#summervacay I just visited Camogli for the first time, a charming coastal town about two hours from Milan, and I'm completely smitten! I absolutely love how its colorful buildings blend seamlessly with the coastline, creating what feels like a vibrant, dreamlike painting. The main pier is located behind the tower, offering numerous boat trips to nearby spots every day, like Portofino. This time, I took a boat to San Fruttuoso, a serene and mysterious abbey built right on a secluded beach in a cove. The water there was incredibly clear; I can only imagine how crowded it must get in the summer! For me, truly happy times are when I can leisurely soak in the beauty of the world around me. It doesn't have the same "dilapidated charm" as Palermo (though that charm has its own beauty!). It's about an 80-minute drive from Palermo and is primarily a holiday destination for local Sicilians – we only saw a few Americans hiking along the way! Here's what makes this town special: Charming Town: Blue Windows & Flowers: The town is adorned with lovely blue-framed windows and an abundance of vibrant flowers. White Houses & Cacti: With its white houses and cacti, it feels reminiscent of a Greek or Moroccan island, beautifully decorated and picturesque. #summervacay Originally, I just wanted to check out that peculiar, long beach strip, Chesil Beach, extending away from the mainland behind Weymouth on the map. So, I simply decided to book a stopover here on my journey south, and it turns out this little town held quite a few unexpected delights! 🥰 I only found out upon arriving that Weymouth was the host city for the sailing events during the 2012 London Olympics! That immediately created a sense of familiarity and connection. Moreover, as an important naval defense base from the Middle Ages right up to modern times, it still has remnants of WWII military fortifications that were in use even then. During the D-Day landings, Portland Island, just south of Weymouth, was also one of the crucial assembly and departure points. I've visited quite a few "once-glorious" seaside resort towns in the UK, and while each has its own character, they generally feel quite similar. However, Weymouth stands out! With its subtropical vegetation and colorful old harbor buildings, it truly has the distinct feel of a charming European continental seaside town.
