Shenzhen has been my home for almost 6 years now and I honestly thing it’s one of the best untapped travel destinations out there, it is one of the most advanced cities in the world but the cost of living and visiting is still really low. It rivals the modernity and diversity of Hong Kong but at a fraction of the cost, you can even do it in a day trip from Hong Kong as it’s so close! China has opened up to tourism recently and is offering a lot of countries visa free access or extended transfer visas (Check to see if your country has been added to the list!) ⭐️ Airport - It is located to the west of the city and is on the express metro line that takes you through the main urban areas, connecting at the mega hubs of Futian & Gangxia. You can use apple pay, Qr code or use cash to buy tokens ⭐️ Train - Shenzhen is connected to the rest of china and also HK via high speed rail, they depart and arrive at Futian, or Shenzhen North station - both of which are connected to the metro. Foriegners can use these services, book via trip and scan your passport at ticket gates - you no longer need to collect paper tickets! ⭐️ Accommodation - Hotels in Shenzhen are a lot cheaper than Hong Kong, but if you want to travel on a lower budget I’d advice the local chains such as Atour, True Go & Vienna hotels - they can cost as little as $30 per night and offer basic but comfortable rooms in good locations. (All close to metro) ⭐️ Travel - This is where China really excels, the metro in Shenzhen is one of the biggest in the world and one of the cheapest. You can travel anywhere in the city for less than $2 and the trains are every minute or so, with full air conditioning and most stations have toilets / wifi. Didi is the ride hailing app and that is also very cheap, around $8 for a half an hour taxi ride ⭐️ Food - There is so much cheap food here you will be spoiled for choice, the older areas of Dongmen & Laojie in Luohu offer some of the best authentic street food and canteen style restaurants. Then areas such as Nanshan, Chegongmeow & Fumin have lots of food streets with every style of Chinese food from all 6 major regions. Dishes can start at $1 and portions are generous. ⭐️ Attractions - Shenzhen is a super green city and most of it’s main attractions are based around nature and the outdoors, especially hiking, cycling and beaches - all of which are free! Other than that the few exhibits and galleries that there are are super cheap! I was utterly shocked when I visited Phnom Penh by how amazing the city is and how underrated it is. Everyone talks about Bangkok and cities in Vietnam, but PP is on par with them for an incredible experience but so much cheaper! ⭐️ The airport is quite close to the city and there is a train, but it’s quite infrequent so the best option is GRAB app. Book a transfer in advance on trip or use grab as when you arrive the terminal is quite chaotic and it’s hard to trust the drivers trying to shout fares at you. ⭐️ Accommodation - This is where Phnom Penh can save you money, even with inbound travel booming there is a still so much choice and prices have stayed low. The amazing think about this city is how many independent boutique hotels there are, I stayed in the Aquarius and it was one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever stayed in and one of the cheapest. Most hotels here have breakfast, rooftop pool and offer food options through the day at a price. ⭐️ Currency - This is a big thing here in Cambodia as they use two currencies. They use the US dollar and the local currency of Cambodian Riel, the dollar is the more stable and used but they will try and give you chance in Riel. So be careful when buying stuff to see if the change works out well, i usually update the rates daily when I leave the hotel. It’s mainly at street vendors and markets, restaurants and malls have fixed exchange rates and refund rates ⭐️ Transport - Phnom Penh has a long way to go in terms of infrastructure development so here you do need to rely on bike riders, taxis and tuk tuks. grab is good here especially to guarantee a taxi with good air conditioning! ⭐️ attractions - museums, galleries and restaurants here are very cheap and I saw so much of the city for less than $10 a day for entry fees. The only exception being the killing field tours but there are deals on booking sites. ⭐️ card / cash - I used a lot of cash in Phnom Penh compared to other cities in Asia as some places still don’t take card. Kyoto is one of the most instagramable cities in Japan and it has some of the most recognisable landmarks - the best part is that most of them are free! So if you’re poking for a budget trip to Japan then you should head to Kyoto. ⭐️ Train - Kyoto is on many main lines from Tokyo, Osaka and Nogoya and this is a great way to save money. You can get lots of one or two stop high speed trains, they are much cheaper than direct trains and the