Visiting Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple, was easily one of the most surreal and visually striking experiences during our trip to northern Thailand. The moment we laid eyes on the temple, it felt like we had stepped into a fantasy. The entire structure gleamed under the sun—pure white, with intricate carvings and shimmering mirror mosaics that sparkled from every angle. Crossing the bridge toward the main building was an experience in itself. Beneath the walkway, hundreds of sculpted hands reached out in eerie stillness, symbolizing human desire and suffering. The bridge, representing the path to enlightenment, was lined with symbolism that made us pause and reflect before even entering the temple. Inside the main hall, we were surprised to find modern pop culture references integrated into the wall murals—characters like Superman and Neo from The Matrix, alongside symbolic imagery of disasters and chaos. Somehow, it worked. It felt like a commentary on the conflict between spiritual awakening and worldly distractions. Outside, the golden restroom building stood in stark contrast to the all-white temple—a reminder of materialism versus purity, cleverly designed to reflect the deeper message behind the entire experience. The temple grounds also featured a wishing well, small sculptures, and a peaceful garden space. We even browsed the adjacent art gallery by the temple’s creator, Chalermchai Kositpipat. It’s best to visit in the morning to beat the crowds and catch the temple glowing in the soft sunlight. Modest attire is required, and photography is allowed outside but not inside the main hall. Wat Rong Khun is not your typical temple—it’s part spiritual journey, part modern art gallery, and completely unforgettable. It challenged us to think deeper while dazzling our senses. Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort Le Meridien Chiang Rai Review A luxury resort in Chiang Rai on the banks of the Kok River Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort This time, we will take everyone to visit Chiang Rai and sleep in a beautiful accommodation on the banks of the Kok River. The design here is excellent, it is contemporary, combining Lanna with modern European style, perfectly perfect. The atmosphere is also shady, there are 2 large crabapple trees that are over 100 years old. They have 3 types of rooms to choose from, and the 2 of us stayed in a Grand Deluxe room, which was very large and magnificent. There was a balcony with a view of the swimming pool and the Kok River. There was a sofa, a work desk, and a walk-in closet. Another finale is the outdoor infinity pool next to the large pond in the hotel. Looking to the right, you can also see the Kok River. The large pool has levels from shallow to deep. In the evening, come and relax at Favola Restaurant, an Italian-style restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating next to the river. The evening light from here is stunningly beautiful, you will have to exclaim in amazement. This time, they have a set of evening picnics. It comes in the concept of "Au Soleil" because summer is endless. We will experience and immerse ourselves in the beautiful season. The hotel will give everyone happiness and an impression of traveling for sure. And that's not all. The breakfast here is excellent. Out of 10, I'd give it 100. They have local food. We dropped by Life Museum early in the morning before heading back to Chiang Mai. It’s actually a coffee shop, not a museum 😆 and was just a short drive 5-10 min from where we stayed at Yamee Homestay. Unfortunately… coffee not available yet when we got there (too early, I guess 😂), so no coffee fix for us. But we hung around a bit to take some pictures because the spot itself is actually really scenic. The view is meant to be a breathtaking shot of two mountains 🌄🌄—but since it was crop burning season, everything was hazy and covered in air pollution 😷. A bit of a letdown, but we could still imagine how amazing it would look on a clear day! One of the highlights of my Chiang Rai trip was definitely visiting Wat Rong Suea Ten, also known as the Blue Temple. The moment I arrived, I was blown away by the vibrant blue color of the entire temple—it’s so unique and absolutely stunning in person! ✨ The details here are incredible. From the golden accents to the beautiful, modern murals inside, everything feels so fresh and different from the usual temples I’ve seen. I really loved the big white Buddha statue sitting calmly in the middle—it gave me such a peaceful vibe. 🕊️ I went in the morning when it wasn’t too crowded, which was perfect for enjoying the place and snapping lots of photos 📸. The temple isn’t very big, so you can comfortably walk around and explore in about 30–45 minutes. Don’t forget to dress modestly—shoulders and knees covered. If you forget, they have wraps you can borrow at the entrance. Also, there are cute little stalls outside selling drinks and local snacks, and I had the best butterfly pea ice cream there! 🍦💙 If you’re in Chiang Rai, I totally recommend making a quick stop here. It’s an easy ride from the city and you can even combine it with the White Temple and the Black House for a full day of temple hopping. The moment I held out the food, all the sheep came rushing toward me like I was their favorite person ever 😂💕. It was such a cute and funny scene — surrounded by fluffy friends, all eager for a bite. If you're visiting Chiang Rai, Wat Huay Pla Kang is a must-see! It’s a peaceful temple complex with a huge white statue of Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy, standing tall on a hill. You can even take an elevator up inside the statue—the view from the top is totally worth it! 🌄 The atmosphere here is super calm and refreshing, not overly crowded when I went. There’s also a beautiful 9-storey pagoda nearby that adds even more charm to the place. Whether you're into taking photos or just enjoying a quiet moment, this place has something special. ✨ Tip: Late afternoon is the best time to go—not too hot and the lighting is soft for pictures.
