so much to offer, nice food, lots of walking and places of interest and we enjoyed ourselves so much. The people are very warm and helpful.
Going around with grab was cheap and convenient, no worries about traffic jam and parking! Leave your car behind!!

We would love to take a short to Melaka more often☺️😀
A Famosa Review: Melaka’s Iconic Fort – Worth the Hype?
#malaccatrip
If you’ve ever seen a postcard of Melaka, chances are it featured **A Famosa**—the crumbling yet iconic 16th-century Portuguese fortress. But is it just a quick photo stop, or does it hold deeper historical value? Here’s my honest review after visiting.
## **First Impressions: A Glimpse into Colonial Melaka**
Standing at the foot of **St. Paul’s Hill**, A Famosa’s surviving **Porta de Santiago gate** is all that remains of what was once a mighty fortress. It’s smaller than I expected, but the weathered stone walls and colonial inscriptions give it a solemn, time-worn charm.
📍 **Location**: 5/5
Right in the heart of Melaka’s UNESCO zone, it’s surrounded by key attractions like the **Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum** and **St. Paul’s Church**. Super easy to include in a heritage walk.
## **The Experience: Quick but Meaningful**
### **👍 The Good:**
✔ **Historical Significance** – Built in **1511** by the Portuguese, later taken over by the Dutch, and then the British, this fort witnessed centuries of colonial power struggles.
✔ **Great Photo Spot** – The arched gate with its vintage inscriptions is Instagram-worthy, especially during golden hour.
✔ **Free to Visit** – No entrance fee! Just walk up and explore.
### **👎 The Not-So-Good:**
❌ **Very Small** – Only a single gate survives (the rest was destroyed by the British). If you’re expecting a full fort, you might be disappointed.
❌ **Crowded** – Tour buses stop here frequently, so it can get packed, especially midday.
❌ **Minimal Information** – A few plaques explain its history, but you might want to Google or hire a guide for deeper context.
## **Who Will Enjoy A Famosa?**
✅ **History buffs** – Standing where colonial empires once clashed is pretty surreal.
✅ **Photography lovers** – The ruins have a rustic, dramatic appeal.
✅ **Quick-stop tourists** – Easy to see in 10-15 minutes while exploring the area.
❌ **Those expecting a grand fort** – Only a fragment remains, so manage expectations.
## **Final Verdict: Should You Visit?**
**Rating: 3.5/5** – It’s a **must-see for first-timers** due to its historical importance, but don’t expect a full fort experience. Pair it with **St. Paul’s Church** (just uphill) for a deeper dive into Melaka’s past.
### **Pro Tips:**
- **Visit early morning or late afternoon** to avoid crowds and harsh sunlight.
- **Read up beforehand** – Knowing its backstory (Portuguese/Dutch/British conflicts) makes it more interesting.
- **Combine with nearby attractions** – The **Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum** and **Christ Church** are within walking distance.

Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum Review: Is It Worth Visiting?
#malaccatrip
If you're a history buff or just love exploring cultural gems, the **Melaka Sultanate Palace Museum** should be on your list. But is it worth the visit? Here’s my honest take after exploring it firsthand.
## **First Impressions: A Stunning Wooden Marvel**
The moment you approach the museum, you’re greeted by a **magnificent wooden palace**—a replica of Sultan Mansur Shah’s 15th-century royal abode. The traditional Malay architecture, built without nails, is impressive. The intricate carvings and elevated structure make it a photographer’s dream.
📍 **Location**: 5/5
Right at the foot of **St. Paul’s Hill**, it’s perfectly situated near other key attractions like **A Famosa** and **Christ Church Melaka**. Super convenient for a heritage walk!
## **Inside the Museum: A Mixed Experience**
### **👍 The Good:**
✔ **Rich Historical Exhibits** – The museum does a great job showcasing Melaka’s golden era with dioramas of royal court life, ancient weaponry, and trade history.
✔ **Cool Artifacts** – From traditional Malay **kris daggers** to royal attire, there’s plenty to geek out over if you love history.
✔ **Affordable Entry** – At **RM 10 for adults** (RM 5 for kids), it’s a budget-friendly attraction.
### **👎 The Not-So-Good:**
❌ **Some Displays Feel Dated** – While informative, a few exhibits could use better lighting or interactive elements to make them more engaging.
❌ **No Air Conditioning** – The wooden structure keeps it naturally cool, but on a hot day, it can get a bit stuffy inside.
## **Who Will Enjoy This Museum?**
✅ **History lovers** – If you’re into Malay sultanates and ancient trade empires, you’ll appreciate this.
✅ **Culture & architecture fans** – The palace itself is a masterpiece of traditional craftsmanship.
❌ **Those seeking high-tech exhibits** – If you prefer flashy, interactive museums (like **Muzium Samudera**), this might feel a bit old-school.
## **Final Verdict: Should You Visit?**
**Rating: 4/5** – A must-see for history and culture enthusiasts, but casual tourists might find it a bit niche. Pair it with other nearby attractions for a full Melaka heritage experience.
### **Pro Tips:**
- **Go early** (before 11 AM) to avoid crowds.
- **Combine with St. Paul’s Church**—just a short walk uphill for epic views.
- **Bring water**—it can get warm inside.

