Mount Akagi Saifukuji Temple has a history of about 500 years. It is also called "Echigo Nikko Kaisan-do" because its sculptures are as wonderful as those of Nikko Toshogu Shrine. There are wonderful sculptures and paintings of Uncho throughout the hall, and all of them are must-see works, but the highlight is the large sculpture that covers the entire ceiling of the hall on all four sides! 😳 The delicate openwork and vivid colors were truly amazing 👏✨. Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. Uonuma Kuratomo Farm's onigiri shop. I had some delicious onigiri in Minamiuonuma, a famous rice producing area. Among the varieties from Uonuma, Shiozawa Koshihikari is considered to be particularly delicious, and they also sell rice in the store. There were many varieties, but this time I had sujiko and mentaiko. The rice was very shiny and plump when I ate it, and I realized that it was really delicious rice. The ingredients were not just on top, but were firmly inside, so you could enjoy the taste of the ingredients until the very end. I was also impressed that it was delicious even when it cooled down. You can feel the attention to detail in everything from how it was cooked to how it was rolled, and it was an onigiri that I would be willing to wait in line to eat. I heard that there were many customers from outside the prefecture lining up, but when I came to the store at 10am on a weekday, I was able to purchase it without waiting.
