Cefalù: An Orange Mint Candy in Southern Italian Summer 🍊🌿
#summervacay
The beaches of Cefalù have the hottest sand I've ever stepped on. 🔥 Walking barefoot, the fluffy sand quickly sinks beneath your feet, your soles enveloped by the scorching summer heat.
Then, you step further into the waves, and it's an exhilarating rush, like drinking an icy soda. 🌊 The waves here are the most vibrant I've ever seen, one after another, lifting up surfers who are leaping and riding them. 🏄♀️
Sitting by the sea, sipping a beer and just daydreaming, I finally felt like I was experiencing an Italian summer the right way. 🍻 What a perfect blend of warmth and refreshing bliss!

Head West in Sicily to San Vito: A Dive into Azure Beauty! 💙🐠
#summervacay
If you journey west from Palermo, you'll reach San Vito Lo Capo – it's like stepping into a different world of blue!
This is a true hidden gem of a town on Sicily's western side. It doesn't have the same "dilapidated charm" as Palermo (though that charm has its own beauty!). It's about an 80-minute drive from Palermo and is primarily a holiday destination for local Sicilians – we only saw a few Americans hiking along the way!
Here's what makes this town special:
Charming Town:
Blue Windows & Flowers: The town is adorned with lovely blue-framed windows and an abundance of vibrant flowers.
White Houses & Cacti: With its white houses and cacti, it feels reminiscent of a Greek or Moroccan island, beautifully decorated and picturesque.
Jellyfish-Clear Sea: The water here is incredibly clear, like jelly, perfect for swimming and admiring.
Zingaro Nature Reserve: This stunning protected area offers the perfect combination of hiking and swimming. You can trek along the trails with breathtaking views.
Cliffs & Jellyfish Sea: One side features dramatic cliffs, while the other boasts that incredible, clear "jellyfish" sea.
Multiple Beaches: There are four beaches along the route, so you can switch between hiking and swimming based on your energy and mood!
Recommended Stays & Eats:
Baglio La Porta by Geocharme: This place is absolutely incredible!
Infinity Pool: The infinity pool, restaurant, and outdoor views are simply to die for!
Breakfast Quality: The breakfast is top-notch.
Resort-like Units: The rooms feel like individual resort units, offering privacy and comfort.
Crik & Crok:
Exquisite Seafood Restaurant: A refined seafood restaurant that local colleagues recommended.
Amazing Dish: There's a fresh pan-fried fish dish with pink peppercorns that is absolutely to die for!

Palermo's Street Art: Raw and Moving! 🎨✨
#summervacay
It's both a surprise and not a surprise – generally, Europe's beautifully dilapidated old-school romantic cities tend to have some fantastic street art. Palermo is no exception!
The main street art in Palermo is concentrated in two areas, both with a high density, meaning you'll find amazing pieces just a few steps away:
Ballarò Neighborhood: Walk through or near the market, and you'll find plenty of art within about 10 minutes.
Via Carrettieri and Vicolo Marmorai Intersection Area: This spot is about a 7-8 minute walk behind the Cathedral.
These locations offer a truly authentic and moving street art experience!

Heart of Baroque splendor
My recent visit to Noto, Sicily, was an unforgettable journey into the #sicily , rich history, and culinary delights. This charming town, renowned for its harmonious architecture and warm, golden hues, offers an experience that captivates the senses.

Wandering through Noto’s historic center felt like stepping into a Baroque masterpiece. The Centro Storico is a symphony of honey-colored stone buildings, each adorned with intricate facades and ornate balconies. The Cathedral of St. Nicolò stands majestically, its grandeur amplified by the soft glow of the setting sun. Climbing to the top of the Campanile di San Carlo bell tower offered panoramic views of the city, revealing a tapestry of terracotta rooftops and distant rolling hills.

