After Hainan was liberated in 1950, the Ya County People's Government was located in Yacheng Academy. After the Ya County People's Government moved to Sanya in 1954, Yacheng Academy was used by Yacheng Town Government until it moved out in 1990. On November 2, 1994, Yacheng Academy was announced as the first batch of Hainan Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units. In 2004, the Sanya Municipal Government allocated 1 million yuan to renovate Yacheng Academy. In 2007, Yacheng Academy was opened to the public. The east side of Tianya Stone is engraved with the word "Tianya" written by Cheng Zhe, the governor of Yazhou in the 11th year of Yongzheng's reign; the word "Haijiao" on Haijiao Stone was engraved by Wang Yi, a major general of the Kuomintang who was recently transferred to the commander of the Qiongya Garrison Command on January 8, 1939. There is a Nantian Pillar Stone on the east side of Tianya Haijiao Stone, and the words on it were written by Fan Yunti of Yong'an in the first year of Xuantong. The entire Tianya Haijiao Scenic Area is full of strange rocks, and there are many relics of literati and poets on it, most of which were written by officials who were exiled here in the past dynasties. The beach in the entire scenic area stretches for several kilometers, and there are many shellfish washed up on the beach. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and the Hong Kong Comics and Animation Association, co-organized by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Office, launched the "Comics for All - Humorous Hong Kong Comics" exhibition. The exhibition will run from May 21 to March 9 next year and admission is free. The exhibition presents the inspiration and artistic characteristics of local cartoonists through manuscripts, comic books, themed products, art installations and multimedia projects related to Hong Kong humorous comics, and revisits important humorous comic works that have accompanied readers' growth from the 1950s to the present. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition on May 20, the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Ms Chan Wing-man, said that Hong Kong is a melting pot of Chinese and Western cultures and its city life is colourful, providing rich themes for comic creation. Hong Kong's humorous comics are unique and popular among readers at home and abroad. They have also spawned cultural and creative products such as movies, toys, stationery and model decorations, which are the best proof of Hong Kong's cultural soft power. The president of the Hong Kong Comics and Animation Association, Wong Yuk-long, said that this exhibition is a testimony to the inheritance of Hong Kong comics pop culture.
