🇲🇦The Magical Doors of Morocco🇲🇦
🏜️Morocco isn’t just about deserts and souks — it’s also a wonderland of doors. Yes, 🚪doors ! From the winding alleys of Marrakech to the blue streets of Chefchaouen, every doorway tells a story.
💙❤️🤎🤍 These colorful, hand-carved doors are more than just entrances — they reflect Morocco’s rich history, blending Berber, Arabic, Andalusian, and French influences. You’ll find bold colors, detailed patterns, and brass knockers shaped like hands or stars.
📷🤳Each one is a piece of art, inviting you to pause, take a photo, and imagine the stories behind it. Trust me — in Morocco, even the doors are unforgettable.

I visited the city of Marrakech in Morocco and it was an experience full of colors, smells and sounds. I stayed at La #Mamounia_Hotel, a very luxurious hotel in the middle of a large garden, and although it cost about $500 a night, it offers a true Moroccan experience with high-end service.
#Marrakech
#Morocco
I started my trip by visiting the Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, a lively place with popular shows, street vendors and traditional Moroccan food. Then I went to the Bahia Palace, which was unique in its architectural design and Moroccan decoration. I also visited the Majorelle Gardens, which were full of rare colors and plants, a very comfortable place to walk and take pictures.
I walked through the old town, and the alleys and traditional markets inside gave it an authentic feel, and I bought Moroccan souvenirs and spices there. Eating in Marrakech was an experience in itself, especially the tagines and couscous, and the prices varied depending on the place, but were often reasonable.
The city combines luxury and traditional spirit, and every moment within it is filled with details you will forget.

Exploring the Beauty of Bahia Palace
Visiting Bahia Palace was like stepping into a masterpiece of Moroccan architecture. Built in the 19th century for Grand Vizier Si Moussa, this palace was designed to be one of the most magnificent in Morocco—and even today, it still reflects its former glory.
As I walked through its ornate courtyards, colorful mosaics, and intricately carved wooden ceilings, I couldn’t help but admire the craftsmanship. The palace is a blend of Moroccan and Andalusian styles, with its zellige tilework, stucco decorations, and peaceful gardens creating a truly magical atmosphere.
One of the highlights was the Grand Courtyard, where white marble floors contrast beautifully with the surrounding cedarwood doors. The harem quarters, with their detailed carvings and painted ceilings, gave a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyle of the past.
Bahia Palace is more than just a historical site—it’s a place where you can feel the elegance of Moroccan heritage. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or simply looking for a peaceful escape in Marrakesh, this palace is definitely worth a visit!

The Lost Grandeur of Marrakesh
Exploring Badi Palace - The Lost Grandeur of Marrakesh
Visiting Badi Palace felt like stepping into a piece of Morocco’s royal history. Built in the late 16th century by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur, this once-magnificent palace was designed to showcase the power and wealth of the Saadian dynasty. Though now in ruins, its massive courtyards, sunken gardens, and towering walls still hold a sense of grandeur.
Walking through the site, I could imagine its past splendor—once adorned with gold, marble, and intricate mosaics imported from across the world. The palace’s vast courtyard, with its large reflecting pools, was particularly stunning. Climbing up to the terrace offered an incredible panoramic view of the Marrakesh Medina.
One of the highlights was exploring the underground dungeons and passageways, adding a mysterious touch to the experience. The palace is also home to the Minbar of the Koutoubia Mosque, a beautifully preserved wooden pulpit that showcases incredible craftsmanship.
Despite its ruined state, Badi Palace still carries the echoes of its glorious past, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in Moroccan history and architecture.

The Doorways of Marrakesh
After spending a few days in Marrakesh, something thats really stood out to me is all the amazing and impressive doors, of all different shapes and sizes, that you see in Marrakesh. Many of the doors are very old made of solid wood and have probably been in daily use for decades if not hundreds of years. As you wander around Marrakesh, make sure you look out for these overlooked wonders.

Calls to Prayers at Koutoubia
The Koutoubia Mosque is the spiritual heart of Marrakesh. The mosque dates from the 1100s and it is a magnificent example of Moroccan spiritual heritage. Only Muslims are allowed to enter the mosque but outside the mosque there is a plaza with beautiful gardens and fountains. This area is a real respite from the hustle and bustle of the old town city centre just a few metres away.

A Palatial Art Museum
If you want to skip the crowds at the Ben Youssef Madrasa or the Bahia Palace, then the Dar El Bacha Museum is for you! I actually spent more time here than at the Ben Yusuf Marissa and in my opinion it’s equally as beautiful but with a lot less crowds, the entry price is a little cheaper too. It was originally a governors Palace and the governor built it in a way that would rival the other beautiful buildings in the city so it’s not as old but it is stunningly beautiful. It also houses some really interesting artefacts from the 18th to 20th centuries.

