Tucked into a quiet corner at Lot 8, Lorong Panggung, ManisKL isn’t just a café—it’s a refuge for the overheated, the sweet-toothed, and the aesthetically inclined. The first spoonful of chilled dessert melted not just the ice but the tension of a tropical afternoon. Think silky textures, bold local flavors, and plates that arrive like art. Sago gula melaka, cendol tiramisu, and a vibrant mango sago—each dish a love letter to Malaysian heritage with a modern, minimalist soul. The interiors are cool and calm, soft with terrazzo and wood, an oasis amid KL’s urban pulse. It’s the kind of place you find by accident and return to with intention. Manis doesn’t shout. So you can get the best of both worlds by purchasing an antique item after dining in. It attracts lots of foreigners and they get to experience the taste of vintage Malaysia for a while. Rotorua is an adorable little lakeside town in the north island of New Zealand, we stopped off for 48 hours on our roadtrip around the island. The town feels like an old school American town with tree lined streets full of little shops with awnings, it has very laidback atmosphere and reminds me of island life in the Caribbean isles. We stayed in an air b&b in the suburbs but walked into town each day, the walk is quick and the roads are relatively quiet. The town itself is great for a few days to recharge, lots of cafes and gift shops along with a beautifully laid out central area with street art and art installations. In the summer evening the prominent venues are lit up and the ‘eating street’ is a bustling row of restaurants with lots of choice! We stopped off for desert and had incredible ice cream and brownies a Lady Jane Ice Cream parlour. Just outside town there’s an amazing place called the secret spot, a small cafe with spa baths for your feet. There’s no charge for the spa baths at the table, just pay for a coffee and get comfortable! A highlight for me was all the vintage and charity shops, so many bargains and an amazing range of vintage books and music. Well worth a look! Every time I pass by J.Chen Apt on the corner of Minsheng East Road, I always feel that this place is like a mysterious corner in a European storybook. This four-story space was built by the owner James himself, and each floor has its own characteristics - from the coffee shop on the first floor, the boutique second-hand goods on the second floor, to the art and cultural exhibition space on the third floor, every time you walk up a floor, you can't help but Wow! This place has western coffee. It was done properly and a friend had recommended. It's got a nice vibe too, the vintage and antique decor makes it kind of cozy. The crowd was mostly travelelers or expats with an ocassional local or two. The service was efficient. In the menu we found several varieties of coffee including some single origin. This was an interesting recommendation from a Vietnamese friend. It has this antique decor which is refreshing. The menu was great and our food was mostly delicious. We ended up visiting the place twice due to its cost effectiveness as well. The menu offers a delightful selection of healthy dishes and drinks, perfect for a leisurely brunch. The atmosphere of the cafe was impressive, with tasteful decor and a nice outdoor area. Having the original cafe there as a showroom was a nice touch. I had two types of coffee, french toast, sandwiches, and dessert. I don't remember the exact names but everything was really nice, and relaxing, precisely what I needed on a hot day. This was dine in with reservation. I quite liked what I had seen in pictures. I felt it would be a welcomed change compared to the repetitive cafe like or concrete themed design scape in Bangkok. And to a great extent it was, the space is covered with antiques and vintage pieces. Lots of things on display with well okay prices in some cases and expensive for most. More than the dinner, exploring the space took my attention. The food for how it tasted was good. It may have been priced slightly more expensive than it should have. I mean our order of pasta, feta Salad, grilled fish and cake was no Italian miracle. But it was decent and a nice change from Thai food that I had been eating continously in the past couple of days. This coffee shop owes its popularity to social media. The cvintage aesthetics are so pleasant on the eyes. They have old things places all across the coffee shop. The shop space is located in a small and peaceful alley. They also have a bakery opposite, which features a cozy ambiance and good-looking yet tasty pastries. I got a takeway from there and was surprised how good it tasted. I had a very peaceful time here trying the cake and coffee. My friends tried their latte and cinnamon coffee. I love Al Seef Heritage by Hilton! From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were transported to a world straight out of the Aladdin movie. The old Dubai style was simply breathtaking. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel relaxed and refreshed, offering us a cold hibiscus drink and a chilled towel to beat the heat. The personal cabby service to our building was a delightful surprise, and we were amazed to see the entire complex is part of the Al Seef hotel. The room was nothing short of stunning, with a vintage charm that made it hard to leave the incredibly comfortable bed. A special shout-out to our favorite staff member Ceasar, who made our stay even more memorable. The complimentary cabby service that took us around Al Seef was the icing on the cake. We can't wait to come back in the winter to fully immerse ourselves in the magic of this place. I strongly advise against visiting during the scorching summer months, as it might not do justice to the old Dubai experience. All in all, our stay was simply fantastic! The walls decorated fully with unique vintage items, for collectors and appreciators of vintage items this is cafe heaven. They also serve a lot of good food with many options. One of the top items was the golden bistro ball in sauce. It was so good i forgot to snap a picture!!! With it we had quesadilla, big breakfast, and the high tea set. All of which were decent. As someone who loves taking trams, how could I miss taking Lisbon's iconic vintage tram 28? The tram route offers scenic views of Lisbon's historic architecture, narrow streets, and picturesque neighbourhoods. Tram 28 navigates narrow and hilly streets, providing a unique and somewhat challenging ride. It runs from Martim Moniz to Campo Ourique (Prazeres) in about 1 hour depending on traffic conditions. We tried taking it several times when we were in Lisbon. We didn't manage to take it the first time as the service was disrupted due to a flood. We managed to take the tram on another day from Martim Moniz but had to alight halfway as the tram track was blocked by illegally parked vehicles. On our third attempt we took the tram from another terminal Campo Ourique (Prazeres) and rode all the way to Martim Moniz. The tram is usually very crowded with locals and tourists so if you want a seat it's better to board at the first stop.
