Strike a Pose at Seri Gemilang Bridge – but Bring Sunscreen! 📸🌞
If you're planning a day trip to Putrajaya from KL, don’t miss out on Seri Gemilang Bridge—especially if you're into Instagram-worthy spots like me! 📷✨
Why I added it to my list:
1. I'm always on the hunt for 📸 Instagrammable locations before I travel.
2. I love the grand, elegant structure of the bridge 🏛️.
3. I was already heading to Putrajaya, so adding one more place? Why not! 😄
But heads-up:
🚫 If you're not a fan of the heat 🌡️, not into bridge architecture 🌉, or just don’t care about taking photos 🤷♂️—this might not be your scene.
For me? I had a great time soaking in the view and posing for pics 🥰.
My husband? Not so much—he became my personal photographer under the blazing sun ☀️📸😅.

Harewood House: A Grand English Estate Day Trip from York! stately home.
#summervacay
From York, you can embark on a delightful English stately home day trip to Harewood House!
Harewood House is nestled in Harewood, West Yorkshire, England. This quintessential 18th-century aristocratic estate was built between 1759 and 1771. Originally owned by Edwin Lascelles, a wealthy West Indian planter and slave owner, the Lascelles family still resides here today.
The estate is a cherished member of England's esteemed stately homes and is a Grade I listed building, signifying its exceptional architectural and historical importance.
You might recognize Harewood House from the screen, as it has served as a filming location for popular productions like the TV series Victoria and the film Downton Abbey (though it's worth noting that Downton Abbey's primary filming location is Highclere Castle, located west of London, not here).
The interior of the house beautifully preserves authentic aristocratic living spaces, including exquisite dining rooms, a library, bedrooms, and even the servants' quarters. It showcases a magnificent collection of furniture, porcelain, oil paintings, silver, and more, dating back to the 18th century, alongside some historical exhibits related to the British Royal Family – all well worth exploring!
Current Exhibition:
Austen and Turner: A Country House Encounter
Dates: May 2, 2025 - October 19, 2025
This exhibition promises an insightful glimpse into the interplay of literature and art within the grand setting of a country house.

Tianjin in one day ☀️
Amazing Sunday trip from the capital. We took the high speed train from Beijing south station for 35 min. Upon arrival we found shared bikes and started our adventure.
🏫 we had a stop at Porcelain China House - 中国陶瓷屋. We just had a quick stop.
🏟️we then biked to five Great Avenues - 五大道 wodadao. Feels a bit like French concession in Shanghai. We found a cozy cafe here and had some ice coffee in the sun.
🫓 Food, we stoped by a local shop that had beef pancakes. Not exactly local food but a popular place amongst the locals for lunch.
🪭🏮Ancient Culture Street – 古文化街. We tried a local snack here called Shuligao, a specialty snack in Tianjin. cakes of ground hazelnut steamed using the bamboo mold and then topped with different sauces. Very colorful.
🎡Tianjin Eye – 天津之眼 we biked to see the Ferris wheel up close.
Waterfront of Hai River -海河畔 we biked and partly walked a big stretch along the river. Lots of people outside enjoying their afternoon.
🌯Tianjin is famous for their Jianbing. It is said that the breakfast pancake we have all the time in Beijing has its origins from here.
⛲️ Little Europe-欧洲风情区 we briefly stoped by here just before catching the train back to Beijing.
🎫 I do recommend buying the return ticket for the train because although the train leaves every 15 min it is a popular stretch.

Christchurch Weekend Getaway: Day Trip to a Retro Town! 🚂🕰️
#summervacay
For a fun weekend outing from Christchurch, consider a day trip to the retro charm of Ferrymead Heritage Park!
Location: Ferrymead Heritage Park, Christchurch
Operating Hours: 10 AM - 4:30 PM
This park is quite expansive – not too big, not too small – and it's filled with fascinating antiques to explore. You can even ride a steam train! 🚂
When I visited, it happened to be a Public Holiday, which meant unlimited rides on the steam train! (I'll put the pricing details at the end of this post.) It's a great place to step back in time and experience a bit of history.

