History also records that when Master Xuanzang went to the West to seek Buddhist scriptures, he also saw the Ashoka Pillar in Lumbini! The place where Buddha passed away at the age of 80 is located in Kuśi-nagara, India. At that time, eight kings wanted to fight for the relics after the cremation of Buddha. I came to the Monkey Temple for a sightseeing tour with my good friends, and many people may not go to this attraction because they are afraid of monkeys grabbing bags, glasses, or food. Nepal is a country of snow-capped mountains and forests. It is truly one of the most contrasting countries I have ever visited. The chaotic and dirty exterior sharply contrasts with the serene cafes inside. Pokhara city has many uniquely styled cafes. I woke up very early to witness the most spectacular sunrise in the world in Nepal, and I still love Nepal very much. We had to get up around 5 AM to see this sunrise. People from different countries also came to watch the sunrise. I believe that spending around 100 HKD per day in Nepal is quite reasonable. This shows that Nepal is indeed a favorite destination for hikers and backpackers.

This was my first time visiting Nepal and I fell in love with Nepal on my very first day! People are very friendly, they smile at you and trying to help you out! My InDrive driver always chat with me when picking me up. I visited Nepal for 2 weeks and it was one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had. Nepalese are so kind and friendly, most people also speaks English so language barrier is not big issue. The country also has so much good food, especially vegetarian and halal food, so it is suitable for people with different dietary requirements. The weather in Nepal is also much cooler than neighbouring countries as it is surrounded by mountains. The view is always stunning no matter where you are. Here are some of my recommendations for travelling to Kathmandu: Things to do in Thamel: - Visit Asan Bazar (huge bazar selling various items, remember to try the lassi around the area, one of the best I have ever tried) - Visit Darbar Square, UNESCO world heritage, you need to get a ticket to visit, do check out the timing to see the living goddess (Kumari). She will show her face for around 30 seconds few times a day. - Try “TipTop Samosa”, must try the samosa here, cheap, fresh and delicious $0.35USD for each only - Visit Monkey Temple, one of the highest points in Kathleen. In the past 9 days, there has not been a moment when I thought of giving up, silently and slowly moving forward, everyone can also reach the finish line at their own pace. The tour guide left very early and said that the rooms in Gorakshep were full, so he wanted to get to Gorakshep as early as possible to help us book a room. (I don't understand why the room was not booked early🤨) We followed the driver and walked slowly, from Lobuche (5030m) to Gorakshep (5125m), a length of 4.5km. After passing 5000 meters, the state obviously declined further, after getting up has a little headache, not much energy. At first the 1km was just a flat gravel road, but I could only move forward slowly, with a slight complaint about the back driver walking faster than the guide. After the flat road we need to climb over a small hill, stand on the hill and enjoy the beautiful scenery, which makes people instantly forget the hardship of climbing the previous moment. After climbing over the small hills, we reached Gorakshep. Upon arrival we received a bad news 😨....the room was full and we needed to stay in a tent ⛺️ (see picture) tonight....to stay in a tent below minus 10 degrees.... We packed our luggage at Gorakshep and after lunch, the guide reminded us to leave as early as possible as there would be long queues for photos on the height marked stone at base camp. Gorakshep (5125m) is about 3.3km to Base camp (5364m). Since I couldn’t lift my spirits all day, the guide helped me back my backpack so that I could walk a little easier. I had fantasized countless times before leaving or on the way, the reaction/scene after arriving at Base Camp.... As a result, everything was calmer than imagined.. Perhaps it was not calm but cold 🌬️⛄️ All the excitement remained in my heart. Everyone has to climb up the "stone" to take pictures, and our land is certainly no exception (see picture). Also, what I have been most looking forward to is seeing the Khumbu Glacier up close (see picture). After staying for about half an hour, I couldn't wait to leave... It was cold and windy, so cold that my hands and face were stiff... Once again, I admired the climbers who climbed to the top. Next, came the trip down the mountain. Dream over, one of life's bucket list!

