Getting There - Tiger Leaping Gorge is located 100km from Lijiang city. Travel to the gorge is possible by bus or by private car and takes around 2 hours. Regular buses can be taken from Lijiang Transport Service Center Bus Station to Qiaotou town where the ticket office is for the gorge. Attractions - With a depth of over 3000m, the gorge is one of the deepest in the world. The scenery is absolutely spectacular and is one of the best mountain landscapes to see in China. Day trips from Lijiang to the gorge are perfect to experience the gorge and the wild rapids. However, to full experience the gorge hiking the high trail is a must. The hike can be done in a single day but is best enjoyed over 2 - 3 days staying in local guesthouses along the trail. The trail starts in Qiaotou and is easy to spot with the trail head by the local school. When hiking the gorge, most hikers view Tina's Guesthouse as the end of their hike but it isn't.