changes are often short so don’t add much time to the journey! ⭐️ hotels - Kyoto isn’t as built up as other cities and as a result hotels have more space, bigger rooms and more pricing options. So you can either save money here or pay similar prices to other Japanese cities and treat yourself to an amazing room you couldn’t afford elsewhere that’s what I did! ⭐️ attractions - this is the highlight for sure! Kyoto is infamous for the Arashiyama bamboo forest and the Tori Gates of Fushimi. And both of them are totally free! They are easy to access with public transport and charge no fee at all, so great if you are on a budget! ⭐️ Food - all the main food highlights are focused Round the main station and the streets that trail off it. Again this saves money as no matter where you stay in the city you can get public transport to this spot and wander for food. It’s also a great place for souvenirs snd gifts - I found the most reasonable prices in Japan so far and most stores will help you with low cost international packing and shipping if you spend a certain amount! If you’re looking to visit Japan on a budget I’d strongly recommend checking out Hiroshima, it’s a wonderful city that doesn’t get enough praise for how budget friendly it is. It has a dark history but it’s turned into a lively and eclectic city with a huge food and shopping scene. ⭐️ Trains - We got the Shinkansen here from Osaka and it was a lot cheaper to do a train with stops. It only added 90 minutes to the journey but cost us half the price. The ticket agent will help you find cheaper tickets if you’re willing to do stops! ⭐️ Hotels - There are not as many options here compared to other cities in Japan so I stayed at a local boutique hotel. The rooms are small and there are not as many amenities as name brand chains but they’re great for a few days! we stayed in the Kiro hotel in Nishihiratsukacho. ⭐️ transport - the best part about Hiroshima is how compact The city is and you can walk to most of the hot spots. We only used transport when it rained. Everything else we walked to, so a great way to save money! ⭐️ Food - we didn’t have any issues here with food, even the more premium meals we had were very well priced and great quality. To save money head to Hondori! One of the biggest covered pedestrian streets I’ve seen, hundreds of street food vendors and restaurants. We came here everyday as we saw so much we wanted to try! There is also Korean BBQ / Sushi / teppanyaki on the side street if you want to spend more money. ⭐️ Nature - Hiroshima is a very green and beautiful city so a lot of our time was spent exploring and enjoying this. If you’re worried about how expensive Japan can be, fear not there are places where your money goes further - Nagoya is one of them! Even though it’s one of japans biggest cities it is often overlooked. However I’d highly recommend it as a cheaper alternate to Tokyo! It has the same vibes, great shopping and the food and culture you’d expect from the capital. ⭐️ Flights / airport - The nearest airport is Nagoya Chubu Centrair and it’s popular with low cost airlines. If you’re willing to travel with just carry on there are many options for you. However the airport is far from the city, the train is the cheapest option if you buy in person ( they only accept cash) ⭐️ Hotels - I’ve stayed here twice and both times I chose local chains for their lower price. The Vessel inn in Nishiki is one of the best value hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Low price, simple but comfortable room and an amazing breakfast! ⭐️ Food - This is where Nagoya really stands out, I found food options here were more accessible. Japanese chains like coco ichiban, dotour coffee, Komeda Coffee and Mos burger over big meals for good prices. And the street food areas around Osu & Sakae have every type of food imaginable starting from around $1. ⭐️ Shopping - the shopping here is amazing, along with all your big brands there are so many markets and pedestrian streets with the lowest average prices I’ve seen so far in Japan. ⭐️ Attractions - I did most of the main tourist spots and was surprised by how reasonable the prices were on average, especially with some offering deals such as reduced entry or combo deals for multiple sites. ⭐️ transport - Metro all the way! The subway here is really enforcing, really easy to use and cheap. I took the metro everywhere and was impressed by how well it connects to the best tourist areas. Overall an amazing city, and some of my most affordable trips to Japan! Ho Chi Minh City has become a shining light of Vietnam’s incredible economic boom, the city is rapidly emerging as one of the great hubs of Asia. However it is still a very affordable city and still has a lot of it’s old world charm, so you get the best of both worlds. ⭐️ Airport - Like most airports in Vietnam there is no direct rail or metro connection to the city - the options are bus, coach or car. I advise booking airport transfers ahead of time with trip to guarantee someone is waiting for you. If you arrive without a booking it can be hard to find an honest driver to get you to the city. So be safe and book ahead! ⭐️ Hotels - A lot of western hotels have opened new luxury hotels as the city has boomed, and the prices for rooms is starting to increase. However you can still get affordable stays if you are willing to stay a little further out of downtown. I found nice bed and breakfast offerings around Ben Thanh - and also a lot of homestays and rentals if that is something you would consider. The rooms are small and convenient and within walking distance of most sites. ⭐️ Transport - Ho Chi Minh has only just opened its metro network and it still has one line, it covers some of the sights but not all. There are a lot of areas you can walk to from the metro,but for some sites you will need a taxi - so use the grab app to make sure you are safe. A lot of the older parts of the city still has plenty of tuk tuks and mopeds, cash in hand for the drivers and you get a good view of the city! ⭐️ Food - Like Hanoi the majority of the food here is locally sourced and there is a limited spread of western restaurants. I mainly ate at markets and street vendors as it’s great to see them cooking your order fresh in front of you. I was also amazed at the range of coffee shops here in the city, some of them are attractions in themselves. Check Instagram for the latest viral spot! Also conveniences stores like Circle K are great for air conditioning, water and snacks in the day! ⭐️ Attractions - The city has a lot of history and there are some really fascinating museums here about the war, and the reunification of vietnam. They can be quite busy and often have one or two small windows to get tickets that get very busy, so buy ahead online! Vietnam is one of the most popular destinations in southeast Asia and Hanoi is an absolute highlight, a beautiful and romantic city that has so much to offer to those on a budget. Overall costs here are very low and you are still able get get some nice hotels, restaurants and cafes without having to splurge.. ⭐️ Airport - The airport is around 30/40 minutes drive from the airport but there is no rail or metro connection yet so road is the only option. I would strongly advise booking a transfer in advance through trip as they will wait in arrivals with your name on a card. When I arrived there were lots of taxi and scooter drivers shouting at people trying to offer rides and it was stressful. ⭐️ Hotels - Hotels here can still be very reasonable for high star western hotels, but if you are looking for budget hotels the local spa hotels are great. Normally a lot smaller they offer decent rooms, breakfast and often a pool and spa area. I Stayed in the Hoan Kiem area and there were streets full of these hotels - it was nice and quiet and really close to good food options. ⭐️ Transport - There is very little public transport here, there is a single metro line but does not cover much of the tourist hot spots . I am honest I walked for 90% of my time in the city as everything is a suitable distance, for longer trips or in bad weather use the grab app to book taxis! You can also do the tuk tuks or back of the bikes, but they can be quite scary if you are not used to them! ⭐️ Food - Western chains are common here but the local food is what is is all about, I ate mainly around the central lake as there are plenty of local restaurants here. They are very cheap and the food is cooked fresh in front of you, if they don’t have seating you can take your food to the park around the lake. ⭐️ Shopping - Hanoi is still relatively behind other cities in Asia when it comes to modern shopping and malls - but this is half of the charm. The city still thrives on street vendors and markets, great for clothes and trinkets. Prices are very cheap so it’s not advised to haggle, the prices are already low and the vendors need to make a living too! ⭐️ museums - The museums and galleries here are very cheap, often just a token entracnce fee. They are actually very informative and also a great place to hide from the rain in wet season! Taipei is without a doubt one of the most vibrant cities in Asia and is well worth a visit, however with any modern city it can be an expensive city to go to. However having been a few times there are some tips below to help save some money. Airport transfer - The main international airport for the city is quite a long drive and the transfers can be expensive. If your flight arrives at a decent time get the MTR link directly into Taipei main station, it is cheaper and more efficient (if you land late or super early then book a transfer direct on trip) Hotels - Western brand name hotels can be expensive in Taipei, but there are a lot of local hotels that are more reasonable