Climbing up the small slope behind Dingboche, there is a vast plateau. The two peaks in front are Taboche and Cholatse (Figure 1). On the left is the Imja River and the valley, and behind is the magnificent Ama Dablam (Figure 2). I had actually seen this scenery dozens of times on blogs and in videos before setting off. But seeing it in person is still amazing, like walking into a window wallpaper. Along the way, you will pass pastures that are covered with green grass in summer and where shepherds come to graze their livestock. The shepherd’s stone hut is like the residence of dwarfs in fairy tales (Figure 3). The morning was a comfortable walk, crossing the Imja River and after lunch, it was an uphill road, rising 300 meters along the canyon (Figure 4). At nearly 5,000 feet above sea level, the oxygen content in the air is half that of the surface. While going uphill, I greedily took big gulps of air, but at the same time the extremely cold air made my trachea very sensitive and we both kept coughing. At Thukla Pass, there are several memorial tablets erected for climbers who died while climbing Mount Everest. They were all adventurers with dreams. Ordinary humans simply would not have the courage to climb to the top of Mount Everest! We arrived at Lobuche at around 3:00 pm. After settling our luggage, the tour guide took us to the small hill next to the mountain house to see the Khumbu Glacier and overlook tomorrow's destination - Everest Base Camp! Although the journey was short, it was uphill (Figure 6), the sun was out ☁️, and the wind was very strong 🌬️, so I was freezing! No matter how beautiful the scenery is, I have no mood to appreciate it. I just want to hide back in the mountain hut as soon as possible! We will arrive at base camp tomorrow...stay tuned...

Climbing up the stairs along the village, it was flat and downhill in the morning, and due to the clear weather, we could clearly see several high mountains. Behind us is Kongde Ri and in front are Taboche and Ama Dablam. In the far corner is the shy Everest, because it rarely shows up🫣. All the way to the lunch location is downhill, the walk is easy but the heart sinks more and more .... because now the lower the lower, the better to go up 😰. Down to the riverside village of Phungi Thenga at 3250m is the place for lunch. In other words, after lunch we had to ascend 680m to reach today's finish 🥲 After lunch is a long climb, the road is wide and easy to walk, it is the constant z-shaped uphill, we moved forward at 🐌 speed, about 1 hour later we reached Tengpoche (3867m). After coming to Tengboche, the snow-capped mountains are closer to us (see picture). The most noticeable thing about arriving at Tengboche must be Thyangboche. It is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu Valley. The monastery was founded in 1916 by Lama Guru, but was destroyed by an earthquake in 1934 and subsequently rebuilt. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by fire again in 1989. With international aid and the help of enthusiastic people in the area, it was once again rebuilt into its present stone building. During our visit we happened to meet a monk who also showed us the newly expanded part. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside the temple. We can only see the exterior of the temple. (see picture) We originally planned to stay in Tengpoche today, but since it is the peak climbing season and there are only 3 guesthouses in Tengpoche, all of them are full, so we need to walk an extra 3.1km to Pangboche for the night. Continuing up for another 1.5 hours, we arrived at the guesthouse in Pangboche. Today is a relatively long day of walking, and I feel a little tired at the end🙃 But not my legs are tired😂 After the journey...to be continued...

The road is relatively flat in the morning, but all uphill in the afternoon. The whole journey takes about 5-6 hours. We had breakfast at 7:45am and set off at 8:30am! In the morning we will shuttle back and forth between the two banks of the Dudh Koshi River. Dhud koshi means milk river, as the name suggests the river water is the color of milk. Behind the river is the ancient peak of Thamserku, which is 6608m above sea level. We had lunch in the small town of Monjo at around 11 o'clock. We will pass several suspension bridges along the way, including the most famous double suspension bridge. Below is the old suspension bridge, which has been out of use for many years. The new suspension bridge above is named after Hillary, the first New Zealander to reach the summit of Mount Everest. After crossing the Hillary Suspension Bridge, it was a two-hour uphill journey. From Monjo (2855m) to Namche (3440m), it is already a higher altitude area, and we all climbed at a fast speed. Walk slower and your breathing will flow more smoothly. As long as the weather is good, you can see snow-capped mountains above your head. Namche is the largest town in the mountains and also a mountain paradise for tourists! There are hiking supplies stores, souvenir shops, currency exchange shops, coffee shops, and bars! In the afternoon, we all went to the cafe to chill ~ Of course, we also visited the souvenir shop.