Located in **Melaka’s UNESCO heritage zone**, **Cheng Hoon Teng Temple** (青云亭) is Malaysia’s **oldest functioning Chinese temple**, dating back to **1645**. Built by Kapitan Tay Kie Ki, it served as a spiritual hub for the Hokkien community, blending **Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian** traditions.

💞Reasons to Recommend: delicious and cute pastry/desserts, cute vibes cafe
💰Average Price per Person: RM30-40
the daily fix cafe waiting time was 50minutes so we just go and walk to see other cafes nearby and we stumbled upon this cuteeee cafe. the interior is so aesthetic and cozy. love the big window, you can chill sipping coffee while people-watching.
all pastries look tempting i had a hard time to choose but the staff was very friendly and helpful, she recommended their top seller and explained each flavour and fillings.
this is our order:
- panna cota strawberry w crumbs: 10/10 (love the combination of jam with the pudding + crumbles, the pudding texture is great too, very jiggly)
- raspberry croissant: 8/10 (taste good, the raspberry fillings was delicious, croissant is good however it would be better if it’s more flaky)
- mushroom danish(?) i think, this was my mom’s, she devoured 10/10
- rose latte iced and hot: my mom loves it, but i don’t, maybe because im not a fan of flowers. i dont like my coffee to have scent others than coffee beans huhu

Fantastic, Pampering Stay at Liu Men
#malaccatrip means staying at one of the Trip’s Best Cultural Hotel for 2024, Liu Men. You just feel like being transported to the grand old world as you enter the hotel. The Peranakan decor just brings the charm of the amazing heritage with intricate tiles, wooden door, etc. The hotel says you are at a “home away from home.” It certainly is with the attentive and helpful staff with no request being denied. It is also a pampering stay with snacks and drinks stocked in your room. You also get free afternoon tea albeit just a decent one. There is also a beautifully designed tote bag for you to use (though you cannot take it home for free). Also, remember to ask for the Ala carte menu if you have breakfast. Overall, Liu Men is a solid hotel with a wonderful tribute to the Peranakan heritage. #liumen #weekend #melaka

Malaysia travel plan KL-MELAKA-JOHORBHARU
#Share travel plan
Share a travel plan for Malaysia KL-MELAKA-JOHORBHARU If anyone gets on a plane and lands at KL airport, you can rent a car from the airport and travel here. We will start from Johorbharu to Malacca and KL.
Day 1: Legoland Johor Bharu Drive from KL for 4 hours. Legoland here is divided into 3 parts: rides, amusement park, aquarium and water park. I must say that the aquarium is not worth the price. But the other parts are okay. The only downside is that the weather is a bit hot. After entering Legoland, drive to Malacca because Malacca hotels are cheaper. The food is also cheaper.
Day 2: Visit Malacca city at Dutch Square. Next to Dutch is Musium Samudera. The downside is that the weather is hot all year round. After taking pictures, go to sleep at a hotel in L.
Day 3: Leave the hotel and go to Genting Amusement Park, both indoor and outdoor. The weather is good. The rides are fun. I am impressed. After playing, we went back to the hotel to rest again.
Day 4: Merdeka, we traveled in KL city, we went to the KLCC Twin Towers, nearby there is Saloma Bridge where people come to take pictures, we went to Merdeka near the walking street, there is quite a lot of traffic in the city and it is hard to find parking, we had to park in the mall and walk around to take pictures at the places we marked. After that, we went home, ending our Malaysia trip in a hurry. #kualalumpur #johorbahru #melaka
