Getting There - Masai Mara National Reserve is approximately 5hrs drive from Nairobi. You can drive or take a flight to any of the air strips in the park. Attractions - Masai Mara National Reserve is 1500km². Given the size of the park, you never have to wait to spot interesting wildlife. The wildlife ranges from the secretary bird, vultures, ostriches, lions, cheetahs, leopards to hippopotamuses. The chances of finding a pride of lions hunting or feasting are very high. I was very lucky to have spotted the big 5 of the Mara including the elusive leopard. Vehicles are equipped with radios which the guides use to communicate with other guides to share locations of wildlife and in case of emergency. Hotels - There are several options available. I stayed at Mara Legends Camp. They have tents set up with toilets and showers. The team at the camp is very attentive to guest needs. Food & Restaurants - There is a main restaurant and a bar. At the main restaurant they served western and Indian cuisine during the 3 days I stayed there. Night Safari is very exciting. It was a surprise to see a civet cat 😜 The elephant comes out to look for sweets at night when the snack stall is closed 😂 In fact, #KhaoYai is not difficult to get to. It is a 2.5-hour drive from Bangkok. You can charter a car or take the bus. We arrived at the bus center at 5:30 in the morning to wait for the bus, but it was full and the bus was leaving. No one should visit South Africa without going on safari. First, you need to decide what natural reserve to choose. The best so far is considered to be Kruger National Park, and it’s the biggest one and the most popular among tourists. 🖍️Two points you need to know before going there: 1. Dyer Island in South Africa is a sanctuary for marine wild life, known for the abundance of wild life including whales and great white sharks. Definitely not one of your typical island tours but much better! Rating - 10/10. Truly unforgettable experience for me despite getting sea sick. The staff and marine biologists were extremely professional and taught us so much about the marine life and conservation. Getting There - Recommend to book one of the many tour package that can bring you on a whale watching tour around Dyer Island. Attractions - Chance to see the marine big 5 up close. 1. Needless to say, the highlight was seeing some Southern Right whales. We were so lucky that day and saw a mother and its calf coming up close to our boat! What an exciting moment! 2. We were able to see some sharks and if you are feeling adventurous, you can try the cage diving. 3. We went around the island and saw so many adorable seals frolicking around and hunting for fish. 4. Also visited a conservation facility for African penguins to learn more about wildlife conservation and penguin's habitats. 5. Didn't get a chance to see dolphins sadly so there is an element of luck. Food & Restaurants - We started the tour in a town called Hermanus. My recent safari adventure at Nkambeni Safari Camp in Kruger National Park was an unforgettable experience. While I didn't manage to spot all five of the Big Five, the opportunity to explore this incredible wildlife sanctuary was invaluable. The camp itself was a serene oasis amidst the rugged wilderness. The spacious rooms provided a comfortable and relaxing retreat after a day of game drives. Although the tent walls are thin, the early morning chorus of birds was a delightful natural alarm clock. Don't forget to pack a hoodie, as the nights can get chilly. One of the highlights of my stay was the delicious cuisine. The camp offered a variety of South African delicacies, and the food was consistently excellent. On the last night, we enjoyed a traditional campfire dinner, complete with singing, dancing, and the opportunity to join in the festivities. It was a truly immersive and enjoyable experience. After a day of exploring the park, I found great relaxation by the pool. It was the perfect place to unwind and soak up the sun. While I didn't see a rhino this time, Nkambeni Safari Camp exceeded my expectations in every other way. In the #Giraffe Restaurant, visitors can feed the giraffes 🦒🦒🦒🦒, one of the must-visit attractions on Phu Quoc Island, you can feed the giraffes up close and eat carrots 🥕, very happy! The wild park was about 20 minutes tour by car, but we saw quite a few animals, sitting on the left side can see more animals, although we sat on the right side, we could see the giraffes closer, the children were very happy. To get a real flavor of what this unique country has to offer, rent a 4x4 truck with a roof tent and set off to a drive of a lifetime. Places to visit: - Windhoek- capital of Namibia - See the amazing Quiver trees at the Quiver tree forest - Drive through the Tropic of Capricorn… there are two points! - Take a hike in the Grand Canyon of Namibia - River Fish Canyon. - Get lost under the sand of the fascinating ghost town of Kolmanskop - Hike the incredible dunes in Sossusvlei and see the 900 year old trees in Deadvlei, an amazing clay pan - Visit the charming town of Luderitz - Make a quick stop for gas and apple pie in Solitaire - Take a stroll around Swakopmund and see flamingos and seals on Wolvis Bay - Sleep under a bed of stars in Spitzkoppe- The night sky is your 1 million star hotel! - Go on a self drive game/ safari in Etosha. We saw giraffes, buffaloes, dear, different species of birds, lots of zebras. They are everywhere! Didn’t spot any lions but we saw these in another safari we did in Tanzania. Africa to me, is the most beautiful continent on earth! 💰How much does it cost to rent a house on wheels? We went to Namibia for 15 days but rented the vehicle for 12 days. If you have time and money to stay longer, I’d suggest staying at least three weeks so you can take your time driving, resting and taking in the scenery. Namibia is a big a country and you’ll spend a lot of time behind the wheel because there’s a lot to see. The cost for renting a 4x4 with a roof tent was $1,200 including full insurance, with a company called Britz. There are other companies and they have different prices depending on the type of vehicle, tent and extras. We went for the budget friendly, basic vehicle - Not for the instagram friendly; Jeep with solar panel for a ridiculous price. At the end of the day, you are still sleeping in a tent! 😂 The price included: • Sleeping bags, pillows and blankets for two. • Kitchenware - plates, glasses, kettle, pots & pans. • Small gas cylinder • Portable stove • Picnic chairs and table • Freezer Gas cost: 600 and we drove 4,000 km. Campsites cost: $210 (5 campsites) The days we didn’t have the car, we slept at Urban Camp in Windhoek, that was an additional $120. We would have loved spending more time in Namibia but our budget didn’t allow. Will definitely go back to explore more of this beautiful gem in the world. A staycation in my beautiful country Namibia. We took some time away to a lodge (which is a cabin in nature), we went to a luxury lodge named Desert Grace (The Pink Lady). Their most special feature is a Pink Fridge in the middle of nowhere. How to get there: by driving or carhire. About 3hrs from Windhoek. The lodges provide transportation in between scenic spots. High points of this trip: 1. Introduction and history of the lodge 2. Private pools with every room 3. A fantastic bar with neo sign “One Night in Namibia” 4. Wildlife - animals on the drive It’s a special experience of Namibia Tip: try to stay one night at each lodge in the same area.
