From the Bund to the French Concession in One Weekend
Shanghai is a fantastic city for a weekend trip — full of energy, culture, and amazing views. If you’re visiting for just a couple of days, there are a few must-do things that really make the experience special.
A walk along the #Bund during the day is a great way to take in the city’s mix of historic and modern architecture, with the #HuangpuRiver and skyline creating a truly iconic view. It’s also perfect for photos and just soaking up the atmosphere.
Another must-see area is the #FormerFrenchConcession. With its tree-lined streets, charming old buildings, boutique shops, and cozy cafés, it offers a completely different vibe from the high-rise modernity of #Pudong. It’s a great place to relax, explore on foot, and feel a bit of Shanghai’s old-world charm.
In the evening, make sure to check out the #rooftopbar at the top of #CaptainHostel. It’s not very expensive, but the view is absolutely stunning — you get a panoramic look at the Pudong skyline lit up at night. It’s a great spot for a drink and to enjoy the city from above.

Where Time Meets the Skyline: A Stroll Along The Bund in Shanghai
#discoverchina
Along the western bank of the Huangpu River lies one of Shanghai’s most iconic treasures—The Bund. It’s more than just a waterfront promenade; it’s a living timeline of the city’s evolution, where colonial-era architecture and futuristic skyscrapers face each other across the river in poetic contrast. Walking here feels like stepping through layers of history, each building echoing tales of old-world glamour, trade, and transformation.
As you stroll the length of The Bund, you’re surrounded by stately structures that speak of 1920s elegance—banks, consulates, and clubs that once buzzed with the elite of East and West. Their European-inspired facades stand tall in calm confidence, whispering of Shanghai’s storied past. Turn your gaze across the water, and you’re met with the luminous skyline of Pudong—where the towering Shanghai Tower, Jin Mao, and the Oriental Pearl stand like beacons of modern ambition.
In springtime, this walk becomes even more enchanting. The soft glow of the afternoon sun bathes the buildings in golden hues, and the breeze off the river carries the fresh scent of the season. Locals relax on benches, couples snap portraits against the city’s iconic backdrop, and boats drift by, painting scenes that feel almost cinematic.
The Bund is where Shanghai’s past and future meet—a place to admire, reflect, and fall in love with the city’s unique rhythm. Whether you’re watching the skyline light up at dusk or enjoying a sunrise jog along the water, The Bund promises a view—and a feeling—you’ll never forget.

As the sun began to set and the city's lights flickered on, the river took on a serene glow, reflecting the vibrant lights of the towering skyscrapers that lined the water’s edge.
The view from the boat was nothing short of spectacular. On one side, the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower stood proudly, its colorful lights creating a stunning display. On the other, the impressive cluster of modern glass-and-steel skyscrapers like the Shanghai Tower and Jin Mao Tower loomed over the city, their towering presence highlighted by the soft illumination of evening.
As the boat drifted along the river, the twinkling lights from both the Bund and the Pudong area created a perfect contrast of old-world charm and futuristic brilliance. Shanghai Tower: 118th Floor Sky High Views
#chinatrip
On my recent trip to Shanghai, I visited the 118th floor of the Shanghai Tower, and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. As the world’s second-tallest building, the Shanghai Tower offers panoramic views that are simply breathtaking. The high-speed elevator ride to the observation deck was thrilling, taking just seconds to ascend the towering structure.
Once at the top, I was greeted by a stunning 360-degree view of Shanghai’s sprawling skyline, the winding Huangpu River, and the bustling city below. The sheer height and clarity of the views made it feel like I was floating above the city.
The observation deck also had informative displays about the tower’s engineering marvels and Shanghai’s history, enriching the experience. Watching the sunset from this vantage point, with the city lights flickering to life, was a highlight of my trip.