Just had a fantastic day trip to York! Seriously, that "ghost shop" (I assume you mean The Shambles or a specific haunted attraction/shop there?) queue was absolutely insane! The line was just wild! 😂

Shanghai to Nanxun Ancient Town Day Trip! 🎟️🛶
#summervacay
Here's your guide for a fantastic day trip to Nanxun Ancient Town from Shanghai!
Nanxun Ancient Town
From the South Gate, you can easily take the 3 JPY boat ride, which is a great way to start without retracing your steps. The ancient town isn't huge, but it's incredibly charming and full of character.
Xiaolianzhuang (Little Lotus Garden): This is one of Nanxun's must-visit spots, a private garden belonging to Liu Yong, the wealthiest of Nanxun's "Four Elephants" from the late Qing Dynasty. Xiaolianzhuang is centered around a lotus pond, with pavilions and towers built along its edges, creating truly picturesque scenery. 🌸
Jiayetang Library: The Jiayetang Library is a renowned private library from modern Chinese history, and one of the most well-preserved private libraries in China. It houses a vast collection of ancient texts and rare books, making it a wonderful place to learn about traditional Chinese culture. 📚
Baijianlou (Hundred Houses Street): Baijianlou features Nanxun Ancient Town's distinctive residential architecture, built continuously along the river – a truly magnificent sight!
Zhang Shiming's Former Residence: This was the home of Zhang Shiming, another of Nanxun's "Four Elephants." It's a fascinating blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles, combining traditional Chinese elements with European Renaissance features. 🏛️
4. Lunch
There are plenty of restaurants and snack shops within the ancient town where you can try local specialties. I highly recommend trying Nanxun Pig Knuckle (Nanxun Tipang), Xunji Noodles, and Shuangjiao Noodles. 🍜
5. Return to Shanghai
Take a long-distance bus from Nanxun Ancient Town Bus Station back to Shanghai South Station.

A Perfect Day in Paradise: Dolphins, Snorkelling & Crystal Rock in Mauritius
If you're planning a trip to Mauritius, a day sailing around Le Morne is an experience you can’t miss! I recently did this with a group of friends, and it was hands-down one of the highlights of our trip. #holidayvacation
We rented a private catamaran for the day and set sail from Black River, heading towards the iconic Le Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dramatic cliffs and turquoise waters. The views from the water are breathtaking—Le Morne rises up like something out of a movie!
🐬 Dolphins in the Wild: Not long after we left the Black River marina, we spotted wild dolphins swimming right next to our boat. Watching them glide through the water so gracefully — in their natural habitat — was one of the most beautiful travel moments I’ve had.
🤿 Snorkeling a Coral Wonderland: Our captain anchored near a reef teeming with life. The water was crystal clear, and snorkeling among colorful coral and tropical fish felt like diving into a live aquarium. Bring a GoPro if you can — it’s worth it!
🪨 Lunch with a View at Crystal Rock: We stopped by the iconic Crystal Rock, a natural rock formation that seems to float in the sea. Our crew cooked up a delicious BBQ lunch on board: grilled seafood, chicken, fresh fruit, and local Mauritian rum. Nothing beats eating with the ocean breeze and that view! #deliciousfood #localfood
✍🏼 Useful Tips for Future Travelers:
- Best Time to Go: Morning trips offer better chances of seeing dolphins, and the seas are usually calmer.
- What to Bring: Sunscreen, a hat, swimwear, a towel, and a waterproof camara.
- Book in Advance: I highly recommend to book the tour in advance. Pro-Tip: Private charters are perfect for groups!
Whether you're into marine life, water sports, or just soaking in the beauty of the Indian Ocean, a catamaran trip around Le Morne offers something for everyone.