A Scholastic Surprise
The Ben Youssef Madrasa is a real architectural treasure right in the heart of the old town of Marrakesh, the building dates from the 16th century and at it’s height had 900 students that lived and studied on site. It’s absolutely beautiful with stunning and in Tait wood and stone carvings, beautiful tiled walls and floors. It is one of the main attractions in Malc and as such does get quite full with tourists; I went at lunchtime and it seemed to be a little less busy.

A Resonating Riad
Riad Chennaoui Marrakech, it’s a wonderful example of a traditional Moroccan Riad. Traditional Riads have an inner courtyard and garden, often where breakfast is served. The word Riad in Arabic means paradise. and is used be cause these traditional houses contain beautiful furniture and intricate and colourful tiled walls.

Stunningly beautiful the hotel
Riad Palais Sebban, Marrakech
Last October, I attended a conference in Marrakech and barely had time for sightseeing. To make up for it, I chose a beautiful hotel where I could unwind – Riad Palais Sebban. After reading reviews that praised it highly, I decided to book my stay there. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by how stunningly beautiful the hotel was. Despite the bustling atmosphere outside and the slightly secluded alleyway leading to it, the interior was a complete contrast – calm and breathtaking. I felt it was even more beautiful than some tourist attractions. The intricate design and charm of the place left a lasting impression, making my stay truly memorable.
Drawbacks: Finding the entrance can be a bit challenging, and it’s important to be cautious of strangers who may offer to guide you to the hotel in exchange for a tip. I had an experience where someone led me through a difficult path that didn’t even take me to the main entrance, which was quite inconvenient.

That's my first experience of Riad in Marrakech. And that's amazing! it's located right near the most touristic place in Marrakech - Jemaa el-Fnaa. We were invited to have a cup of Moroccan tea while waiting for our room. Great buffet breakfast was included in the price of the room. That's an amazing place to stay. Highly recommend!

Koutoubia Mosque
The architecture of the Muslims that stands undefeated no matter the city or country is the mosque, or masjid. A significant place for religious activities, one of the tallest, most beautiful, and largest mosques in Marrakech is the Koutoubia Mosque, a spiritual beacon built in the 12th century during the Hispano-Moresque period. It is known for its luxurious simplicity, crafted by the Almohad dynasty using pink stones to construct the walls, including a rose-colored tower that stands 77.3 meters tall, adorned with a golden arrow and sphere at the top, visible from up to 25 kilometers away, and surrounded by a garden of green and red roses. The interior is decorated in a modern style, with pointed arch windows embellished with ceramics, and the halls are well-divided for various events. The construction of this masjid took over 40 years, starting from 1150 AD, and the prayer room can accommodate up to 25,000 people.
Unfortunately, this place was severely affected by a major earthquake in Morocco at the beginning of September 2023.
Marrakech Medina
The old town area of Marrakech Medina, or the Medina of Marrakech, has been an ancient capital of Islam since the 11th century and retains the original beauty of the Almoravide and Almohade dynasties to this day. You can freely plan a tour of the city, either walking on top of or below the Medina walls as you wish. In this area, there is also the famous market, Marrakech Souks, where you can stop by for some local souvenir shopping, similar to our JJ Market back home. Shops are divided into zones, selling everything from fresh food, handicrafts, clothing, soaps, tea sets, to various accessories for you to browse and shop at your leisure. The market is open from 10 in the morning until around 1 at night. If you're tired from walking, stop by a cafe, every shop is welcoming. If you want to take photos on the rooftop, you'll be surrounded by the warmth of the sun, the dense crowd, and the smoke from cigarettes. Bye!
Sadian Tombs
I waited in line for almost 2 hours to see this.
An old palace converted into a tomb, each room is decorated in Moorish and Moroccan style, using imported marble and gold from Italy, and the floor is covered with eye-catching Zellij tiles. The arches of the roof inside each room, if you look up, you will see Islamic architecture called Muqarnas, which looks like a golden honeycomb like a palace. The main room of this tomb is highlighted by the placement of 12 tall white marble colonnades, called the “Hall of the Twelve Pillars”. The bases of the columns are carved in Iranian style, as is the ceiling. The construction and extension have been passed down from generation to generation. In 1603, a wall was built around this tomb to reserve it as a private area.

