Pyramid of the Sun Pirámide del Sol… Mexico City
#Overseas travel #Mexico travel #Mexico City #Mexico pyramids
The Pyramid of the Sun (Pirámide del Sol) is an ancient Mesoamerican civilization site located in Teotihuacan, Mexico. Built around 200 AD, the pyramid is about 65 meters high and has a base area of about 220 x 230 meters, making it one of the largest pyramids in Mexico. It is mainly made of earth and stone, and is believed to have been used for religious ceremonies related to sun worship. The pyramid served as the center of the Teotihuacan civilization and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is still visited by many tourists.
The Pyramids of Mexico
When I first encountered the Pyramid of the Sun, I felt a breathtaking sense of awe at its immense scale and overwhelming presence. Even from a distance, its grandeur was evident, but as I got closer, the greatness of the ancient Teotihuacanos who built this pyramid became even more vivid. Thinking about how the ancient people constructed this massive structure with simple tools makes one imagine the depth of their skills and faith. Climbing the steps of the pyramid along the Avenue of the Dead felt like a journey back in time with each step. As I ascended the steps, the view of Teotihuacan unfolding behind me gave the illusion of the ancient city coming back to life. When I reached the top and stood where the ancient temple once was, looking around, I could almost envision the rituals and ceremonies that might have taken place here. The vast plains and other ruins visible from the top of the pyramid remind us that this was not just a city but a religious center of ancient Mesoamerica. Although now filled with tourists, standing here still allows one to feel the serene and mysterious atmosphere of the past. The experience of climbing the Pyramid of the Sun was not just a simple impression but a profound reverence and respect for the great heritage achieved by humanity. This pyramid is more than just a historical site; it remains a special place where one can feel the deep mysteries of human history. Even after visiting once, the memory lingers long in the heart, making it a place one wishes to return to again and again.
The Pyramid of the Moon in the Distance...
After passing the Pyramid of the Sun and arriving at the Pyramid of the Moon, I felt the mystery of Teotihuacan deepen even further. While the Pyramid of the Sun overwhelms with its massive scale, the Pyramid of the Moon captivates with its intricate positioning and layout. The scene of the two pyramids facing each other, connected by the Avenue of the Dead, gives the impression that this ancient city is still alive and breathing. The Pyramid of the Moon is smaller than the Pyramid of the Sun, but it has its own unique charm. Standing at the top of the pyramid and looking around, you can see the entire panorama of Teotihuacan, revealing how meticulously planned this city was. Standing here, you naturally imagine what the ancient people saw and what rituals they performed in this place. If the Pyramid of the Sun is a great architectural legacy of humanity, the Pyramid of the Moon captures the heart with its deep spirituality and mystery. After experiencing both pyramids, the complex and enigmatic civilization of Teotihuacan feels even more vivid. When leaving this place, it felt like more than just a trip; it was a profound connection with the ancient past.
Walking Tour Near Zocalo Square... Mexico City
A walking tour near Zocalo Square in Mexico City is truly a journey through history and culture. Zocalo Square, the heart of Mexico City, is impressive with its massive scale and unique atmosphere. As you walk around, you'll encounter the grand cathedral and the National Palace, both rich in Mexican history. Inside the National Palace, Diego Rivera's murals are a must-see. The area around the square is bustling with traditional markets, shops, and street artists, offering a vibrant slice of Mexican daily life. Street food vendors are scattered throughout, providing the delightful experience of tasting local snacks. This area feels safe for visitors and boasts a unique atmosphere where history and modernity blend seamlessly. A walking tour near Zocalo Square will be a special experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in both the past and present of Mexico City.

The Latin American Tower (Torre Latino Americana) is 188m high and has 3 underground floors, and is a place where you can see the night view of Mexico City at a glance.
You can see a great night view at night, but it also gets crowded.
The back of the rest of the Mexican buildings..If you go just one block off the main street, you will feel that the number of people walking and cars decreases rapidly around 4pm.
Tourism is good, but safety is the most important thing in a dangerous city.

The world's second largest plaza is in Mexico?!
Hello! This is TripCC Sophie✌️
The first country I'm going to introduce is Mexico.
What images come to mind when you think of Mexico?
Cartels, guns, drugs?🔫🧪
Most people probably think of negative😒 images!
Based on my experience, Mexico is a country that is 👏a mix of fun👏.
Today, I'm going to introduce the Zócalo (Zocal Plaza)✨, the place you must visit if you visit Mexico City!
Zócalo✨ is the Spanish word for square, and all squares are called Zócalo✨.
Zócalo✨ in Mexico City is the second largest square in the world!
Just like people gather at Gwanghwamun Square when there are important events in Korea, people gather at Zócalo✨ in Mexico.
When I visited, there were a lot of tourists👩👩👧👦, but because the square is so big, it didn't feel crowded. Near Zócalo✨ is ⛪️Cathedral Metropolitana⛪️Metropolitan Cathedral~
Did you know that most Mexicans are Catholic?
⛪️Cathedral Metropolitana⛪️ is a representative Catholic building in Latin America, and it is a place where you can see the unique Catholic style of Latin America
If you visit Zócalo✨, I definitely recommend you visit it⚡️ even if you are not a Catholic!
However, ironically, next to ⛪️Cathedral Metropolitana⛪️, Mexican natives are allowing tourists and locals to experience native rituals!
Isn't this the real integration of religions? 🤝
Since all tourists gather here at Zócalo✨, why not visit Zócalo✨ where you can directly/indirectly experience various Mexican cultures?
Look forward to the next Mexico travel story🫶🏻

Let's go on a family trip to Mexico!
I planned a 2-week trip to South America with my family 6 months ago 🌍
The starting point of our trip to South America was none other than Mexico! 🇲🇽
Actually, Mexico was a transit point for Peru.
However, during our short transit time in Mexico City,
our family was able to have a fulfilling trip from Zocalo Square to eating tacos and churros!
Of course, we were exhausted from the long flight,
so I think we walked around diligently without thinking much 😵💫
(Our transit point back to Korea was also Mexico)
Actually, traveling with my parents wasn't easy.
However, before time passed and I got physically tired,
I thought I should visit South America first, which is relatively difficult,
and I think I took on the challenge! 💪🏻
Long flight time, hot weather, long trekking, altitude sickness.
A trip to South America that is not easy at all..
You have to go before it's too late!!!!! You should also try Mexican tacos and dipping churros!

Pyramids and Mexican Tacos
Are pyramids only found in Egypt?
Dang! There's Teotihuacan in Mexico!🛕
The largest pyramid in the Americas,
Teotihuacan, is characterized by its wide and flat top, unlike the pyramids in Egypt.
It is a space for sacrifices, and it is also a place that symbolizes the terrifying history and cruel culture..
The climb to Teotihuacan, which is 2,300m above sea level,
is not as easy as you think. The grandeur you feel when you look at it from afar
and when you see it up close is on a different level!
In fact, there are countless stairs, so it took quite a long time to get to the top.
When you stand on the traces of ancient Mexico, your heart aches.
The legendary city of the gods, where the dead become gods. 🪨
After seeing the wide and spacious Teotihuacan,
we visited a local Mexican taco restaurant under the hot sun.
It was definitely different from the taste we had in Korea. Today, too, I miss the taste! 🌮🌮🌮🌮
I miss the days in Mexico, holding oily tacos with my hands and drinking cold beer! My heart is traveling.