A Hub of Disappeared Industries in Peng Chau
Although there is no official account of Peng Chau’s ancient history, it is widely believed that the earliest settlement might have taken place as early as the Tang and Song Dynasties.
Fast forward to the Qing Dynasty, Peng Chau has developed much further. At the time, the surnames of Lu, Chung and Lam settled down in the villages of Peng Chau. Booming commerce and fishing industries has made Peng Chau Bay a busy trading port. At one point during the early 20th century, Peng Chau was known for its handicrafts and industries. There were a total of eleven lime kiln factories in Peng Chau. “Lime was produced by burning oyster shells, clam shells and coral, and was widely used in construction, paper-making, dyes and ship maintenance.” (Hong Kong Tourism Board) The industry met its decline as concrete became the predominant material for building construction later in the 20th century. Finally, the largest match factory of Southeast Asia in 1973, the Great China Match Factory, also set foot in Peng Chau.
The Leather Factor of Peng Chau is a grade 3 historic building. The former factory ground comprises mostly of one-story buildings in the traditional Chinese vernacular architectural style, and spread over the Wing On Street area. The Asia Antique Arts & Ancient Porcelain Appraisal Center now stands on one of the former buildings of the leather factory.
As to My Secret Garden, it is an artistic venture of the residents of Peng Chau. They have gathered all sorts of discarded junk, and turned them into artwork for display at the garden. It is meant to be a community space with lots of colors and cheerfulness to go around.

When you think of Macau, the first thing that comes to mind is usually casinos and the spirit of Las Vegas in Asia. But in reality, this city is a true paradise for lovers of aesthetics. You’ll find Venice, Paris, and London all in one place. It was my first time in Macau, and it didn’t disappoint.
📍Here’s a list of locations:
1. Roman Amphitheatre
2. Macau Fisherman's Wharf
3. Ruins of Saint Paul's
5. Parisian Macao Eiffel Tower
6. The Londoner Macao

Spontaneous 12hrs in Amsterdam & 20km of walking 🇳🇱
After a short but sweet time in Antwerp, we made a last-minute decision to hop on an early 7 AM FlixBus to Amsterdam—because why not? The trip was short and smooth, and by the time we arrived, the city was just waking up.
🏙 First Things First: Luggage Drop & Exploring
Since we were only spending the day, we left our luggage at a locker in Amsterdam Central Station, giving us the freedom to roam around without hassle. From there, it was all about getting lost in the charm of the canals, cycling lanes, and quirky architecture.
☕ Morning Vibes: Coffee & Canals
We started the day with a coffee stop in a cozy canal-side café, soaking in the morning atmosphere. There’s something about Amsterdam’s mix of history and energy that makes every random stroll exciting.
🚲 Classic Amsterdam Moments
With limited time, we skipped the big museums and instead wandered through Jordaan and the Nine Streets—areas filled with boutique shops, charming bridges, and lots of photo-worthy spots. Even without a plan, there’s always something interesting to see, whether it's street performers, flower markets, or just people biking everywhere.
🍽 Lunch Break Before the Next Adventure
Before heading back to the station, we grabbed a quick bite—some Dutch fries with mayo and a stroopwafel for a sweet finish.
By the evening, we were back at Amsterdam Central, picking up our bags and catching another FlixBus to Ghent for the next leg of our journey.
Spontaneous trips always make the best memories, and this Amsterdam detour was 100% worth it! 🚍✨

One day trip to St Andrews
St Andrews, a town rich in history and charm, offers breathtaking views of Scotland’s coastal beauty. The first image captures the ruins of St Andrews Castle, standing defiantly against the North Sea, its weathered stone walls telling tales of medieval battles and noble residences. Waves crash against the rugged shore, adding to the dramatic scenery.
The second image takes us through an ancient arched passageway, possibly part of the remnants of St Andrews Cathedral or an old monastery. The towering stone walls frame the road, evoking a sense of timelessness as one walks through this historic path.
Finally, the third image showcases a quaint street in the heart of St Andrews. The cobbled road, lined with traditional stone houses and vintage lamp posts, exudes warmth and character. A glimpse of everyday life unfolds as two individuals step through a bright yellow door, adding a human touch to the town’s picturesque setting.

Whether you’re a history buff or simply love soaking in beautiful architecture, Lucerne Old Town is a must-visit for anyone exploring Switzerland!