Saadian Tombs
The architectural beauty of Marrakech is not only the palaces and mosques, but also the Saadian Tombs, formerly the Badi Palace. After the death of the first leader of the Saadian Sultan Ahmed Al Mansour Ed Dahbi, the son of Sultan al-Ghalib Abdullah, the tomb was built to house the remains of his father and the founder of the empire in 1546-1659, turning the palace into a total of 66 tombs, with 3 main rooms.
The Saadian Tombs were sealed off and were discovered after aerial photographs in 1917 during the French occupation. They were surveyed and cleaned, and it was found that the tomb contained a secondary tomb of Lalla Massouda, an important woman of the Saadian family, as well as a separate garden tomb for the burial of over 170 loyal Jews of the Sultan.

Bahia Palace
Built in the late 19th century by Si Moussa, the Sultan's Grand Vizier, it is situated on a 2-acre site in the heart of the medina of Marrakech. It has 150 rooms. This grand design and architecture dates back to before the Sultan's Grand Vizier, who was once a slave but rose to power in a rather shady way.
In 1900, he died. The palace was passed on to his son Bou Ahmed. It was renovated, with a shady garden and a riad surrounding it. Each room is decorated in a luxurious Moroccan style, with carved stucco and cedar floors as decorations. The Court of Honor area is the highlight of the palace. The open space is decorated with colorful Moroccan celik tiles, surrounded by luxurious riads. It can be said that it is a check-in point here. If there is no picture of this angle, it would be a big mistake. Okay, we didn't miss it.

Marrakech Yves Saint Laurent Majorelle Garden
One of the must-visit tourist attractions when you visit Marrakech! As expected from its reputation, there were a lot of people and the ticket line was quite long. I wondered if it was worth the price, but after seeing the gardens with overwhelming colors, I thought it was a good idea to come see them. Majorelle Garden was more satisfying than I thought. It is a garden where you will find yourself pressing the camera shutter with its exotic scenery and atmosphere, so I recommend visiting it at least once! *Note* Half price discount with student ID!!!! #Marrakech #Morocco #MajorelleGarden #YSL #majorellegarden
Rich Moroccan colored brickwork porch palace
There are so many places worth visiting in Marrakech, and the Bahia Palace is a place that many people visit!Because there are many colored bricks, stained glass and beautiful doors rich in Moroccan characteristics! It is really perfect for taking pictures anywhere, and there is a beautiful garden with a beautiful fountain in the shadow of coconut trees.
However, the security in Morocco is not very good. I went to the Royal Palace because I couldn't find the entrance using Google map, so I was targeted by some thieves. He said he would show me where the entrance was, so I foolishly followed him again... He took me in the middle to see some markets, but in the end did not take me to the royal palace, and then asked me to charge!I kept no, and then he left.
I think it's lucky, because later I read on the internet that some people said they were cheating money like this, and they would fight to death. Maybe I was dressed too depressed, so he let me go 😂😂

Rating - 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I heard this Bacha branch always have a long queue. They only have a small area for dining in so turnaround of table occupancy is quite slow. Still, worth the wait, based from my experience.
I was used to putting chantilly cream on scones but it was the first time I’ve put it in coffee!!! My oh my, what a pleasant surprise! hahaha. Loved it! I have also added freshly ground vanilla bean to my coffee. The sandwiches we ordered were ok and just about right for a light, early dinner. By the
time we were there, almost all desserts have run out. We decided to try their tiramisu. It was delicious but not as mind-blowing as the one we had in a restaurant in Sentosa (clue: I had a separate trip moment post about the restaurant serving the best tiramisu I’ve tasted here in Singapore).

Bacha Coffee
Bacha coffee was style over substance. Sub standard coffee notwithstanding egalitarian hype. Certainly the prices screamed daylight robbery.
Although the location was beautiful, but the scam was impressionable.
Food and desserts were good.
There are other places to spend your money.
Remember, Baccha Coffee has nothing to do with coffee as per locals who thinks there is a coffee shop in a truly noteworthy museum. Its legacy is a borderline scheming conceived by a Singapore firm who backed TWG.
A point to serious think, is Morocco or the Marrakech location where the cafe is housed even known for coffee - and you will have your answer (simply playing on the mystique of Marrakech - which is far from its Key Asian markets which is hard for the audience to verify its faf) !!

Relax, unwind & enjoy!
My husband booked a last minute suprise getaway to Morroco. It was my first time visiting & I had heard a lot about the hotels and how they aren’t really ‘5*’
But Sofitel definately lived up to the expectation! With the warm welcome, to the luxurious room. It was very clean and well maintained. The pool was clean, the pool side lunch was delicious & so were there virgin mojitos!
The only downfall was the slow service we received. We would have to wait hours (1-2) to have something delivered to the room. Also I don’t think it says it very clearly, but you have to book and pay to use the sauna room.