without sacrificing comfort. With the efficient metro it doesn’t matter where you stay for location - I tend to stay around Taipei arena as there is a good range of budget hotels, cheap restaurants and close to the metro line. Food - For snacks and day to day eating the best spots are the convenience chains such as 7/11, Family Mart & Lawson. They do a great range of food to go, cold drinks and coffee and are very well priced. For main meals it can be pricey, but there are lots of noodle bars and street food areas that offer budget alternatives. Night markets - This is the biggest one for me, the night markets are the cheapest places to eat, shop and drink and also give you an amazing look into the Night life of Taipei. The main onies are Shilin, Raohe, Ningxia, Tonghua, and Nanjichang. They have hundreds of food vendors and you are able to pick and choose from each. You need to head there after 5PM so it’s a good place to end your day. Public transport - Taipei is famous for it’s efficient metro and it’s the cheapest way to travel the city, along side the buses you can make it to most major tourist areas this way. Traffic in Taipei can be horrific, so avoid taxis as they are expensive and often very inefficient and slow! The city is very pedestiran friendly and lots of major sites are very walkable. Pre book your tickets for eshibitiuons, galeries and attractions on trip as they can often offer combo deals and vouchers you cannot get if oyu book in person on the day! Bangkok is one of the best cities in Asia and it’s becoming more and more popular every year, and as a result prices are increasing! However there are many tips to help you save money and enjoy more of the city. I’ve been many times and always manage to stick to my budget with these tips. ⭐️ Travel - Avoid taxis as they can be expensive and unreliable, use the BST / Metro where you can. It’s not the best network but covers most main areas, use the GRAB app for taxis if you need them. It’s reliable and safe. ⭐️ Airport transfer / train - Both airports in Bangkok are now on the metro network so if your flight lands at a good time use these. The roads from the office often have too much traffic! If you land late book a transfer with trip. ⭐️ Malls! There are plenty of malls in Bangkok and they are a great place to take advantage of air conditioning, cheap wifi and toilets! ⭐️ Food can be a big expense so stick to 7/11, Lawson & Family mart for snacks, coffee and water. Everyone loves dinosaurs and you’ll also love the price of this museum! For less than £1 you can take a look around the Natural History Museum in Taipei, Taiwan - housed in an old bank branch from the Japanese era. It’s located directly across the road form the Taiwan National museum and can be done on the same ticket if you buy the four museum combo ticket! (Totally worth it) The museum is focused around a hall of life sized replica skeletons of some the most infamous dinosaurs. It has lots of information in bilingual presentations and also offers audio guides for a small fee. The museum is small but well laid out, with a one way system to tour the exhibits. The building has been beautifully restored and there’s an exhibit on the banks history and the restoration project to turn it into a museum. They also have a really cool vault experience to show you how the bank stored all its valuables back in the day. There’s a nice gift shop, cafe and some really helpful staff throughout. If you’re looking for budget friendly things to do in Taipei you need to check out the Taiwan museum. It’s easy to get to, very reasonably priced and has a very diverse range of exhibits on offer. Entry starts at £3 but you can also get a combo ticket for 4 museums in Taiwan (railway museum, natural history museum are in walking distance and the south museum is a metro ride away) I did the combo ticket and did three museums in one morning. The building itself is beautiful and was built in the 1930s, it’s currently under renovation with the finished interior stunning you as you enter. The main hall and atrium is beautifully finished. The exhibits themselves range from nature, industry to a section on the ‘made in Taiwan’ phenomenon of the 80/90s. I also found the exhibit on endemic Taiwanese nature really fascinating Really worth a visit, especially if you have time to do multiple museums. Huahin is situated on the coast, and most of their lively hood here depends on the fresh catch from the sea. If you are a fan of seafood, head to Huahin Night Market, you will be able to get really budget friendly options as thisnisnt as touristy her therefore the stuff here are quite reasonable. We had lobster, 8 scallops, vegetables and a pad thai cost us less than $50 for the entire meal, definitely a steal. The items sold by the vendors here are also much cheaper than in Bangkok too! So, this is a place u have to visit before the prices shoots up!