Catania may feel unfamiliar, but it is the second largest city in Sicily. It is said to have been built during ancient Greek and Roman mythology, so its history is quite impressive.
Since it is an area where Mount Etna can be seen, you can clearly see Mount Etna when the weather is good!🌋 In particular, the old town of Catania has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because its architectural style is well preserved.✨ Catania is a city that is definitely recommended for Sicily travel! 🇮🇹If you go to Sicily, Italy, never go here for a day trip⚠️
The city I went to for a day trip but regretted because I wanted to travel more was ‘Siracusa’.
Siracusa, which can be reached in about 1 hour and 20 minutes by train from Catania Station, is a place where traces of Greek and Roman mythology remain intact! The entire city is a cultural heritage site, so it is a beautiful, leisurely, and ancient place.

Feel the Mediterranean breeze in Sicily
Sicily is an island located in the south of Italy in the Mediterranean Sea, and Catania is a port city in Sicily. We arrived there on a cruise ship. It was nice to walking around the city. There were many historical buildings with beautiful designs. We could feel the Italian culture and taste the cuisine. People were very laid back and everyone was enjoying the summer weather. The local people were very friendly and they spoke English very well. We would love to come back and spend more time in Sicily to explore more in the future.

Taormina is the gem of Sicily 🇮🇹
#italytrip
Spending a few days in Taormina, Sicily, was an absolute dream! 🏛️ This hilltop town has the perfect mix of ancient history, stunning views, and that laid-back Mediterranean vibe. The highlight of my visit was definitely the ancient Greek Theatre (Teatro Greco). The entrance fee was around €10, and it’s worth every penny to sit in this ancient amphitheater and take in the panoramic views of the sea and Mount Etna in the distance. 🌋 The theater is still used for concerts and plays, making it feel like history is alive here.
After exploring the theater, I wandered down Corso Umberto, Taormina’s main pedestrian street, lined with cute boutiques, gelato shops, and charming cafes. I stopped for a granita (Sicilian slushy) with almond flavor – it was so refreshing in the warm sun! 🍧 The town’s Piazza IX Aprile offers amazing views of the coastline, and it’s the perfect spot to relax and people-watch. 🏖️
In the afternoon, I took the cable car down to Isola Bella, a tiny island connected to the beach by a strip of sand. Swimming in the crystal-clear waters and relaxing on the pebble beach was so refreshing. For a day trip, visiting Mount Etna was a must – the sight of this active volcano is just awe-inspiring. 🌄 Taormina is truly the jewel of Sicily, full of history, natural beauty, and delicious food! #trip #Taormina #Sicily #GreekTheatre #MountEtna #MediterraneanMagic

Best of Sicily
#weekendgetaways
All of Sicily is such an extraordinary holiday destination. And palermo happens to be the cultural , arts and tourism flag bearer. A city in the south of Italy, this place offers holiday goers excellent gastronomy, historical and cultural gems. Infact, sometimes it might even be a good idea to skip Rome and head straight to Palermo for a Sicilian holiday.
If architecture and photography is your thing. You've run into a treasure chest, when in Palermo. It is impossible to count all these rich villas, palaces or churches. Some of them interestingly were mosques in the past. Done with amazing mosaics that are living traces of Arab and Norman domination in the past. The architecture of Palermo perfectly depicts this cultural mix.
The plaermatian markets are also an experience to remember. The fair is the heart and soul of every town in Sicily. If you want to see what the real everyday life of local people looks like and become a part of it, a visit to one of the local bazaars is an absolute must.#weekendgetaways #italy #sicily #palermo
A summer of Cheese, Wine, Beaches and History.
#summerdestinations
Sicily is almost like a country within a country. It has rich history of Greek and Roman origins. Intetesitngly the roots of mafia culture are also traced to Sicily. That makes it even more interesting for me! In terms of holidays, you're on the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. A perfect romantic summer getaway that offers an abundance of things to do for every kind of traveller.
Beaches are an important aspect of a fine summer holiday. And it happens so that one of the best things about this island is indeed its amazing beaches. With more than a thousand kilometers of coastline, there’s no shortage of secluded, exclusive and picturesque pebbly coves and sandy stretches.
A personal favourite is Spiaggia di San Vito Lo Capo which boasts a long strip of soft white sand and some of the kost transparent waters I’ve ever seen!
But there is a lot more to Sicily than just it's beaches. Sicily is home to some incredible picture perfect towns. You could admire the baroque churches of Ragusa Ibla, stroll along the charming waterfront promenades in Ortigia, or relax at the medieval seaside resort Cefalu. I also highly recommend visiting a small fishing village called Marzamemi, one of the many hidden gems in Sicily. With its vibrantly decorated houses, beautiful beachside restaurants, and quaint piazzas, this place just can’t get more idyllic!
Another reason to visit Sicily is its food. The island offers an exciting culinary scene with lots of local specialties such as arancini, cannoli and granita which you simply can’t miss! Also, the pasta dishes in Sicily are just phenomenal. For a unique dinner experience, try spaghetti with squid ink.
If you’re up for some hiking, the very popular climb of Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Its steaming landscape, massive craters, and the views over the surrounding areas are nothing short of incredible! Enough Said! This summer let's head to Sicily!

