Historic castle in the heart of Verona with a medieval walking bridge
#aprilblooms
The Castelvecchio complex in Verona is a striking example of #medieval architecture, characterized by its robust red brick construction and imposing presence. The fortress itself features sturdy walls and multiple towers. Inside it you can find a museum of medieval #art. A now-dry ditch once surrounded the structure, highlighting its strategic design.✨
Connecting to the castle is the Scaliger #bridge, a marvel of 14th-century engineering. Built primarily of red Veronese brick with lower sections of white marble, the bridge showcases elegant, sloping arches, the largest of which was a record-breaking span at the time of its construction. It stretces over the Adige River, where you can see the first groups of boats floating under the bridge at this time of the year. ✨
The Medici's Florence
It's often said that Florence is the most beautiful city in Italy. I wouldn't challenge this opinion because it's a real gem. The old city is well defined between the river, the bridges and the train station. It's very easy to navigate but sometimes is a little overcrowded. Whatever you see around was probably built by someone from the Medici family. I recommend you to hire a guide, because every corner is full of history, art and legends. It makes difference to know what you are actually watching 🤓

🇵🇹 Évora Aqueduct
The Évora Aqueduct (Aqueduto da Água de Prata) is an impressive historical structure located in the city of Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Portugal. It was built in the 16th century to supply fresh water to the city, which often faced droughts. The aqueduct extends for about 18 kilometers from its source to Évora.
What makes the Évora Aqueduct particularly unique is that it integrates into the city’s architecture. Within the city walls, houses, shops, and other buildings are constructed beneath and alongside the aqueduct's arches, blending the functional structure with urban life.

Bruges in 2 days is the perfect addition to any trip throughout Europe.
The good thing about this small city, is that you can walk everywhere or even for relaxing by renting a bike.
If you want to enjoy warmer weather with lots of sunshine, head there in the summer. The best time to go to is between June and August, which has an average temperature of 18°C with highs of 21°C.
Suggested Locations in Bruges
Meebrug Bridge: The best place to go for an unparalleled view of the city's medieval buildings and picturesque canals. Bonifacius Bridge: Best for romantic views of the city and the perfect spot for a surprise engagement.
Begijnhof: A hidden gem that offers a glimpse into Bruges' spiritual and historical heritage.
History: The Romans had built a road on the sand ridge bordering the coastal plain as part of a wider road network. Present-day Bruges arose exactly at the place where this road met the Reie: Burg Square. At the beginning of the 9th century, a simple fortress stood here as part of a coastal defence against the Vikings.
International merchants built up Bruges into one of the largest Hanseatic cities. In the 15th century, the city flourished as never before. Large parts of the medieval heritage remained practically intact.
At night The glassy water reflects the streetlights and fairy-tale architecture making Bruges picture perfect, all night long
Spoken language: native Flemish but all of people also speck a fluent english.
Currency: euro
Price per day on holiday: about 80 to 100 € per person

🇵🇹 Well preserved Evora Old Town, Portugal
Evora is the capital of Portugal's south-central Alentejo region. It was incribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. The city's historic centre is small enough to be explored on foot. You can start exploring from Giraldo Square (Praça do Giraldo), the main square in Évora surrounded by notable landmarks, historic buildings, shops, cafes, and restaurants. You certainly won't miss the landmarks such as the ancient Roman Temple of Évora (also called the Temple of Diana) from 1st century, Cathedral of Évora from 12th century and also spectacular stone aqueduct that borders the old town from the 16th century. I like the old town centre as it is well-preserved. You can see a lot of medieval walls amidst the new buildings.

The most beautiful city in Switzerland.
Visiting Lucerne was like stepping into a fairytale. The preserved medieval architecture against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains and Lake Lucerne created a mesmerizing scene. Wandering through the ancient town, I marveled at the blend of history and modernity. The ramparts, quaint pubs, and stylish hotels of the Belle Époque added to the city's charm.
The deep blue lake mirrored the grandiose mountains, enhancing the romantic atmosphere. Everywhere I looked, there was beauty and elegance. Whether strolling along the lakefront promenade or exploring the narrow cobblestone streets of the old town, Lucerne captivated me with its timeless allure. It's a place where history comes alive, and every corner holds a story waiting to be discovered.

Ancient Roman City of Trier, Germany
Trier, which is in southwest Germany and close to Luxembourg, is the oldest city in Germany and was an important administrative center for the Western Roman Empire.
The city is very walkable, and I was able to get everywhere on foot with the help of Google Maps. A full, packed day is enough to cover the major sites and take in the many fascinating ancient Roman ruins. I managed to tour the Porta Nigra, which was a city gate and later a church, the Trier Imperial Baths, Trier Amphitheater (used for gladiator events in Roman times), Trier Cathedral, and the Electoral Palace.
Trier is a must-visit for European history buffs and UNESCO World Heritage site lovers!

This castle has also gained its popularity due to the Disney story called sleeping beauty which inspired that show.

The Town Of Alsace - A old medieval village
Eguisheim, a town right after Colmar, like a 10mins drive is another medieval village in the popular Alsace wine region. You will be able to against see the cobbled streets but the difference here are the really narrow streets with the well mantaoned timber houses at each side of the street reminding me of Italy or like games like counter strike where there are so many narrow allies everywhere.
As now in August - September fall period the weather is perfect, dry crisp air, no rain, making every spot a perfect photoshot especially when the sun shines into the town at a angle. And of course if you are a wine lover, so visit one of the many wines located all around Eguisheim as you will notice there are many vineyards located outside of this quiet little town.
At night, when the sun sets, the streets light up make this another picture perfect spot where the canels reflects the lights and the medieval buildings making this also one instaworthy romantic scenic photo spot!

After visiting Kaysersberg, a short 15mins drive you will arrive into the town of Colmar where this is nearer to the border of Germany where you be able to again see the many well mantained cobbled streets and timbered like medieval houses throughout the entire town.
One of the touristy attraction thing to do js to sit the boat trips in the lauch river where this is a guided boat ride who will guide you along the river and he will also command you to bend or hide whenever it goes under a bridge, much fun really! This boat ride will roughly takes you about 30mins or so, but in this cooling fall weather, I don't see why not right!
Also, there is this restaurant called La Soi, which thankfully we manage to get a booking, they serve this really thin crust pizza called tarte, which is their popular dish to order. Do give it a try when you are around the area, a much interesting scenic historical city with friendly peeps everywhere!