Simply because this is where we won't be faced with touristy prices, but instead reasonable friendly prices which is wallet friendly and the real Thai deal! There is a market called World Market located at 109 17 Thawi Watthana, Bangkok 10170, Thailand which is just a short 30-45mins drive west of Bangkok City. It is a huge areas with long rows of market selling local Thai grocerries and Thai snacks and food too! We had this 2 bowl of noodles which only cost less than 120bahts. You won't get this in Bangkok City or other touristy markets. So head on down here especially when you have your own personal transport.

On Monday, 29/0523, it was scotched hot, reaching a temperature of 36°c, me and a group of 3 friends alighted at Itsaraphap MRT station and walked about 15mins to a wonderful temple named Wat Arun. It costs about 100 baht (for foreigners) to enter and they gave us a bottle of the bottle labeled Wat Arun. The entire territory of the temple is beautiful and very well kept. In the middle of the temple there was a tower 82 metres high. It looks out of this world. I would recommend going up the steep stairs and savoring the view over Bangkok and its rivers and greenery. Opening hours: daily from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm It's time to cross the river to the beautiful Wat Pho (known for the famous recumbent statue of Buddha). It cost us about 5baht each per trip to Wat Pho via ferry boat. It costs approximately 200 baht (for foreigners) to enter, quite a large amount for the entrance. However, the experiences and cognizance that I gained were worth it. The reclining Buddha is 46 m long and 15 m high, located in a sheltered temple. Along the way, there are bronze bowls with 108 coins for you to drop onto each bowls provided The staff stated that it will bring you luck! It is "free" to obtain the coins, but a donation of 20 Baht is required. Wat Pho hours of operation: Daily 8am to 630pm All in all, it's been a hell of a warm, sweaty day but both temples were not a disappointment. #bangkok Chatuchak Weekend Market is a traditional market in Bangkok. This market features pretty much everything any Thai market has to offer. Bargaining is still part and parcel of the exchange. The market also has plenty of food vendors, with pretty much any cuisine you can imagine. It has always been a great place to visit in Bangkok among locals and tourists. Labranda Les Dunes Doe on Agadir is located in the perfect spot, the marina, shops, bars as well as a casino are all within walking distance. The hotel offers guests access to their own private beach area where you can be guaranteed to have a sun bed available. There is also an on-site shisha night club which opens in the evenings and has live music which you can enjoy. The hotel activities team called Animation made my stay very pleasant as they gave me suggestions of what I can do outside of the hotel activity wise and helped me book the activities. If you're travelling with kids then this hotel is perfect as it has a children's play room and there are fun activities for children carried out by the animation team throughout the day such as dance lessons, swimming pool games, musical chairs. The rooms were fairly basic, on my first night I noticed alot of ants in my room next to the balcony door, after complaining to the staff I was quickly moved to another room where there were no further issues through out my 7 day holiday. Lai Foong Lala Noodle is always our top choice for breakfast in Kuala Lumpur, they serve the best lala noodle soup (clams) in town with very affordable price.
