Petra’s dramatic entrance
The walk from the visitor centre to Petra’s most iconic monument, the treasury is an adventure all by itself. As you walk through this 1.2 km long cavern known as the Siq you can witness the towering rock formations above you as the narrow passageway winds downhill. The rocks themselves almost look different colours throughout the day, dependent on how the light shines on them.
At the end of the Siq you will gain your first glimpse of the spectacular 40m high treasury that made this place so famous. #aprilblooms #petra #rocks
The Funny Rocks of Ling Kok Shan
I took a nice walk in Lamma Island on a sunny winter day. The walk took about three hours and it offered wonderful ocean and island views on a high point in Sok Kwu Wan, the southern section of Lamma Island.
I began the trail at the Tin Hau Temple in Sok Kwu Wan and looped back to the pier area via a rather wild and unkempt path. I took this loop because the standard paved trail will route via the Mo Tat Wan before arriving at the Sok Kwu Wan Pier. That will result in a significantly longer duration, and I was pushed for time that day.
The hike up the mountains was done on a nice-paved trail throughout. At a 250 meter altitude, Ling Kok Shan is known for its many oddly-shaped, large boulders. About half hour or 45 minutes into the ascent, you will start seeing these boulders all over the Ling Kok Shan Area. The rocky terrain is quite interesting. My hiking app says that there are Japanese tunnels as well, but I did not manage to find any opening of those tunnels there.

Helen Yu (Chestnut Journal) Exploring the Black Rocks and crystal clear water of Lake Superior
Black Rocks, Presque Isle Park, Marquette, MI, USA
Nestled along a 323 acre forested peninsula which extends into the water of Lake Superior, the Black Rocks offer absolutely beautiful views of the water. The Black Rocks are estimated to be 1.7 billion years old and are formed along the shores of Lake Superior on the Isle. They are primarily composed of a type of igneous rock called basalt. Basalt forms from the rapid cooling of lava flows, which occurred during volcanic activity millions of years ago in the region. The contrast of the dark basalt against the blue waters of Lake Superior creates a picturesque landscape. Enjoy hiking along the rocks and watching people jump off the edges of some of the bigger cliffs into the cold water. It's definitely a popular spot for the locals to cool down. There's also a cove spot kind of like a little beach area where you can walk down to get in the water as well. It was so serene and such a lovely area. A must see while in Marquette, you won't be disappointed.

Swimming With Waves In The Caves 🌊
Keri Caves is one of the most beautiful places to visit! Crystal clear waters, clear enough to see the colourful fish beneath you. Perfect place to do snorkelling or scuba diving, I had an amazing time trying to spot all the different types fish. 🐠
Breathtaking views over the beautiful blue sea and stunning sunsets make this a wonderful experience that will stay with you. I 100% would like to visit the keri caves again it was honestly breathtaking. 🌅
In order to visit the caves you have to go by boat but there are plenty of organised trips from nearby towns. You are also allowed to rent a boat without a licence. Some of the caves are big enough to allow a boat to enter. In others you can swim from the entrance to the inside. 🚤
If you are visiting Zakynthos I would highly recommend spending your day/evening visiting here. One of my favourite memories by far!

Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks
My girlfriend and I recently visited the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks in Koh Samui, and we had a great time. The rocks are located on the east coast of the island, and they are known for their unusual shapes, which resemble male and female which is why the Thai call them the grandfather and grandmother rocks (cause of course rocks are super old and has always been there!)
I was a little hesitant to visit the rocks at first, but I'm glad I did. They are actually quite beautiful, and they are a popular tourist destination. There is a small shrine located near the rocks, and there are also a few souvenir shops selling trinkets and souvenirs which I highly recommend looking at! Please, you must especially try the local desert/snack there called Kalamea! You won’t be able to find it again and I promise you will love it.
I would recommend visiting the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks if you are in Koh Samui. They are a unique and interesting sight, and they are sure to make you laugh.
Here are some tips for your visit:
Be respectful of the rocks and the shrine.
Bring water and sunscreen (there is no shade)
Wear proper shoes to walk on the rocks
I hope this helps and I hope you have a great time visiting the Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks if you ever get the chance!

The Queen’s Head in Taiwan
These rock formations by the sea is a must visit when you come to Taiwain. I have booked a one full day trip via KLOOK APP and one of the must seen sites in Taiwan is included in this trip. You get a tour guide and a small group in a private van. Not the extremely crowded type.
There are pretty stop overs along the way that will allow you to take photos and enjoy the scenery!

