Black Rocks, Presque Isle Park, Marquette, MI, USA Nestled along a 323 acre forested peninsula which extends into the water of Lake Superior, the Black Rocks offer absolutely beautiful views of the water. The Black Rocks are estimated to be 1.7 billion years old and are formed along the shores of Lake Superior on the Isle. They are primarily composed of a type of igneous rock called basalt. Basalt forms from the rapid cooling of lava flows, which occurred during volcanic activity millions of years ago in the region. The contrast of the dark basalt against the blue waters of Lake Superior creates a picturesque landscape. Enjoy hiking along the rocks and watching people jump off the edges of some of the bigger cliffs into the cold water. It's definitely a popular spot for the locals to cool down. Finally got to come to this place after about half a year later! Came here last July but it was raining, my family and I couldn't do much but make a U-turn even after a long 2 hours ride from Osaka. There are a few major golf courses here on Bali. We decided to golf at two of those, named Handara Golf Course and New Kuta Golf Course. I will make another post for the Handara Golf Course, because that one is special in its self. The New Kuta Golf Course is located on the west side of Uluwatu, on top of the cliffs. The high numbered holes go right up to the edge and the view is stunning. Although quite pricey, the course has good greens and as I mentioned, playing with such a view is the dream of a golfer. We tried 18 holes which included a caddy and it was very much fun. If you are taking public transportation to there, you may take buses from Brighton to seven Sisters Country Park and walk through the park to the beaches.
