Visited Pe Aor Tom Yum Kung Noodle with a group of friends after one of them raved about the place—and I’m glad we did. The star of the show here is without a doubt the tom yum noodles. The broth was an explosion of flavours—sour, sweet, and savoury—balanced in perfect harmony. Every mouthful felt like a mini firework show on the palate. The seafood was fresh and generous, which really elevated the dish. We also ordered a few side dishes to share, and while they were good, the tom yum still stole the spotlight. The shop itself was small and humble, not the kind you’d expect such a culinary punch from—except for the huge lobster statue standing guard at the entrance, giving away a hint of what’s to come. Prices were reasonable especially considering the freshness of the seafood used. While exploring Awaji Island, the family dropped into Yakiniku Ushijima for lunch—completely unplanned, but it turned out to be a fantastic surprise. We ordered their special wagyu beef bowl, and it was every bit luxurious—topped with gold flakes, beautifully marbled, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. The beef innards bowl was also impressive—rich in flavour yet clean-tasting, with no unpleasant gaminess at all. Service was attentive and the whole meal felt refined yet relaxed. A Happy Pancake is truly a hidden gem by the seaside. The cafe is beautifully designed, offering not just delicious pancakes but also a scenic and relaxing atmosphere. The moment we arrived, we were drawn to the charming bell tower facing the sea—perfect for photos, and it adds a magical touch to the location. There’s parking available just across the cafe, which made access very convenient. The only downside was the long queue, but I suppose that’s a sign of how popular and well-loved this place is. The wait was definitely worth it once we got seated and enjoyed their signature fluffy pancakes in a gorgeous coastal setting.