Stromboli one of the active Volcano
Stromboli is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily, containing Mount Stromboli, one of the four active volcanoes in Italy. It is one of the seven Aeolian Islands, a volcanic arc north of Sicily, and the mythological home of Aeolus.
The island, with an area of 12.6 square kilometres (4.9 sq mi),represents the upper third of the volcano. Its population was about 500 as of 2016. The volcano has erupted many times and is constantly active with minor eruptions, often visible from many points on the island and from the surrounding sea, giving rise to the island's nickname "Lighthouse of the Mediterranean".

Valley of the Temples 🗺️
I recently visited the Valley of the Temples in Sicily, and it was absolutely awe-inspiring! 🏛️ Located in Agrigento, this archaeological site is one of the most impressive in the world. The entrance fee was around 10 euros, which is a great price for exploring such a vast and historic area.
The Valley of the Temples is home to some of the best-preserved ancient Greek temples outside of Greece. Walking among these ancient ruins, I was particularly struck by the Temple of Concordia, which stands majestically against the Sicilian landscape. The Temple of Hera and the Temple of Olympian Zeus were also incredible, each with its own unique charm and history. 🌄
Nearby, the city of Agrigento offers charming streets and local Sicilian cuisine that's a must-try. Don't miss the chance to visit the Agrigento Archaeological Museum, which provides deeper insights into the history and significance of the temples. If you have time, a visit to Scala dei Turchi, a stunning white limestone cliff by the sea, is just a short drive away and offers a perfect spot for some relaxation and stunning views.

The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sicily, is a mesmerizing testament to the grandeur of ancient Greek architecture. My visit to this archaeological wonder left me in awe of the past and the enduring legacy of Greek civilization.
Strolling through the valley, I marveled at the remarkably preserved temples, each with its unique character and history. The Temple of Concordia, with its towering columns, stands as a symbol of classical beauty and perfection.
The setting, overlooking the Sicilian countryside, adds to the enchantment. As the sun sets, the golden hues bathe the temples in a warm glow, creating a magical atmosphere.
The Valley of the Temples is not just a historical site; it's a spiritual and artistic experience. It's a place that makes history come alive, and I left with a profound appreciation for the timeless beauty of ancient Greece. #agrigento #italy #sicily
Favognana island - sicily to live
The island is famous for its caves of calcarenite rock (locally known as "tufo") and the ancient fishing technique of tonnara, with the trapping and mattanza (slaughter) of bluefin tuna. It hosts the historical Tonnara di Favignana.
At most I would stay three to four days, meaning two to three nights. This should be enough time to give you an adequate visit and enough ability to see the attractions of Favignana and make wonderful memories.
is easy to say that beyond being the largest of the islands in this archipelago, this is also the liveliest and probably the most attractive. Don't get me wrong: Marettimo is wilder and beautiful, and you have the Levanzo Islands that are also amazing and beautiful, but Favignana stands out.
You can get around the island is by car, by scooter or foot. But I believe renting a scooter is for sure the best solution.
Therefore bike, both normal and electric, is the main mean of transport on the island. It is also possible to get around by other vehicles, from scooter to car. You can also opt for the tourist train or traditional private mini bus.
The most famous of the swimming spots in Favignana. According to legend, the “rossa” of the name refers to the red blood staining the crystalline waters of the cove during a battle between the Romans and Carthaginians in 241 BC. But it's hard to imagine that this place was ever anything but serene.