Should you visit Ao Nang, Krabi Thailand?🇹🇭
Ao Nang, Krabi📍
5 Nights in Krabi! Krabi was one of the places in Thailand that I was excited for, but it didn’t really meet our expectations. Similar to Koh Samui, Ao Nang felt totally full of tourists and completely dedicated to tourists.
One of my biggest hates is when people try and beckon you into their restaurant or shop😂and you just could not walk anywhere without someone shouting ‘tuk tuk’ or ‘hungry?? Please have lunch at our restaurant?!?’ - totally not what I’m seeking when travelling.
Nevertheless, we did some really good shopping in Ao Nang & a nice trip to Railay Beach.
I think it’s just made us realise that we aren’t into places that are extremely popular with tourists, especially when we aren’t much into partying or drinking🤷🏻♀️

A TRIP AROUND THE PHI PHI ISLANDS, MAYA BAY!
Koh Phi Phi📍
We day-tripped from Koh Lanta to the Phi Phi Islands to explore the top tourist spots.
Maya Bay was our first stop & we had heard lots of negativity about it not meeting expectations. So our expectations were pretty low. Yes, there were crowds upon crowds of tourists. And yes, the toilets made me heave multiple times. However, the beach truly is beautiful. And the sand is so white and so so soft.
Next, we went to Viking Bay - I found it interesting that this is where they harvest bird nests to make traditional Chinese soup?! How random.
We snorkelled nearby & I’ve never snorkelled before. For my first experience, it surely was a frightening one😂 Firstly, I couldn’t get my snorkel to work. Constant mouthfuls of water & waves hitting me in the face. Finally, when I could breath & actually see what was beneath me, I instantly regretted it. Two Blacktip Reef Sharks in the water below. I have Ellie telling me that there were trigger fish in the water (not nice fish) & also saying that there was a barracuda (it was not, in fact, a barracuda). So, the entire time, I was freaking out :) After the second shark sighting, it was a fast swim back to the
boat.
We then headed to the main part of Phi Phi, Phi Phi Don, to have some lunch and look around shops- there was a lovely Burger King & McDonald’s facing eachother👯♀️
Finally, we went to Bamboo Island where we swam in the crystal clear water & had the absolute best time. I think Bamboo Island has the best water we’ve ever swam in.
Overall, we had such a fun day exploring Phi Phi & we are so glad that we just did a day trip, instead of staying on the super party island!

Lamma island
I can't tell that it's worth seeing but if you have already visited the most famous sightseeing in Hong Kong and wanna be distracted from crowded places for a bit , you can take a ferry at the Pier 4 from the Central station to Lamma island .
it will take you 40 minutes to go there .
the island is a little bit dirty itself , especially the beach 😞 but the view is still picturesque .
the only problem you might face is a queue on the way back , we didn't expect that , because during our walk on this island we met just few people , where they were hiding we have no idea 😂 , probably they were saying in the seafood restaurants next to the piers 🤭

Overlooking Canyonlands National Park
Taken from Dead horse point overlook which is the state park of Utah in untied states, Moab.
There are several hiking trails here, the hike to dead horse point is a total of 16km if you take all the spurs but 8km if you take none. The overlook are gorgeous and breathtaking but do be very cautious as these overlooks are not fenced up. At times it might be slippery due to rain. There are several overlooks here that you can explore before you reach dead horse point outlook are:
- Big Horn Overlook
- Rim Overlook
- Shafer Canyon Overlook
- Meander Overlook
There are also several arches in the state park, the popular one would be the Mesa Arch in the pictures attached and another would be the delicate arch which will be in another post.
But if you are lazy, you can just drive all the way up to dead horse point overlook, park there and head to the little outlooks around the carparks. The drive though, can take from 30mins to a few hours depending on your interest and stop points. So make sure you plan your trip there.
There will be an entrance fee of $10USD for each vehicle entering the park.

One of nature's wonders!
Bay of Fires is a tourist hotspot, and I could totally see why the moment I got there! It was an hour's drive into the Conversation Area but oh so worth it. The view was expansive and so beautiful!
The rocks were unevenly coated with bright orange lichen and waters were crystal clear that I could see the sand underneath and little fishes in the water. I spotted some crabs in between the rocks too.
The carpark is quite small, only good for approx. 10 cars so be sure to get there early especially during the holiday season. Another tip is to check the weather forecast before heading down. I went on a rainy day but thankfully the rain stopped and the skies cleared up after a while.

Lava Tunnel: Unique Experience in Iceland
Going for Raufarhólshellir Lava Tunnel Tour was definitely one of the highlights of my Iceland trip! It’s just a short drive’s away from downtown reykjavik. If you don’t have a car, there are bus transfers to and from city! We embarked on this short 1hr experience in the morning and returned back by noon. It’s definitely one of the unique things you can do in Iceland, after spending much time looking at waterfalls and lava fields! Why not explore an actual lava cave itself? Low difficulty experience and you don’t need to have good fitness. it’s an experience for all ages! Highly recommend #LavaTunnel #lava #science #nature #rocks #cave
The Real Fairy Tale Setting
This is one place which will make you believe that nature works in its own unique ways.
Fairy Chimneys like the name says look really like being from a fairy tale.Carved by lava, wind, rain etc over hundreds of thousands of years, wonderful hiking in the area.
Located in central Turkey is known for its distinctive " fairy chimneys," tall, cone-shaped rock formations clustered in Göreme and near by valleys. This by far has been one of my favorite places to visit, with a moon like landscape, underground cities, cave churches daiting back to the Byzantine era, and houses carved in the rocks! This region took my breath away...
These mountains and terrain is a must visit and second to none.
