This time, we went to Taiwan with the intention of taking it easy! A laid-back trip with light shopping, heavy eating, and a flexible itinerary that covers everything. Most importantly, the food was amazing, especially the spicy mala dishes! --- DAY 1 – Arrival in Taipei: Landmark Highlights + Strolling in Ximending After landing at the airport, we headed into the city and checked in. We started the day with a visit to Taipei 101, taking photos of the iconic skyscraper, browsing shops in the mall, and doing some light shopping. The atmosphere was great. In the evening, we strolled through Ximending Night Market, which was packed with food options. Despite the crowd, it didn’t feel overwhelming. Must-try items include bubble tea, fried chicken, and grilled meatballs! Dinner: We went all out at TAKEMURA IZAKAYA, a Japanese izakaya in Taipei. The food was delicious, the ambiance was fantastic, and it felt authentically Japanese. Highly recommended for sashimi lovers. --- DAY 2 – Spiritual and Natural Escapes We started the day at Longshan Temple, a famous temple in Taipei frequented by locals. After paying respects, we leisurely explored the surrounding area. Next, we ventured out of the city to Zhengbin Fishing Port Harbor, also known as the Rainbow Harbor. The colorful houses lining the harbor made for stunning photos, like scenes straight out of a postcard. Dinner: Our first mala hotpot experience was at Delectable Hotpot. The broth was aromatic and perfectly spicy, with plenty of ingredients and an exceptional dipping sauce! --- DAY 3 – Mountain Views and Vintage Charm We dedicated the entire day to Jiufen Old Street, a charming mountain village with a nostalgic vibe. We enjoyed local delicacies like Taiwanese glutinous rice balls, traditional milk tea, and tea house experiences. The mountain and sea views were breathtaking, reminiscent of scenes from "Spirited Away." Dinner: On the way back, we indulged in our second round of mala hotpot at Xin Mala Hotpot. Vibes is a hidden bar under the Wonstar Hotel in the Ximending area. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is extremely friendly. It's perfect for a date with your partner or a chill night out with your girlfriends. The bar offers a variety of interesting cocktails. We ordered a total of 4 glasses and a shot with pearls. The design is excellent. Cocktails start at 200 baht, and just two glasses can get you quite tipsy. Highly recommended for those who love to drink and relax.

If you have 5 days in Taipei, here something you can do: Day1: Arrived at Taipei Taoyuan Airport in the morning, take trains to Taipei Station, have breakfast and walking trip under street of Taipei Station, take train to 101 Tower, then go to Xi Men Ding district to eat and shopping, at the evening check in hotel and go to Shilin Night Market to have dinner. Day 2: JiuFen Shifen Trip. Suggest to go to JiuFen first (top of hill) as this location is harder to get public transport in the evening. At JiuFen you can enjoy nice meal and do some shopping here. Then you can headed to Shifen. If you want to to visit waterfall you can go earlier other wise come to Shifen railway station during evening is nice to light up the sky lantern with your wishes and send to the air. At night, Jilong Night Market have the best food you can taste. Day 3: Today is hot spring spa day, Beitou district day. Here you can have a nice walk with the local morning market, public library, spa museum, and highly recommend to pick a nice place for spa. I picked Huang Chi Spa / Emperor Spa as they have a unique natural hot spring with natural radium mineral from underground volcanic. Then at night, can visit Raohe St. Night Market, which is the oldest and unique night market for good food. Day 4: Is Tamsui district day. Is a very relax walk by the famous Fisherman’s Wharf harbour. Enjoy some local delicacies, shopping for souvenirs and enjoy your walk along the riverbanks. At night can go to Ningxia night market for food. Day 5: the last day if your flight at evening or night, you can do some final shopping at WuFenPu near the city. This Western-style structure and its surrounding square in Ximending, built by the Japanese in 1908, is home to Taipei's creative and culture business, presenting exhibitions and performances. Originally established to serve as the first government-operated public-run market, the complex is now designated and conserved as a municipal heritage property. The structure has an octagonal entrance and a cross-shaped floor plan where merchants can display their wares. It's not easy or difficult to claw machines. It's fun. Score - 8/10 Most of the shops don't have people to help you pose. 2. Raohe Night Market Address - In Raohe Night Market Highlight - The food is very delicious. After eating, we continue to claw machines. Score - 7/10 There aren't many claw machines. Mostly game shops 3. Beimen Station Address - In Beimen Station underground Highlights - Lots of claw machines and model shops. A rare find in taipei ximending area. This cafe is really pretty and instagramble. Very unique ordering system where guest choose their food items from the postcard wall outside the shop. The shop also provide mailing service of the postcards to the future. The food were decent but on a higher price. However the atmosphere and vibes of the cafe really made the trip worth it.
