When I landed in China in November 2022, the pandemic was still shaping the way we traveled. My quarantine at the Espring Hotel in Guangzhou was a mix of isolation and reflection. The hotel room became my little world for those days. Though confined, I found comfort in the routine provided – daily temperature checks, meals left outside my door, and the occasional wave from staff dressed in protective gear. It wasn’t easy being away from people, but I used the time to focus on myself, catching up on reading and thinking about the journey ahead.
