🔥 Chu Roast Bangkok – Local-Style Char Siew & Comforting Wontons
Recommended by a friend, we made our way to Chu Roast in Bangkok to give it a try. The place was bustling during peak lunch hour and seating was limited, so we had to queue for a bit before being seated — a testament to its popularity.
We went for all the signature dishes: char siew, wontons, and soy chicken.
• The char siew had a nice sweetness and tender texture, but I personally would have preferred a stronger charred or smoky edge for more depth.
• The wontons were generously filled and juicy — definitely a highlight of the meal.
• The soy chicken was decent, but we found the marinade didn’t fully infuse the meat, resulting in a slightly bland experience.
The dining space is quite compact, and we noticed a steady stream of takeaway orders — possibly a better option if you’re in a rush. Taste-wise, the char siew leans more toward the Thai-style interpretation rather than the traditional Cantonese version, so that’s something to keep in mind depending on your preference.
⸻
⭐ Highlights:
• Wontons: Big, meaty, and flavorful
• Thai-style char siew with a sweet glaze
• Popular lunch spot with limited seating
• Good for takeaway

🥐 Global Flavours, Local Warmth – Breakfast Bliss at Twenty-Seven Bites 🍳
If you’re staying at the Radisson Blu Plaza Bangkok, don’t skip the breakfast buffet at Twenty-Seven Bites Brasserie—it’s an experience that truly raises the bar for hotel dining.
We had breakfast here and were genuinely impressed by the sheer variety and quality of dishes available. The spread caters to every palate, featuring a well-curated selection of global cuisines including:
• Indian: Fragrant curries, dosas, and chutneys
• Chinese: Dim sum and congee with all the right toppings
• Thai: Local noodles and spicy dishes done right
• Western: Eggs made to order, crispy bacon, pastries, cheeses, and more
The presentation of the buffet line was outstanding—beautifully laid out and constantly replenished (refer to photos if you have them, they speak for themselves). The coffee was brewed fresh by the cup, which was a major plus for us caffeine lovers.
And just as impressive as the food was the warm, attentive service from the staff. They were proactive, polite, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
🍽️ Final Verdict
One of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve had in Bangkok, only rivaled by Sofitel nearby. Whether you’re staying at the hotel or simply looking for a stellar breakfast spot, Twenty-Seven Bites Brasserie absolutely delivers.
