Kyoto in a Day: Scenic, Sweet & So Worth It
Took the train from Osaka and got off at Hankyu Arashiyama Station—hello, Kyoto vibes! The area was full of charm, with scenic streets and peaceful energy all around.
I strolled through Arashiyama, treated myself to a creamy matcha ice cream, and bought a cute little kimono keychain as a souvenir. Couldn’t resist hopping on a traditional rickshaw ride (jinrikisha)—such a fun way to see the sights while chilling like a VIP!
Just me, beautiful streets, and Kyoto magic in every corner. Slow travel hits different here.

Lost in the Bamboo Sauce: A Stroll Through Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
Took a little escape from Kyoto city vibes and wandered straight into a scene from a Studio Ghibli movie — aka Arashiyama Bamboo Forest. Let me tell you… it’s tall, it’s green, it’s peaceful, and it whispers to your soul (and your Instagram feed).
Was I just walking through bamboo? Yes.
Did I suddenly feel like a meditating samurai with deep thoughts and a camera roll full of blurry trees? Also yes.
📍 Arashiyama Bamboo Grove – Kyoto, Japan

From Kyoto Station:
Take the JR Sagano Line to Saga-Arashiyama Station (about 15 mins), then walk 10 mins to the forest.
Alternatively:
Hop on the Hankyu Line to Arashiyama Station if coming from central Kyoto.
📸 Instagram Rating:
12/10 — the light filtering through the towering bamboo is basically a free filter. Just try not to photobomb someone’s travel proposal.
🌿 Bonus Nearby Spots:
Togetsukyo Bridge – a lovely stroll and iconic photo opp
Iwatayama Monkey Park – hike up and hang out with some chill monkeys
Tenryu-ji Temple – stunning Zen garden with major tranquility vibes
Bamboo Soft Cream – yes, bamboo ice cream is a thing, and yes, it’s surprisingly good
Pro Tip:
Wear comfy shoes, bring a wide-angle lens (or your best phone camera), and practice your “serene wanderer” look.
Arashiyama isn’t just a forest — it’s a full-on vibe. You don’t just walk through bamboo here. You float. You breathe. You maybe even rethink your whole life (and then go get matcha soft serve).

Unwind at Yuda Onsen’s Secret Spot
#summervacay
Kitsune no Ashiato, within walking distance from Yuda Onsen JR station, is another gem in this area. We paid ¥200 for the footpath, which included towel disposal. We also got to wear traditional kimonos for free, which added to the experience. We wore them during our foot bath session, and it was a lovely touch. We ordered a set menu consisting of coffee, pudding, etc. – the coffee was a fox-themed drink, which was iconic of Yuda Onsen and so cute. Everything was delicious. There's an indoor and outdoor footpath area, and we tried both. We had dessert at the indoor footpath and then went outdoors. Your feet will feel very smooth after the bath. It's a unique experience, and the price is cheap. The dessert was superb – must-try if you're in the area; you won’t regret it.
